Fernsehapparat.
TV. The invention relates to a television apparatus.
When broadcasting television programs is. it is often desirable to fade from one scene to another. For this purpose, the output of a television camera is switched off by your transmitter and replaced by the output of another camera. This change is usually made by slowly fading over the exit of one camera and slowly switching on the exit of another camera. causes. In some cases, however, you may want to suddenly fade from one camera to another.
Heretofore, however, such a sudden fade usually caused an ugly spot on the screen of a television receiver because, for a moment, part of a picture transmitter appeared to be occupied by the scene of one camera and the remaining part by the scene of another camera. Similar difficulties also arise in cases where it is desired to vary the level of the television signals in fine steps. The invention aims to provide an improved television set in which such changes in state can be made.
The television set according to the invention has means through which a Sehaltvorgan; can be initiated at any point in time which is capable of bringing about a change in the operating state of the apparatus, this operating state change being such that, if it occurred during an image period, it would give rise to an undesired distortion of a reproduced image, and means by which, when the switching process has been initiated, it only becomes effective in a blanking interval of successive image periods.
In the drawing, Ausführungsbei games of the inventive television set are illustrated.
Fig. 1 shows schematically an Ausfüh approximately form of a mechanical commutator device 711111 use for the television set.
FIG. 2 is a circuit diagram of an arrangement with thermionic tubes which can be used in place of the commutator device shown in FIG.
FIG. 3 illustrates the waveform of pulses which is suitable for use in the arrangement according to FIG.
FIG. 4 is a circuit diagram of an arrangement in which the mechanical switches shown in FIG. 1 are replaced by thermal valves.
FIG. 5 shows a variant of the arrangement shown in FIG.
In the embodiment according to Fig.l, the output of a television camera is fed along a channel 1 and the output of another television camera along the channel 2, channels 1 and 2 being switched alternately by the operator, so that the signal either from channel 1 or from channel 2 to the signal output channel 3.
The connection of either channel 1 or channel 2 to channel 3 is effected by switching a contact 4. This contact is controlled by a relay 5, which acts be that the contact 4 touches one or the other contact of a contact pair 6, 7 be, which are connected to the channels 1 and 2, respectively. The relay 5 is energized by a power source 8, the relay current circuit containing a couple of commutators 9, 10, which are controlled by means of a manually operated switch 11.
The commutators 9 and 10 are mounted on a shaft 12 which rotates synchronously with the image frequency. The commutator 9 is provided with a conductive segment 13 so that the commutator 9 makes contact with its brush 14 only during the exchange intervals between successive image periods. The commutator 10, on the other hand, is provided with an insulating segment 15 so that it makes contact with its brush at all times, with the exception of the blanking intervals between successive image periods.
The brush 16 is connected in series with holding contacts 17 of the relay, where the relay 5 remains energized when the brush 16 touches the conductive part of the commutator 10. Assuming the commutators are in the position shown in FIG. 1, and the switch 11 and the contacts 1.7 are open, so that the relay 5 is not energized and the contact 4 makes contact with the contact 7.
If the switch 11 is now depressed to initiate a sudden cross-fading from one camera to the other, the relay 5 only changes the position of the contact 4 and the contacts 17 when the commutator 9 has reached a rotational position in which the conductive segment 13 contacts the brush 1.4, d. H. up to the blanking interval which occurs after the image period during which the switch 11 was depressed.
If the conductive segment 13 moves so that it comes out of contact with the brush 14, the relay 5 remains energized as a result of the current which is supplied to the relay from the brush 16 and the conductive part of the commutator 10, since the holding contacts 17 are now are closed. Therefore, as long as the switch 11 remains closed, current flows into your relay alternately from the brushes 14 and 16. If another sudden fade is to take place, the switch 11 is opened, and the relay 5 remains energized by the self-holding contacts 17 Position until the non-conductive segment 15 again touches the brush 16, whereby the relay 5 is de-energized.
The mechanical commutators shown in Fig. 1 can, as ersicht Lich in Fig. 2, be replaced by a pair of electron tubes. Here a pair of electron tubes 19, 20 is provided, the cathodes of which are connected to one another and are placed on the negative pole of a power source via a resistor 21, while the anode of the tube 19 is connected to the control electrode of the tube 20, the arrangement being a so-called called flip-flop circle, which has two stable states, in one of which the tube 19 and in the other the tube 20 is conductive.
Since relay 5 is in the anode circuit of the tube 20, and the tubes ren in the usual way current through the in Fig. \? batteries shown supplied. In the control circuit shown in Fig. 2, a goal of a stable to stand in the other can be effected by varying the bias voltage applied to the control electrode of the tube 19 until a critical voltage is reached, two critical voltages corresponding to the two stable states available.
The bias voltage of the control electrode of the tube 1.9 is changed by pressing the switch 11, depending on the position of the switch 11, the positive or the negative end of a bias battery 22 is applied to the control electrode.
The change in the voltage applied to the control electrode of the tube 19 when the switch 11 is operated is dimensioned such that it is smaller than the voltage required for changing from one state of the control circuit to the other. In addition to this bias voltage, the control electrode of the tube 19 is supplied with pulses, these pulses occurring during the blanking intervals between successive image periods, so that when the switch 11 is actuated, a change in tube 19 and 20 are not stable,
until the control electrode of the tube 19 is supplied with a pulse. In FIG. 3, the dashed lines 23 and 24 indicate the bias voltages applied to the control electrode of the tube 19 from the battery 22.
The wave shape of the pulses, which is suitable for application to the control electrode of the valve 19 is shown in full lines in Fig. 3, these pulses having positive parts 25 and negative parts 26, the amplitudes of which are approximately half the difference between the tween critical voltages El and E. are equal, so that when the switch is actuated, a change in the stable state of the tubes 19 and 20 immediately after applying either a positive or negative pulse, depending on the position of the switch 11, occurs.
When the switch 11 is in the position shown in Fig. 2, in which the smaller bias voltage 24 (Fig. 3) is applied to the control electrode of the tube 19, change. the tubes 19 and 20 from one to the other state when the first negative pulse occurs, and when the switch 17 is depressed, in which position the greater bias voltage 25 (Fig. 3) of the control electrode of the tube 19 is fed, change the tubes from one state to the other when the next positive pulse occurs.
The positive and negative pulses 25 and 26 should follow one another closely, leaving enough time after the occurrence of the second pulse of a pulse pair that the relay 5 can come into operation before the end of the blanking interval between successive images.
The pulses 25 and 26 can be generated, for example, by differentiating a single short rectangular pulse, in that this rectangular pulse is fed to a differentiating circuit, which rather has a capacitor 27 and a resistor 28 which is connected to the control electrode of the tube 19 is, the time constant of capacitor 27 and resistor 28 being short compared to the duration of each square pulse.
If desired, instead of allowing the positive and negative pulses to follow one another closely, positive and negative pulses can be used, which occur at alternating intervals between successive image periods.
Instead of using the relay 5 to effect a cross-fading from one camera channel to the other, the relay 5 can be replaced by two pairs of diodes 29, 30 and 31, 32, as shown in FIG. The camera channels 1 and 2 are connected to the anode of the diode 29 and the anode of the diode 31, while the cathodes of the diodes 29 and 30 to the anode of a triode 38 and. the cathodes of diodes 31 and 32 are connected to the anode of a further triode 39.
The control electrode of tube 38 is connected to the anode of tube 19 in FIG. 1, and the control electrode of tube 39 is connected to a relatively constant potential, tubes 38 and 39 having a common cathode resistance. When the tube 19 is not lei tend and the tube 20 is conductive, the tube 38 is conductive and the tube 39 is not lei tend. The diodes 29 and 30 are conductive in this case, and signals from channel 1 can be fed to channel 3, whereas diodes 31 and 32 are not conductive, so that no signals from channel 2 are fed to channel 3.
On the other hand, when the tube 19 is conductive, the tube 38 and therefore the diodes 29 and 30 are not made conductive, while the tube 39 and the diodes 31 and 32 are conductive. The arrangement shown in Fig. -1 is suitable for feeding the output signal of a large load impedance, z. B. the control electrode of a following tube.
If it is desired to supply the output signal with a small load impedance, the diodes 29, 30 and 31, 32 can be replaced by pairs of triodes or pentodes 33, 34 and 35, 36, as shown in FIG. Tubes 33, 34 and 35, 36 form part of an amplifier circuit, the output of which is fed to a cathode follower tube 37 as described in British Patent No. 564821.
The cathodes of the pentodes 33 ... 36 are connected to the anodes of a pair of pentodes 40, 41, the cathodes of which are mutually coupled, the control electrode of the tube 40 being connected to the anode of the tube 19 of the Fig. 2 is connected. If the tube 19 is not conductive, the pentode 40 is conductive, which together with the resistor was in its cathode line then couples the tube 33 to the tube 34 so that the signals fed to the control electrode of the tube 33 are in channel 1 of the anode the tube 34 are fed.
When the pentode 40 is conductive, the pentode 41 remains non-conductive, and when the pentode 41 is non-conductive, the tubes 35 and 36 are also non-conductive. When the tube 19 becomes conductive, the pentode 40 and thereby the tubes 33 and 34 are switched off, and the pentode 41 and thereby the tubes 35 and 36 automatically become conductive. The signal transmission from channel 1 to tube 37 ceases while channel 2 is connected to tube 37. By connecting the control grids of 31 and 36 to the cathode resistance of 37, negative feedback is achieved.
If desired, the tubes 38, 39 in FIG. 4 and 40, 41 in FIG. 5 can be omitted, in which case the tubes 19 and 20 are used alone, with the cathodes of diodes 29 and 30 or tubes 33 and 34 with the anode of tube 19, and the cathodes of diodes 31 and 32 or tubes 33, 36 are connected to the anode of tube 0.
