Comme brins non adhésifs à une tempéra ture donnée, on peut utiliser des fibres non thermoplastiques, telles que des fibres natu relles ou synthétiques appropriées de lon gueur convenant à la fabrication de textiles, par exemple du coton, du lin, de la jute ou d'autres fibres végétales; de la laine, des poils, de la soie et d'autres fibres d'origine animale;

Yarn composed of several strands. The present invention relates to a yarn composed of several strands.
The objects of the present invention are, inter alia, to provide multi-ply yarns which are possible. by a subsequent gluing process, give higher strength, lower elongation and shrinkage and less tendency to twist. Another object of the invention is to prevent the distortion of the fabrics, to be able to use fibers shorter than those which have been used hitherto, and to provide, after a gluing process, more fabrics. high toughness and greater resistance to deterioration by wear and friction. and by washing.
The yarn according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises at least one strand of potentially thermoplastic fiber becoming ad hesive at a given temperature and at least one non-adhesive strand at the same temperature, these strands being combined by twisting.
The term strand is used in its general sense and denotes the assembly consisting of one or more continuous filaments, or a single preformed yarn. Yarn composed of several strands means a yarn comprising two or more strands.
As non-adhesive strands at a given temperature, non-thermoplastic fibers can be used, such as suitable natural or synthetic fibers of a length suitable for the manufacture of textiles, for example cotton, linen, jute or cotton. other vegetable fibers; wool, animal hair, silk and other fibers of animal origin;
asbestos, glass wool and mineral wool, and also artificial fibers or filaments prepared from cellulose derivatives and natural or synthetic resins of all kinds, and these resinous fibers must be such that they are not adhesive at the temperature necessary to make said potentially thermoplastic fibers adhesive.
The fibers that are potentially thermoplastic and capable of becoming adhesive can comprise any thermoplastic synthetic resin or any cellulose derivative. thermoplastic capable of being processed into fibers which have an inherent viscosity after heating at a temperature below that at which the textile fibers are deteriorated and which are not adhesive at ordinary temperature.
For example, resins formed by polymerization of various organic compounds such as coumarin, indene hydrocarbons, vinyl, styrene, aldehyde, furfural, ketones, urea, thiourea, phenol resins -aldehyde, urea-aldehyde resins, amine-aldehyde resins, polybasic acid-polyhydric alcohol resins, resins prepared from acrylic acid and its derivatives, sulfur-olefin resins,
resins prepared from carbonic acid and diamines (of the nylon type), fibers formed from synthetic or artificial rubber, copolymers of vinyl halides and vinyl acetate, and a mixture of: resin .
The potentially thermoplastic fibers can be prepared from thermoplastic cellulose derivatives, eg, cellulose ester, cellulose ether, mixed cellulose ester-ether, or mixed cellulose ether.
As a potentially thermoplastic fiber, the yarn is small. contain a resin fiber, because resin fibers, compared to fibers of cellulose derivatives, are stronger and harder, are liable to become tacky at lower temperatures and cool to form a strong product and elastic. In addition, the resin fibers are inert to alkaline acids and dry cleaning fluids, and will not swell in water.
This latter property prevents the. distortion of the adhesive bond, tends to stabilize the twist and prevents shrinkage of the fabric, and. the adhesion is more durable, so that the wet and dry tensile strength of the adhesive bond will be substantially there. even.
Non-adhesive fibers at a given temperature and potentially thermoplastic adhesive fibers at that temperature can be previously drawn fibers or filaments.
In some embodiments, both strands are thermoplastic, but only one of them is. likely .de become adhesive at a temperature at which the antral strand is not yet adhesive.
The yarn according to the invention has the advantage that the potentially thermoplastic strand can be made tacky by the use of hot air, water changed from or in contact with heated surfaces, with or without the addition of a solvent or a plasticizer, and with or without the use of pressure, and these treatments can be carried out on the yarn according to the invention or on the fabrics manufactured using the latter.

<tb> and <SEP> it <SEP> will have <SEP> as <SEP> result <SEP> the <SEP> producing an unbalanced yarn that will wiggle.
This result. can. be avoided by twisting. the yarn 1 or imparting a twist to the strand 1 before it passes between the pressure rollers 3. An embodiment of the yarn according to the present invention can also be obtained by employing the rolls of a drawing bench shown in FIGS. 3 and 1. In fig. 3, one of the strands comprises a wick 10 drawn through the draw rollers 11, 12 and 13, (the ordinary fawn.
We do. also not through the key constriction the last pair (the rollers 13 tin second strand represented eoninie filament 1-1, in fig. 3.
In niaintenTint. sou, tension the filament. 1-1, the first click can be forced to twist around said filament. 14, when the compound yarn is unwound between the rollers 13 and a spool <B> 15, </B> the compound yarn 8 'passing through tin knot 16 and a guide ring 17 on the spool 1a which turns using a 6 'belt which controls a 7' pulley.
The wick 10 and the filament 11 are. potentially thermoplastic, and although only one nièclte is shown, several wicks can pass between the draw rollers and be twisted simultaneously. around a single strand 1.1. By modifying the relative tensions of the strands 10 and of the strand. 7.1, there. East.
possible <bring strand 1-1 to twist around the strands.
In the -l, the. Strand 1.-1 first passes through a pair of pressure rollers 15 located above rollers 13 in a downward direction and comes into contact with the bit near the surface of the lower roller 13 '. 10 is twisted around said strand 11 at the wing of the devices shown in Fig. 3.
The nièelies 10 or the strand 14 shown in FIG. 4 consist of thermoplastic fibers and two or more wicks may be used.
When a wick 10 is twisted around a filament 14, it is possible to manufacture, using the apparatus shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, a compound yarn represented by FIG. 5. We can. then submit this yarn to. heating, which stabilizes the structure of the yarn.
By using a wick instead of the continuous filament 1-1 in the apparatus of FIGS. 3 and 4, a compound yarn represented by fib. 6, which comprises a central strand 14 'comprising. a set of fibers around which a covering strand is twisted. 10 also taking a set of fibers. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 6, the central strand 14 'or the covering strand. 10 consist of thermoplastic fibers.
Another embodiment of the yarn according to the present invention may comprise a multi-ply yarn produced, for example, from. using the apparatus represented by the wire: 7, in which three strands? 1 carried by coils 19 and 19 'pass through a common void 16' and a surrounding fin 17 '. the <B> 15 '</B> spool which turns - thanks to a 6' belt and a 7 'pulley. The strand on the spool 19 'is thermoplastic, unlike the non-thermoplastic strands on the spools 19.
The different strands? 1. are doubled from the 16 'guide onto the 5' spool. The compound yarn? 0 produced. using the device represented by fi = g. 7 is shown in fi-, 8; it differs from the yarn represented by the fi-. 2 in that in the yarn shown in FIG. 8, roofs the strands are twisted around each other as in ordinary strings or twisted threads.
It is of course understood that the one or more of the strands 21 (the compound yarn 20 represented by FIG. 8 can be formed of continuous filaments. By heating the yarn obtained, the fibers are tied in the product, stabilized. the twist of the yarn and the relation to each other of the threads of the rope.
When the strands potentially. thermoplastics are found on the surface of the compound yarn, it is possible to obtain from this embodiment a compound yarn with a substantially continuous coating of the material resulting from the activation of the thermoplastic material. This may. To be advantageous for the manufacture of other composite yarns in which adhesion between the yarns is desirable to prevent displacement of the yarns in the fabric. When the thermoplastic strand is in the center of the yarn, the core of potentially thermoplastic fibers serves to strengthen the yarn.
Embodiments of the yarn according to the invention can be multi-ply yarns, threads and cords of all kinds, which can be used as warps or as filling material (weft) during the manufacture of fabrics. , or in association with other yarns of a similar or different character, yarns for weaving, knitting, tulle, lace and other textile constructions, and for the preparation of yarns and ropes of all kinds. cash. It is also possible to manufacture sewing threads, fishing ropes, assembly ropes and especially ropes for all uses which require great resistance to wear.
