A method of applying a treatment liquid to a lock of hair wound around a curler with a view to effecting the permanent waving and curler for the implementation of this method. The present invention relates to a method of applying a treatment liquid to a lock of hair rolled up around a curler with a view to carrying out the permanent hair curler and to a curler for putting on cover. of this process.
Experience has shown that, when said liquid is applied to the hair strand previously wound tightly around the curler, the impregnation is not complete and that, in particular, the tip of the wick, clamped between the curler and the body of the. wick, is not correctly treated, the liquid cannot reach it.
According to the invention, this serious drawback is avoided by creating, after winding the wick, a clearance between the latter and the curler, so as to give air to the loop and to allow the liquid to reach it. all parts for a complete impregnation, This result can be achieved, in a particularly advantageous way, by using a curler expandable in the transverse direction, that is to say a curler having a large section for the winding and a smaller section for impregnation.
The curler may be formed of two halves contiguous along a longitudinal plane of symmetry and interconnected at both ends by members sliding in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the curler passing through openings. practiced in each of the two halves of this curler and which, by their sliding movement, cause the separation and bringing together of the two halves of the curler.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the curler according to the invention.
The fi-. 1 shows the curler in the contracted position seen in elevation.
Fig. 2 is a similar representation of this curler, but in the expansion position.
Fig. 3 is: an end view of the left end of the curler shown in FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 is a section taken along line C-D of FIG. 1.
The, fig. 5 is an end view of the right end of the curler shown in FIG. 1.
The fi-. 6 is. a section along the line E-F of fig. 1.
The curler shown is composed of two shells 1 and 2 made of a metal, an alloy, or in general a material not attacked by the treatment liquid employed. These shells have perforations 3 allowing the passage of the liquid. In the embodiment shown, these shells, in perforated sheet metal, have a united côncavë shape, in order to facilitate the fixing of the lock of hair on the curler.
To each of its. ends, the shell 1 carries a tab folded vertically 4 and 5, pierced respectively with a hole 6 and 7. The lower shell 2 is extended in the same way at each of its ends in a tab raised vertically 8 and 9, the latter, legs being pierced with a hole 10 and 11 respectively.
A slider 12 passes through the holes 6 and 10 which can perform a sliding movement in the direction of the axis of the bi goudi, at the same time as it keeps the two shells 1 and 2 assembled. slide in. holes. 6 and 10 is sufficient to allow the shells 1 and 2 to move away from each other for the expansion of the curler.
The slider 12 consists of a rod whose outer end protrudes sufficiently from the end of the curler to be easily gripped by hand. Inside the curler, this water coulis carries at its end an enlarged part 13 which ends at the sides with olives 14 which engage in. a notch 15 made in the edge of each of the shells and deep enough so that the shells are in contact with each other when the olive 14 is placed in the notch 15.
In this same edge of each of the shells 1 and 2, and between the notch 15 and the end of the curler, a second notch 16 has been made much less deep than in size 15 and whose profile is connected according to a continuous curve with the straight edge of the shells to facilitate the movement of the slide clamped between the shells.
This second notch 16 serves as a housing for the olives when the slide 12 is in its left end-of-travel position of FIG. 1, position in which this slide separates by the olives the two shells 1 and 2 from each other as a result of the bit. depth of the notches 16 which only serve as a stopper for the olives 14.
At the other end of the curler is previl a slider 17 executed in a manner similar to the slider 12 and maneuvering in the same way to ensure the expansion and contraction of the curler.
However, on the end of the slide 17, is fixed in any suitable manner, such as for example by riveting, a head 18 comprising a raised edge 19 provided with slots 20 of which the number may be any, for example shown in the figure comprising five slots of this kind.
In, a hole 21 drilled in the outer end of the slide. 12, on. passes an elastic thread 22, the other end of which is fixed in one of the slots 20 in which this thread is retained, thanks to the fact that its end bears a bulge produced either by means of a part fixed on the end of the rubber, or by knotting the rubber on itself.
The operation of the curler thus arranged is as follows: The curler being contracted, that is to say the two shells. 1 and 2 being in contact with each other (fig. 1), a tensile force is exerted on the slides 12, and 17 so as to move them away from each other, which has the effect to move the shells 1 and 9 - from each other as a result of the penetration of the olives 14 between these two shells. When the olives 14 have reached housing 16,
the shells 1 and 2 are in the spaced apart position shown in FIG. 2. The existence of the notch 16 simultaneously locks the slides 12 and 17 in this position.
The curler being in the expansion position, the lock of hair is wound around it and it is held in the usual way by the elastic thread 22 engaged in the slots 20. This done, the two slides 12 and 17 are pushed back. towards the inside of the curler, which has the effect of contracting the latter and bringing the two shells 1 and 2 into contact with each other (fig. 1).
The hair loop is thus loosened while remaining rolled up, and it is treated with the liquid which easily permeates it from the outside and from the inside of the curler.
It will be noted that the. operation of this curler is done by a simple tensile force, for expansion, and compression, for the reduction of the diameter, that is to say by convenient and easy to perform maneuvers, in particular the reduction of diameter which can possibly be provided by two fingers of one hand.
