Wrench. The invention relates to a wrench with a head, which is provided with a fixed jaw and an adjustable jaw, the jaw width being adjustable by a screw mounted in the wrench head, which is displaceable by a spring-controlled hand lever connected to the head rotatably . According to the invention, the worm is mounted on a ver slidably mounted axis in the key head, which is constantly connected by an articulated connection with the hand lever, such that the worm can be moved by pivoting the hand lever in both directions of the adjustable jaw.
The possibility of moving the movable jaw in both adjustment directions only by pivoting the hand lever is extremely advantageous, as any desired setting of the wrench opening can be made by means of the same organ, namely the hand lever, through which the nut or screw is turned.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing.
1 and 2 are side views of the key, wherein in Fig. 1 a cover plate is removed from the key head and certain individual parts are shown in section.
Figure 3 is an edge view of the front portion of the key.
4 is a section on the line IV-IV of FIG. 2. FIG. 5 is a fragmentary section on the line V-V of FIG.
As usual, the screw head has a wrench head 1 and a hand lever 2, but this hand lever is rotatably mounted in the wrench head on a pin 3. The Schllisselkopf also includes a cover plate attached by rivets 4. One of these rivets also serves as a pivot 3 for the hand lever 2, and another rivet serves as a support pin 5 for the hand lever 2. The head is movable with a fixed jaw 8 and one Union jaw 9 provided, which latter is adjustable by a screw 10 against and from the fixed jaw 8 away.
The worm is mounted on a shaft or spindle 12, which is displaceable in straight guides 11 in the head 1 in the adjustment directions of the movable jaw 9, which is parallel to its axis, and engages in a toothing located on the jaw 9. At one end of the screw 10 (left end according to FIG. 1), where a part of the axle 12 which is rectangular in cross section or otherwise non-circular engages with the correspondingly shaped straight guides of the head 1, the axle is provided with a recess 13 in which a corresponding, attached at the end of the hand lever approach 14 engages.
By means of this articulated connection, the and lever is permanently connected to the axle 12. On the part of the axis 12, which is located on the opposite end of the hinge connection of the worm 10, the axis 12 engages with telbar in the straight guides of the key head 1 by means of a sleeve 15 attached to the axis 12, which corresponds to the straight guides has a rectangular or otherwise non-circular cross-section. The axis 12 and the sleeve 15 are therefore only displaceable, but not rotatable. In a recess in the outer end of the sleeve 15 is a screw benfeder 16 is inserted, which presses through a screwed on the end of the axis 12 nut 17 against the sleeve.
The sleeve 15 is therefore pressed against the worm 10 by a constant braking pressure, so that when the wrench is used, the worm does not rotate itself and the handle is prevented from loosening around the nut or screw head to be rotated.
On the key head 1, the leaf spring 7 (Fig. 1) is attached to the hand lever 2 against the support pin 5, which support part can also be designed differently, to press a suitable position of the key head 1 to the hand lever 2 when setting the Wrench size to give when you grip on the nut or the screw head and when swiveling the lever back for a new grip on the nut or the screw head. One end part of the leaf spring 7 is in tension against the hand lever 2, and the other end part is clamped between demn head 6 and a pin 18 in the key head.
The pin 18 (Fig. 1, 2 and 5), which is located at the clamped end of the spring 7, is provided with a screw thread and can therefore be screwed out of the head when the spring has to be replaced if necessary.
The end of the hand lever 2 acting on the axis 12 (FIG. 1) is provided with a stop surface 19 which is intended to cooperate with the axis 12. The position of the stop surface 19 relative to the axis 12 determines the size of the maximum return movement of the hand lever 2. The key head 1, including the cover plate 4, is more or less extended backwards in the longitudinal direction of the hand lever 2, and this extension is one a finger grip form the tongue 20. The tongue 20 protrudes a little to the side of the hand lever 2, and thereby the head can be moved by hand to open the mouth of the key.
With the same hand that holds the hand lever, you can exert pressure on the tongue or tongues 20 and easily open the wrench mouth through the constant joint connection 13, 14 between the hand lever and the axis 12. This is particularly important if nuts or bolts are loose. The key head 1 including the Deek plate 4 is provided around the worm 10 (Fig. 2 and 4) with inclined surfaces 21, whereby a good grip on the worm 10 is made possible when setting the opening of the key.
The bearing pin 3 for the hand lever 2 is so close to the point of application A of the set 14 in the recess 13 that the handle part of the lever forms such a length that when pivoting the hand lever in one direction for the purpose of rotating the nut or screw Jaws hold the nut or the screw head even at the greatest moment to be transmitted, the resultant of the forces being directed towards the fixed jaw 8.
This effect is illustrated in FIG. 1. 30 is the nut to be screwed, which is barely oblique between the jaws when the key is turning in the direction indicated by the arrow. The front part of one lever has the effective length from the stand L, between the bearing pin 3 and the point of application 4 of the projection 14 with the recess 13 of the axis 12. The rear part of this two-armed lever has a length equal to the distance between the pin 3 and the middle point of application of the hand actuating the lever 2.
A front lever L_ also acts on the mother, which must be longer than L1 and which is equal to the vertical distance between the diagonally opposite contact points between the mother and the jaw 8 on the one hand and the mother and the jaw 9 on the other Side is. The force k1 tends to move the jaw 9 against the jaw 8, and the force 7k2 is parallel to k1 and acts in the opposite direction. The relationship here is: k1: k2 = L2: L1.
The difference between these forces or the resultant cunning directed against the fixed jaw.
D) the support pin 5 in the key head 1 is attached relative to the pivot pin 3 of the hand lever in such a way that these two pins cooperate in part to prevent the hand lever from clamping the worm 10 to the key head 1 via its joint connection, whereby the adjustment of the jaw 9 is easy can be performed, and partly in the rest position of the key hold the hand lever in such a clamping position to the key head 1 that the key is strong and resistant, even if it is possibly used as a hammer. The stresses are taken up by the two pins.
As can be seen from the description, you can in a simple, effective manner on the adjusting worm 10 and its bearing axis 12 by swinging the hand lever back after turning the nut ter using the wrench to enlarge the jaw width, unm the jaws over the edges of the nut move and thereby, as required, a continuous tightening or loosening of the nut can be achieved by applying the key accordingly.
In the embodiment shown, the invention is applied to a key in which the adjustable jaw is movable at an angle against the longitudinal direction of the hand lever 2, but it is clear that the invention can be applied in an analogous manner to a key in which the adjustable jaw in the main parallel to the longitudinal direction of the hand lever 2 is adjustable bar. Other items of the invention can also be changed without abandoning the basic idea of the invention.
