Pot for pressure cooking. The present invention relates to a cooking pot for pressure cooking, which is characterized in that it comprises a container with a non-circular opening and having a bearing surface oriented downwards and situated at the bottom. inside the receptacle, at the periphery of said opening, a cover with a minimum transverse dimension less than the maximum transverse dimension of the opening and provided with a rim arranged so as to be able to be underlying said on bearing face is in sealed contact with it,
a rod fixed to the center of the cover and extending vertically from bottom to top, a support mounted at the upper part of the container and cooperating with the latter to occupy a chosen position across said or verture, a device mounted on this support and constituting a bearing surface in which said rod can slide axially, a device making it possible to bring the rod closer and apart axially in an adjustable manner with respect to the position in which the edge of the cover is in sealed contact with the bearing surface, the latter device comprising a control member mounted so as to be able to slide in said support and move along a line transverse to the axis of the rod,
and a device belonging to the rod and with which said control member can cooperate in a direction of its movement, in order to lock the rod in order to prevent the latter from deviating from the position in which the cover ensures the leaktight closure. the pressure of the pot.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 -is a side elevation of a pressure cooker, some parts being torn off and others in section, and the lid being shown in the closed position.
Fig. 2 is a partial vertical section taken on line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
Figs. 3 and 4 are vertical sections along a vertical plane offset by 90 with respect to the plane of FIG. 2 and showing the organs in two different operating positions.
In the drawing, the reference 10 represents in general a container having a bottom 11 and a side wall 12, terminating at its upper end by an inner rim constituting the periphery 13 of the opening of the container. The periphery 13 is not circular, so as to constitute an opening of which a transverse axis of maximum dimension is substantially perpendicular to another axis of minimum dimension.
The cover, designated by the general reference 14, comprises a disc-shaped element the size and shape of which are such that it comprises a peripheral rim 15 arranged to be able to engage under the underside of a rim. 16 facing downward, which advances inwardly from the upper rim of the container, this disc having a minimum transverse dimension less than the maximum transverse dimension of the opening. The rim 15 supports a seal 17 made of a material making it possible to ensure a sealed contact with the bearing surface 16, while being able to easily detach therefrom when it is desired to remove the lid of the container.
A support 19 bearing at 20 and 21 on outer shoulders of the container 10 placed on the opposite sides of the opening thereof, is provided with a bearing 22 in which a cylindrical rod 23, fixed to the center of the cover 14 and extending vertically upward, can rotate about its vertical axis and can be moved up and down relative to member 19 from a position in which the cover is in sealed contact with the surface of 'support 16 (fig. 4) to a significantly lower position (indicated by dotted lines in fig. 3).
In this latter position, the cover and the support 19 are spaced apart at the distance necessary to be able to move the cover through, the opening of the container, to bring it closer to and away from the container. The upper end of the rod 23 is provided with an operating knob preferably having the shape of a metal cap 24, the outer surface of which is surrounded by a shell 25 of heat insulating material, such as only molded material, fixed to the rod 23 by means of a screw 26.
The cap 24 can be conveniently assembled to the rod 23 by crimping the edges of an opening formed in the upper end of the rod (fi ,. 3 and 4). On the part of the rod located above the bearing 22 is placed a coil spring 27. This spring bears, on the one hand, against the inner surface of the cap 24 and, on the other hand, against a ring 28 placed against the bottom of a ferrule 29 integral with the bearing surface 22 of the support 19, and extending coaxially with this bearing surface upwards, widening out.
As shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the upper peripheral part 30 of the viral 29 is arranged so as to be covered by the lower part of the side walls 31 of the operating button 24, when the rod 23 and the button 24 oc hold their position. the highest relative to the ferrule 29.
Consequently, a horizontal shoulder 32 formed inside the upper part of the ferrule 29 on an arc of about 90, can engage with a shoulder 33 formed in the cap 24 to lock the rod 23 in rust. the lowest position with respect to the support member 19, when the operating knob is lowered against the action of the spring 27 and rotated by an angle of 90 with respect to an initial position shown in figs. . 3 and 4, to occupy the position of FIG. 2.
When it occupies the position of FIG. 2, the cover can be tilted and lifted relative to the container along its most band axis, operation during which the support 19 is separated from the seats 20 and 21. In order to provide a clearance for the shoulders 32 and 33 which allows the movement of the ferrule and the cap relative to their locking position, the ferrule 29 has an axial flat 34, guiding the shoulder 33 of the cap 24 along a fixed path.
The spring 27 exerts, preferably, only a force slightly greater than the weight of the rod 23 and of the parts mounted thereon including the cover, so as to ensure a relatively sensitive manual control. rod.
For this reason, the spring 27 is not powerful enough to press the seal 17, so as to create a tight contact with the bearing surface in the container, in the event that there is any irregularity whatsoever. in the contour of the gasket surfaces of the cover and, of the container, or slight variations in the support of the support at 20 and 21.
To ensure complete sealing between the edge of the cover and the cooperating surfaces of the container, a device is used which makes it possible to exert an axial force from the bottom up on the rod and the cover,
force greater than the force available through the spring 27. This control device comprises a slide mounted on the support and can be moved to cooperate with the rod.
As shown in, fis. 3 and 4, the slider comprises a button 35 sliding on the upper surface of the organ 19 and overlapping the longitudinal edges 36 of a slot made longitudinally in the organ 19; one of the arms 37 of a L shaped rod is fixed in this button and passes through said slot; the other arm 38 of the rod extends longitudinally and below the support 19 and can slide lengthwise through a bearing surface 39, provided at the lower part of the support 19. The free end of the arm 38 is rounded to constitute a nose that can be engaged in a transverse drilling 40 of the rod 23.
As shown in the drawing, the bore 40 has an upper face inclined downwards in the direction of movement of the arm 38 towards the rod, so that the latter is gradually raised as the nose of the arm 38 is raised. is brought closer to the position of FIG. 4. In this position, the rod 23 can neither turn nor lower, so that any accidental lowering of the operating knob is avoided. When it is desired to remove the cover, the control button 35 is moved back to the position of FIGS. 3, so as to release the rod to allow the lowering and the rotation of the cover which can therefore be positioned with respect to the major axis of the opening of the container in a relative position allowing the edges of the cover to pass into be the side edges of this opening.
