Le fonctionnement du dispositif représenté est le suivant En position de repos, les .contacts de l'in terrupteur p sont réunis, la vanne IV est fer mée (la clé b étant en b"), le brûleur III est aussi fermé, sa manette étant en c, -les deux bornes du relais thermique 20 sont reliées par de mercure de celui-ci, l'interrupteur V est fermé et les fils 34 et 35 de l'interrupteur IV sont reliés en o; le circuit d'alimentation de la bobine de l'électro-aimant S (conducteurs 1 et 2) est. alors uniquement coupé aux contacts f ;
la clé b de la vanne W est déplacée ma nuellement. pour venir en b', afin d'ouvrir cette vanne; ensuite la manette du brûleur III est déplacée manuellement pour venir en c"'; au cours (le ce mouvement, elle passe :sur le con tact e et relie momentanément les conduc teurs 9 et 10, ce qui assure momentanément l'alimentation de l'électro-aimant k;
S, de fermer en g le circuit de l'allumeur à étin celles 13, et d'allumer en d le gaz provenant de la conduite I, et pour permettre au gaz inerte du relais thermique 20 de se dilater (le façon à repousser le mercure dans le réci pient coudé rn et à déconnecter les bornes de l'interrupteur X, les contacts f étant, pendant ces dernières opérations, reliés par la manette c; après ,l'allumage du brûleur III, la manette de celui-ci est ramenée en c" et relie les con tacts f ;
le pendule z est arrêté dans la posi tion représentée en traits pleins, position dans laquelle les fils 34 et 35 sont reliés au point o par la sphère d'aluminium prévue à cet effet, et las contacts de l'interrupteur p sont réunis, le circuit d'alimentation -de l'électro-aimantS n'est donc plus coupé que par l'interrupteur V commandé par le relais thermique 20;
Thermoelectric device for automatically controlling the closing of a valve in a gas line. The object of the present invention is. a thermoelectric device for automatically controlling the closing of a valve in a gas line supplying at least one burner,:
in the case where this gas escapes from this burner without burning, characterized by the fact that the key of said valve is capable of being actuated for its closing by means of a main electromagnet. whose power supply circuit is controlled by at least two switches coupled in series, one of which is. controlled by a thermal relay subjected to the action of the. burner flame and the other by the burner valve handle, <the means for activating an optical and acoustic signaling device when gas escapes from the burner without burning.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention.
The single figure is a sectional view. The device shown comprises a supply pipe (the gas I supplying a burner III; this pipe I is provided with a valve IV comprising a key b rotatably mounted and intended to be moved in the opposite direction to the arrow 70 for its closure by means of a part a; the latter comprises a pivot axis coaxial with the key b and it is intended to be actuated by means of a rod 51-52 actuated by the armature 50 of an electromagnet. main S.
The latter is connected via two conductors 1 and 2 to a source of electrical energy, not shown; these conductors 1 and 2 also supply the alarm device VI comprising, coupled in parallel, a lamp 47 and a bell 48.
Conductor 1 supplies in series at p ', e' and x circuits connected respectively to contacts f controlled by the handle c of a burner valve III, to contacts p which may be separated by part a, at contacts o, of a secondary switch IV and at the contacts of a sea cure switch V.
When the four aforementioned circuits are closed, the electromagnet S is energized and, consequently, ensures the movement of the part cc and the key b forming part of a closing device VII. Of the valve W.
The burner III is provided with a valve comprising the lever c rotatably mounted on an axis i and, capable of. occupy positions c ', c "and c"'; before reaching the latter, the handle c switches to a contact e and switches on conductors 9 and 10, which supply the temporary switch IV.
In position c "', lever c closes at g the circuit of an electric spark igniter 13 - of a known type comprising two coils 28 and ensuring the ignition at d of the gas coming from the pipe. I.
A known device comprising a valve 32 makes it possible to adjust the volume of gas escaping pant. d11 burner; a thermal relay constituted by a gas thermometer 20 is subjected to the action of the heat given off by the flame thereof. This thermometer includes an angled receptacle m containing mercury, connected to a sealed tube containing. oil and inert gas 21 intended to expand under the action of the heat given off by the.
burner flame,, key so as to cut in X the supply circuit of the electromagnet n of the switch V.
The switch IV comprises an electromagnet 1,: capable of being connected, of a thickness :, to the conductor 2 and, on the other hand, through the intermediary of the wire 9, of the handle c, of the contact e and thread. 10 to conductor 1; this electromagnet k is intended to move a pendulum z carrying, for this purpose, a mass of soft iron 39 constituting the armature of said electromagnet.
This mass 39 is attached to a part having the general shape of a T comprising a leg consisting of a metal strip 36 and a bar consisting of a light tube v; the key-shaped part T has a pivot axis Y at the junction of the tube z @ and the strip 36, the latter being intended to be moved by the pendulum z. Inside the tube v is housed an aluminum sphere intended, when the pendulum z is stopped in the position shown in solid lines, short; circuit at point o of wires 34 and 35 connected to conductor 1.
The function performed by the IV switch could be entrusted to other automatic devices, in particular to one of those known under: the name of the timer used for the control of lighting in stairwells, or even to a time measuring device.
The mercury toggle switch V com takes an electromagnet n controlled by the thermal relay 20, which is arranged in such a way as to be able to close the circuit of said electromagnet in X when the burner III is not lit; in this ras, the electromagnet n tilts the mercury container of the switch V, which has the consequence of short-circuiting the wires 45 and. 16 connected to conductor 1 and. which are connected to said container.
A switch 4-9 is used to connect the optical signa.LLx and. acoustics 4 7 and. 48 to the power supply circuit of the electromagnet S.
50 'and 51' connections allow. supply, by means of the conductors 1 and. 2, half rings or light bulbs placed, for example, in a bedroom or in a concierge's lodge.
The electromagnet S of the closing device VII is connected to the conductors 1 and 2 either directly by means of a switch 66, or by means of a delayed action device comprising a bi-metallic strip 5 -1 subjected to the action of heat .developed by a resistor connected in deriva tion 67, this strip 54 being intended to close Lin .contact 69 of the electromagnet circuit.
When the threads 1 and \? feed the electromagnet S, the latter causes the rod 51-52 to turn the part a and, consequently, the key b in the opposite direction to the arrow 70 by means of a key; in its closed position, the key b comes to b "and the part a to a 'where it is stopped by a stop 56 and. where it opens the circuit of wires 1 and 2 by moving one of the contacts of the switch. switch p, to prevent the electromagnet S from remaining under voltage indefinitely.
An adjustment screw u is mounted on a plate 62 to adjust the tension of a spring t cooperating with the actuation of the key b -for its closing; in fact, after the electromagnet S has moved the key b by a certain angle in the opposite direction to the arrow 70, the spring t pulls on the end of said key, which ensures its closure.
The operation of the device shown is as follows In the rest position, the contacts of the switch p are united, the valve IV is closed (the key b being in b "), the burner III is also closed, its handle being at c, -the two terminals of thermal relay 20 are connected by mercury thereof, switch V is closed and wires 34 and 35 of switch IV are connected at o; the supply circuit of the coil of the electromagnet S (conductors 1 and 2) is then only interrupted at contacts f;
the key b of the valve W is moved manually. to come to b ', in order to open this valve; then the burner handle III is moved manually to come in c "'; during this movement, it passes: on the contact and momentarily connects the conductors 9 and 10, which momentarily ensures the supply of the 'electromagnet k;
the latter rotates the pendulum z, which has the result of disconnecting at o the conductors 34 and 3.5, that is to say temporarily cutting off the supply circuit of the electromagnet S, during sufficient time, twenty seconds for example, to allow the ma clear c, without the electromagnet working.
S, to close in g the circuit of the spark igniter those 13, and to ignite in d the gas coming from the pipe I, and to allow the inert gas of the thermal relay 20 to expand (the way to push back the mercury in the angled receptacle rn and disconnect the terminals of switch X, contacts f being, during these last operations, connected by handle c; after ignition of burner III, the handle of the latter is brought back to c "and connects the contacts f;
the pendulum z is stopped in the position shown in solid lines, a position in which the wires 34 and 35 are connected to the point o by the aluminum sphere provided for this purpose, and the contacts of the switch p are joined, the power supply circuit of the S electromagnet is therefore no longer interrupted except by switch V controlled by thermal relay 20;
when the flame d of the burner III accidentally goes out, the gas from the thermometer 20 contracts, and. its mercury rises and electrically connects the terminals (the switch X, which closes the switch V and, consequently, the supply circuit (the electromagnet S;: this one then actuates the key b of the valve VII, which, in cooperation with the spring t, closes the valve VII.
