Abgasturbolader.
Exhaust gas turbocharger. Exhaust gas turbochargers, which are used to charge vehicle engines, must be built as light as possible. This results in the need to assemble the turbine, storage and compressor in the smallest possible space. The consequence of this is that special precautions must be taken to keep the heat flow and the heat radiation from the hot parts of the exhaust gas turbine to the bearings as small as possible.
According to the invention, this thermal protection of the bearing is achieved by the fact that a double-walled, dome-shaped body that shields the bearing block from the hot turbine parts directs cooling air so that part of the shaft is also coated and that the cooling air hits the shaft happens between the turbine wheel and the bearing.
The figure shows an exemplary embodiment of an exhaust gas turbo charger according to the invention. 2 with the bearing block be marked, which contains the ball bearings for the storage tion of the shaft 1. On which the compressor wheel 3 and the turbine wheel 4 are angeord net.
To shield the heat transfer from the hot turbine parts to the bearing block, cooling air is taken from the diffuser 5 of the evaporator and fed through bores 6 in the bearing block to a dome-shaped space 7 formed by two walls 13 and 14. The air expands in this dome and dissipates the heat supplied to the dome walls through radiation and conduction via the constriction 8.
At the constriction 8, the relatively still cold cooling air is guided for a distance along the shaft 1. The shaft itself has an inner bore 9 at this point, so that at this point, given the required moment of inertia, a thrusting cross-section is created for the heat conducted through the shaft. The amount of heat transferred via the shaft from the turbine impeller to the bearings by conduction is therefore smaller, all the more so as the cooling air passing outside the throttle cross-section dissipates part of it.
To improve this effect, the shaft can also be made in two parts and the part forming the throttle cross-section can be formed from Schlech ter thermally conductive material than the remaining part of the shaft. At the point where the cooling air strikes the shaft, bores can also be provided through which cooling air flows into the interior of the hollow shaft. The exit of this cooling air located inside must be done through an axial bore in the turbine wheel. The cooling air flowing around the shaft on the outside is guided to the outside along the turbine wheel 4 in its further course. This not only cools the turbine wheel 4 and the housing 10, but also prevents the penetration of exhaust gases into the space 11 between the turbine wheel and the turbine housing.
The cooling air enters the turbine wheel in the gap 12 between the nozzle and the turbine wheel.
