Method and device for bending over the cord ply ends of pneumatic tires.
I) The bending over of the cord layer ends of pneumatic tires has so far been carried out by means of complicated machines by bending the cord layer ends into the interior of the pneumatic tires and pretending them to the beads by means of a number of levers.
The present invention aims to make folding the ends of the cord ply easier. The method according to the invention consists in that the cord layer ends of the unvulcanized tire are folded over into the interior of the tire by means of an element which is made to expand by compressed air and pressed against the beads.
The device, which is also the subject of this invention, is characterized by a rim-like holding member for receiving the unvulcanized pneumatic tire, which has a chamber in which an organ is arranged which can be expanded by pressure air.
In the accompanying drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention is shown, by means of which the method according to the invention is also explained, for example.
The Vorriehtung has a rim-like tIalteorgan, which consists of a rim half 2 fixedly arranged on the axle 1 and a removable cover plate 3, which is connected to the rim half 2 by means of the viewing hood 4. A circular cylindrical wall 5 is welded to the rim half 2 in such a way that an outwardly open chamber 6 is formed between the two parts 2 and 3.
In this chamber 6 a sehlauehför- shaped rubber body 7 is arranged which can be expanded by compressed air which is introduced into the interior of the organ 7. This rubber body is shaped in such a way that it rests on three sides on the rim half 2, the wall 5 and the cover 3, while the outer part 13 is free and arched downwards. Under the pressure of air introduced into the rubber body 7, only the free, inwardly arched part 13 can therefore move.
With this device, the order is carried out in the following way:
With the cover 3 removed, the unvulcanized pneumatic tire 8 is applied to the rim half 2 so that its one bead 9 comes to rest against the rim edge 10. Then the cover is ripped open, as a result of which the other bead 9 'is held by the rim edge 11 of the cover 3.
The cord layer ends 12 are now directed towards one another and protrude into the chamber 6 in which the rubber body 7 is located.
By introducing air pressure into the rubber body 7, the latter expands in such a way that the inwardly arched part 13 moves into the interior of the pneumatic tire 8.
Thanks to the special design of the movable part 13 of the rubber body, namely the arching inward, this part suddenly jumps outward when there is a certain internal pressure and bends the ends of the cord layer; Furthermore, part 13 is able to widen sirli quite far into the interior of the tire. During this movement, the part 13 is first arched outwards into the position 13 'shown in dash-dotted lines, in which the cord layer ends 1 @ have already been slightly turned and moved into the inside of the tire.
By increasing the pressure in the rubber body, the part 13 expands to position 13 ″, in which position it presses the cord layer ends 12 against the inside of the beads 9 and 9 ″. This completes the buckling process and the further treatment of the unvulcanized tire can be carried out done in a known manner.
