Briquet pyrophorique.
Pyrophoric lighter. The volatility of benzine is the cause of many inconveniences for the carriers of pyrophoric lighters. The heat of the hand and that of the flame cause this fuel to vaporize inside (the tank and, depending on the position the bri quet occupies in the pocket after having been used, the pressure created inside the tank. see by the vapors (the benzine causes unpleasant seeps which it has been very difficult until now to remedy.
The lighter. pyrophoric according to the present invention comprises a pressure regulator arranged so as to absorb an increase in pressure occurring, for one reason or another, inside the tank and to allow the balancing of a possible vacuum, produced also in the tank, with the ambient air.
() avoids in this way the drawbacks mentioned above in the sense that the benzine will no longer be solicited towards the slots and openings of the reservoir and that, on the other hand, the vacuum, produced at the The interior of the latter by the consumption of benzine, may be compensated for by air admitted by the regulator @ inside the brick.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of a bri quet according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a section through the axis of the positive regulator.
Fig. 2 shows a section of this positive say along line II-11 of FIG. 1, to. an enlarged scale relative to the latter.
The lighter to which the pressure regulator is adapted has nothing special about the organs generally used in this type of object. It has a reservoir 1, closed by a bottom 2, and the upper part of which, mas sive, is drilled to allow the passage of a burner 3 through which a wick passes A spring 5 is provided for the automatic opening of the cover 6 and keeping it in the upright position.
The regulating device consists of a tube 7, closed at one end. by a bottom 8 and communicating. on the other with the exterior; at . for this purpose, it is open at its upper end at 9 where its internal diameter is reduced. It is forced into the upper part of the tank, but could also be screwed into it. The tube 7 is pierced with two diametrically opposed openings 10 having a certain length and. on which was slipped a pipe 11, thin-walled, resilient material resistant to the action of benzine, buna for example.
If there is an overpressure inside the tank for any reason which could cause the gasoline to escape, pipe 11 is. deformed and partially enters the interior of the openings 10 (FIG. 2), which has the effect of enlarging the space available inside the reservoir and obviating this pressure increase. Does the opposite happen, that is to say does it reign inside, due to the consumption of benzine, a vacuum, the air can enter through the opening 9 of the tube and lift the edges of the pipe 11 to pass between it and the pipe inside the tank.
