Device for connecting the ends of a link. The present invention relates to a device for connecting the ends of a link, in particular of a bracelet.
This device is characterized in that it comprises a U-shaped part and a plate intended to cooperate with this part, the plate being intended to be introduced between the branches of the U and to be released. of these by a sliding movement in a direction perpendicular to that of a tensile force exerted in the longitudinal direction of the link and which would tend to separate the ends of the latter,
means being provided to oppose the accidental separation of said part and of the plate under the effect of such a tensile force.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an end view of the closed device, and Fig.2 is a plan view, in the open position.
The connection device shown is applied to a metal brabelet, of which only the ends 1 and 2 are visible. A U -shaped part 3 is articulated in 4 at the end 1 of the bracelet. The inner surface of one of the branches of part 3 has three notches 5 extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the bracelet.
A plate 6, articulated at 7 at the other end 2 of the strap, is intended to be introduced between the branches of the U of part 3, as will be described below, and has a projection 8 extending along the free end of the plate, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bracelet.
The profile of this projection 8 corresponds to that of the notches 5 and the thickness of the plate 6 is equal to the spacing of the two branches of the part 3, so that this plate 6 cannot be inserted between said branches only by a sliding movement in the direction of the arrow shown in fi-. 2, that is to say perpendicular to the direction of the tensile force 9 tending to separate the ends 1 and 2 of the bracelet.
The projection 8 then engages in one of the notches 5 and, given its size and the low elasticity of the branches of the part 3, retains the plate 6 in this part against the tensile force 9.
The three notches 5 make it possible to introduce the plate 6 into the part 3 in three different positions, depending on the length to be given to the bracelet.
The profile of the projection and of the notches is preferably rounded, semi-circular or the like, so as to allow passage from one notch 5 to another without removing the plate 6 from the part 3.
This movement is made possible thanks to the elasticity of the free end of the plate 6, due to the fact that the latter has in its thickness a slot 10 which divides this end into two branches. Alternatively, the profile of the protrusion and notches could have a sharp edge so as to prevent the insert from being pulled out of the U -shaped part under the effect of the effect. strong traction 9, whatever the value of this one.
Blocking means, not shown, could be provided to keep the plate 6 in the closed position in the space between the branches of the part 3.
Although the described connecting device is intended to be applied to a bracelet, it could be used to connect the ends of any other link, such as for example a necklace, a belt, etc.
