Milling head. The present invention relates to a milling head for producing bores and grooves of various widths, which is mainly suitable for use in the wood, plastic and light metal processing industry on high-speed work spindles, in particular on routers.
The milling head is characterized according to the invention in that a rotary body-shaped collet with an eccentric bore for receiving a milling drill is in turn arranged eccentrically and rotatable about its axis in the milling head body such that by changing the mutual position of the collet and Milling head body the eccentricity of the hole for the milling drill with respect to the axis of rotation of the milling head is continuously adjustable from zero to a maximum value.
A preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown, for example, in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a partial longitudinal section through the milling head with dash-dotted lines on a given balancing roller.
FIG. 2 shows a view of the milling head with a clamped milling bit, and FIGS. 3 and 4 illustrate the angle of impact and its use for correctly setting the cutting edge of the pre-drill.
The milling head shown has a milling head body 1 with a shaft 2 for. Fastening is provided in the work spindle of a machine tool and in wel chem body 1 a rotational body-shaped collet 3 with respect to the axis of rotation of the milling head eccentrically and is four-rotatable about its own axis. The collet 3 has. on the circumference a truncated conical surface 4, with which it sits in the recess of the milling head body 1 corresponding to this surface.
The collet 3 is in turn provided with an eccentric, parallel to the axis of rotation, the bore 5 for receiving a milling drill 6, the eccentricity of the bore 5 in the collet 3 and that of the recess in the milling head body receiving the collet being the same , so that by changing the mutual position of the collet and milling head body, the eccentricity of the bore 5 with respect to the axis of rotation of the milling head is continuously adjustable from zero to twice the value of the eccentricity of the recess accommodating the collet.
The collet 3 has from the base and the top surface of the truncated cone outgoing radial slots 3a to achieve the necessary elasticity of the pliers. One with an eccentric and partial; conical bore '"seen pressure plate 7 is placed over a corresponding, likewise conical rotation 3b of the collet 3, the rotation 3b forming an outwardly sloping shoulder located in front of the base of the truncated cone surface 4.
Along the edge of the bore of the pressure plate 7 is a scale 16 and on the collet 3 a mark 17 opposite the scale IN ANY, which scale gives the eccentricity of the bore 5 set. With the help of a nut 8 screwed onto the milling head body 1, the pressure plate 7 is pulled against the milling head body 1 and presses the collet 3 on the shoulder of the turning 3b into the recess of the milling head body.
An inserted into the hole 5 milling drill 6 is here due to the elasticity of the collet 3 Festge clamped, and because of the training shown particularly firmly in the vicinity of the base and the top surface of the collet. At least one hole 8a for inserting the hook of a hook ring spanner is arranged on the outer surface of the union nut 8 for tightening and loosening the same.
On the circumference of the milling head body 1 two hollow balancing rings 9 and 10 are rotatably available, each half of their circumference with a mass 9a or 10a, the specific weight of which is greater than that of the rings, for example with lead, filled and between those one also rotatable scalar ring 11 is arranged, which has an auxiliary scale advancing from a common zero point in both directions on at least half the circumference. Each of the balancing rings carries one of the scale of the ring 11 opposite mark 12 or 13 and an arrow to mark the direction of rotation for balancing.
A ring nut 14 screwed onto the milling head body 1 serves, with the interposition of a nose washer 15, to clamp the balancing rings 9 and 10 and the scalar ring 11, the nose washer 15 through a nose engaging in a corresponding recess in the milling head body 1 (not visible in the drawing ) is prevented from turning in relation to your body 1. The ring nut 14 also has holes 1.4a for inserting a hook ring spanner.
The disk 15 is designed in such a way that the adjacent balancing ring 10 and the ring nut 14 can rotate unimpeded. Benn tightening the ring nut 14 clamps the balancing rings 9 and 10 against a deposition of the milling head body 1.
The handling of the milling head described is as follows: After slightly loosening the union nut 8, insert the required milling drill 6 into the bore 5 of the collet 3 and twist it in the associated recess of the milling head body 1 around its axis in such a way that that the desired eccentricity of the drill 6 results, which is continuously adjustable from zero to a maximum value.
The set eccentricity can be read off with the help of the mark 1.7 and the scale 16 , which can be calibrated directly in the linear dimension of the eccentricity.
The milling drills 6 that are used are mostly provided with only one cutting edge, the setting of which with respect to the milling head is important for eccentric clamping in order to have the most favorable setting angle of the cutting edge during machining.
To facilitate this cutting edge setting, a special stop bracket (Fig. 3 and 4) is used, which essentially has the shape of a cut-out cylinder sector and namely a stop surface which is a section of a hollow cylinder, which can be placed against the outer surface of the nut 8 . On the front surface of the pressure plate 7 there is an auxiliary scale 19 along part of the circumference in addition to the mentioned scale 16, from which a value determined from a table can be transferred through a radial side surface of the stop bracket 18 into the area of the drill bit .
The setting of the cutting edge is then done so that the same comes to rest on the relevant radial side surface of the stop angle, as can be clearly seen from FIG. After is. to tighten the union nut 8 with the ring spanner, whereby the drill 6 is clamped in the set position.
The uneven weight distribution in the milling head resulting from the eccentric drill clamping can be compensated with the help of balancing rings 9 and 10. For this purpose, the zero line of the scalar ring 11 must first be placed on the side opposite the milling drill bit and the one at the marking lines 1.2 and 13 of the balancing rings opposite the zero line of the scalar ring 11..
The milling head with the shank 2 is now placed in the balancing roller 20, the diameter of which is slightly larger than the largest diameter of the milling head and which has elevations 20a running all around on its circumference at both ends, which preferably have a triangular cross-section. Then you put the whole thing on a smooth level, with the help of a spirit level exactly horizontal, z. B. a glass plate, and can swing the milling head. Then you turn the zero line of the scalar ring 11 to the center of gravity. opposite side and then rotates the balancing rings 9 and 10 in the marked arrow directions while holding the scalar ring 11 evenly to both sides by a certain amount.
The weight distribution is now checked again by allowing it to oscillate on the horizontal plane. If the milling head does not remain in any given position, the balancing rings are to be rotated evenly in the corresponding direction without adjusting the scalar ring 11 until the masses of the milling head are balanced. Finally, tighten the ring nut 1.4 with the ring spanner and fix the balancing rings and the scalar ring in the set position. The milling head is now ready to be inserted into the machine.
The presented milling head allows with a small number of normal drills thanks to the adjustability of the eccentricity, the production of holes and grooves of largely different dimensions, which could only be achieved by using a number of different eccentric chucks and many drill dimensions. Another advantage, which is of great importance, is that the piece to be machined can be machined with an accuracy of 1/10 mm while maintaining the most favorable setting angle of the milling cutter. The ability to quickly and precisely balance the milling head by means of the balancing rings results in a clean cut and great protection of the milling spindle bearing.
