Mantelelektrode.

Jacket electrode. In order to achieve a high-strength joint weld, sheathed wires with a chromium-molybdenum alloyed core wire were previously used. With these additives: The nominal strengths of the sheets in their welded joints can be achieved after a heat treatment treatment. Most of the time, however, the strengths were below 7.00 kg / mmê. Apart from the very low evaporation losses, the molybdenum was completely absorbed and thus gave it valuable coating properties. The molybdenum of the wire was partly replaced by Vanadiri, but this almost completely burned out at the sight.
It has now been possible to produce chrome-vanadium-alloyed jacket electrodes, which resulted in the same and even higher strengths in the welded joints than were previously achieved with the chrome-molybdenum-alloyed electrodes. Through extensive investigations, sheath materials were found, with the help of which the loss of vanadium from the electrode to the weld metal could be contained in such a way that the necessary amount of alloy was retained in it for the required through-treatment of the weld seam. In the case of an ore-acidic shell, the reaction 2 Mn + Si02 = 231n0 + Si was triggered by the addition of increased manganese, which on the one hand brought Si into the welding material from the shell materials and on the other hand protected the va nadium of the wire from burn-off.

When using a shell containing lime and fluorspar with contents of Mn up to 100 / o and Si up to 50 / o, an even higher degree of utilization of the alloy materials is achieved, as the following example shows: A core wire with

<tb> Mo <SEP> 0.030 / o
<tb> V <SEP> 0.200 / 0 The vanadium loss is insignificant.
The chromium content is significantly higher than when using the ore-acidic casings. Thus, the lime-based coated electrode gives the highest alloy gain in the weld. It is of course possible to replace the Si content in the sheet or a sheet made of another alloyed shell with a Ti content.

The tensile strength of 20 mm thick welded joints tempered to 132 kg / mmê was 21 kg / mmê with a mean stress of 1.4.4 kg / mmê and 107 load changes.
The lime-based electrode thus guarantees that the nominal strength of the sheets in thicknesses of 10 mm, 20 mm and more can be reliably achieved. If the chromium content in the wire is chosen to be lower than 1.70 / 0, the required strength values in the weld will no longer be achieved. If the carbon content rises above 0.50 / 0, hard cracks in the weld metal are to be expected. Vanadium contents higher than 0.40 / o are ineffective on the strength properties and disadvantageous when welding. High manganese contents prevent vanadium burn-off and are therefore advantageous, especially since they can also partially replace the chromium.
The telelectrode according to the invention, which is suitable in particular for the connection welding of more than 10 mm thick sheets to steels with a strength of over 100 kg / mmê, thus has a core wire which
