Phare mixte pour véhicule routier. La. présente invention :est relative à un phare mite pour véhicule routier, compor tant deux sources lumineuses fournissant res- I@eCtivement l''éclairage route et l'éclairage code". Dans le;-;. phares de ce genre, on cherche ill obtenir un éclairage #;
On entend ici-par foyer principal le point de rencontre, après réfraction, des rayons cen traux parallèles à d'axe optique -de la lentille;
En outre, on peut, à l'aide d'éche lons circulaires 7, 7', 7" ..., prévus sur la, moitié inférieure de la lentille L, corriger l'aberration longitudinale F-b' de celle-ci, bien que cette correction ne soit p<B>u</B> iudis- pensable;
L'axe de révolution Z-Z' est horizontal, perpendiculaire à l'axe optique #Ç-_X qu'il coupe çonòrmément à !;
) fornrnle bien connue des miroirs en un point qui est conjugué harmonique avec le -on inret ,S' du réflecieur par rapport au forer f_ du demi-réfleeteur inférieur, d'une hart., et, d'autre part, à. la projection 3" sur 1";
L", L"',</I> etc.
Combination headlight for road vehicle. The present invention: relates to a moth headlight for a road vehicle, comprising two light sources providing respectively the road lighting and the code lighting ". In the; - ;. headlights of this kind, one looking for illumination #;
powerful code, of great width and not dazzling, the beam having to be limited, for this purpose, to a light plunging plane and having to present, on a vertical plane perpendicular to the optical axis of the headlight.
a horizontal cutoff, clear or diffuse, but appreciably rectilinear, at the neighborhood of the maximum intensity, and it is absolutely essential that this recliligrous cutoff is not affected by the tolerances f! c uiiS # ,, in places incandescent filaments relative to the optical system.
In current optical systems, the lack of aplaneum prevents obtaining a straight cut, even when using a straight transverse filament, and makes it necessary. to use, for this purpose, axial <<code filaments arranged in a cup concealing the flux emanating from @ the lower half of the reflector, this filament being exfocused relative to the reflector. dais, in this case, according to the. said filament position approaches one or the other of the axial tolerance limits.
we get Clan - # the axis. of the cotte beam is a black spot below the straight cut-off line. either a shiny spot or egret above this cut line.
By choosing carefully the lamp used and by adjusting the headlight with precision, one can obtain either a very weak central black spot, and thus a beam cut without rising rays, as required by European regulations, or a slight aigrette, located above the cut-off plane and making it possible to achieve, using horizontal dispersive streaks, placed on the exit glass closing the lighthouse, an approximate and diffuse cut according to American practice.
However, the simple replacement of the lamp causes a total change in the result due to the tolerances of the placement of the filament in the lamp: the central black spot can: turn into an egret and vice versa.
As for the road lighting, we are trying to obtain a powerful and wide beam, with a large central spot perfectly dimmed. In addition, the diameter of the exit face of the headlight must have a value as small as it is sticky, in order to allow the headlight to be easily accommodated in the body of the car and to reduce the price thereof. re comes to a minimum.
The lighthouse which is the subject of the present invention uses the principle of the specialization of distinct surface areas on the optical elements which constitute it. 11 'is characterized in that the reflector has two zones of:
distinct surface forming two half-reflectors having different and specialized focal points respectively for the beams coming from <route and <<code filament, these half-reflectors making it possible to focus each of these, filaments, and in that the refractor is consisting of a single main focus lens.
By main focus is meant here the meeting point, after refraction, of the central rays parallel to the optical axis of the lens;
by focal plane of the lens, the plane perpendicular to the optical axis and passing through the main focus; by aberrated foci, the meeting points, after refraction,
marginal rays parallel to the optical axis of the lens. The distance between the principal focus and the extreme aberration focus represents, on the optical axis, the longitudinal aberration of the lens.
As the road filament >> is not obscured by a cup, the specialized semi-reflector for the code beam also receives part of the flux from the road filament and this part of the flux, after reflection by the half-reflector. code is used for side lighting,
while the part of the flux of the route filament reflected by the route half-reflector serves to form the. large central part of the driving beam.
According to a preferred embodiment of the lighthouse, the reflector consists of two half-reflectors arranged on either side of the horizontal plane passing through the optical axis of <B> there </B> lens, the 4 upper semi-reflector, used for -code lighting,
being approximately spherical at least in the top zone,: and the lower half-reflector, used to provide road lighting, being approximately hyperboloid at least in the zone close to the vertical plane of symmetry,
the two code and road filaments being arranged with respect to the vertices of its two half-reflectors so that their: two images respectively supplied by the summit zone of the upper half-reflector and of the lower half-reflector are located in the focal plane of the lens.
@ 1 as Examples, six embodiments of the lighthouse have been described below and shown in the accompanying drawing. Fig. 1 schematically shows, in section and in elevation, a first embodiment.
Fig. 2 represents the course of the light rays for lighting <<code, while FIG. 3 represents the section of this beam by a vertical plane.
Fig. 4 represents the course of the rays for the road lighting.
Fig. 5 represents the lens seen from the stuffing.
Figs. 6 and 7 show two other embodiments of reflectors.
Fig. 8 shows, in section and in elevation, an embodiment of the headlight in which the reflector is formed by the wall of a lamp with two filaments.
Figs. 9 and 10 show two embodiments of a lamp the walls of which constitute the reflector and the lens.
As shown in fig. 1, the headlight comprises a reflector R and a lens L. The reflector R consists of two half-reflectors situated on either side of the horizontal plane passing through the optical axis X'-X of the. lens L.
The upper half-reflector 1 of reflector R, which is intended for coded lighting, is, for example, spherical in shape, with center 0 and focal point f, while the lower half-reflector 2, intended for lighting route, is made up, for example,
by a hyperboloid of revolution around the optical axis X'-X, comprising an anterior focus f, _ and a posterior focus f ,,, the hyperbolliid 2 being the geometrical locus of the points whose difference in distances at f ,
and f. is constant. The <.code 3 filament is straight line and transversal to the X 'X axis; it is said to be placed a little above this axis in a cup 4 whose edge plane Y '- Y passes through the center 0 of the spherical half-reflector 1 and defines after refraction the desired deflection of the code beam >>.
The route filament >> 5 is arranged along the X'-X axis between the code filament >> 3 and <B> k </B> top of the reflector, so that one of its points coincides with the focus f ,. of the lower hyperbol half-reflector:
o'idic, so that its image is formed in f- ,. The focus I 'of. the lens L voineide with the posterior focus f, of the hyperbold'idique half-reflector 2, and the location called code filament 3 with respect to the focus f said spherical half-reflector 1 is chosen so that its image in the.
part eentra. the aplanatic part of this half-.reflector forms in <B> 3, </B> at the intersection of the edge plane 1 "-F of the. cup and the focal plane Pr of 1 :; lens < I> L. </I> The distance from the lens <I> L </I> to the refkct.eur and its diameter being:
determined by considerations of size and efficiency of the lens, the hyperboloidal half-reflector parameters are chosen so that: <B> 10 </B> The divergent beam coming from this half-reflector covers the entire surface of the, len tille, or at least that a ray coming from a point of the filament and reflected by the edge of the half-reflector falls on the edge of the len tille or slightly inside it.
The angle of incidence of the ray reflected ur said edge of the lens does not exceed the acceptable limits for good emergence efficiency (incidence sufficiently far from that corresponding to total reflection).
<B> 30 </B> The distance between the. filament and wall. of. reflector is sufficient to prevent excessive heating of the silvering, in particular when the latter is on the wall of the lamp.
The hyperboloid being thus determined, we will place the <B>, </B> half-sphere forming the half-reflector, higher so that: 1.0 The connection between the edges of the two half-reflectors does not give rise to the code beam,> at rising radii; for this purpose, the spherical half-reflector will be wedged in front of the hyperboloid half-reflector.
The offset between these two half-reflectors is as small as possible: for this purpose, the spherical half-reflectors will be made to be tan internally to the perboloid half-reflecti e.
The fi--. \? represents the course of the rays forming the beam @; eotle. In order to prevent (111t: il @ la e de la, lower part of the coded filament from being projected above the beam cut-off plane, a drawback which was remedied, previously, as recalled above, in exfocal 'i:
sant more or less the filament, the small aplanatic top zone of the spherical half-reflector 1 has its center <B> 0, </B> displaced downwards, by translation or rotation, with respect to the center 0 of the aberrant marginal part of this half-reflector. We obtain in this way that the image 31 of the filament is formed entirely above the extended edge plane Y '- Y of the shovel neck,
and preferably tangentially to this plane, which, after refraction parallel to g, - B, (B1 being the center of the lens, <I> L), </I> becomes the cutoff plane.
Under these conditions, the lowest generatrix g of the coded filament.> 3, seen from the spherical half-reflector 1, gives rise to the image g ,, therefore @ to a reflected ray gl-AB which is refracted over there. lens L parallel to the line g, -B, joining the image g1 of the.
generatrix lower g at the optical center Bl of the lens, so that, seen in the cross section of this beam (fig. 3), the image of the filament is projected at 3 ', just below the line of ZZ cut, which it does not alter. sharpness, and this without reducing the axial intensity of the beam.
Thus, the most rising rays of all those coming from the aplanatic top part of the spherical half-reflector 1 are refracted by the lens L parallel to g, -B ,, so that the beam coming from the central zone of the half reflector is located entirely below the cut-off plane.
On the other hand, the rays reflected by the aberrant marginal zone of the half-reflector, such as the ray g \ -A'-B ', for example, are more folded back or deflected laterally by the. L lens, so that they provide good illumination of the approaches and sides of the road. We thus obtain a beam with a rectilinear cut-off, having strong shades: axial intensity and at the same time a great width.
In the case where we prefer to a sharp straight cut, a. straight cut diffuse line. this can be achieved, for example, by means of suitable horizontal grooves on the lens, or by slightly reducing the occultation. by the cup.
Fig. 4 shows the course of the rays forming the driving beam. As has-been indicated above, the filament route 5 is arranged in <I> ab, </I> along the optical axis X '- X of the lens - and one of its points coincides with the anterior focus of the hyperboloid half-reflector 2.
The combination of an axial filament of elongated shape with a hyperboloidal half-reflector with a focus not far from the top makes it possible to obtain a beam having a large central spot perfectly degraded.
In addition, this filament giving rise respectively in the marginal and central parts of the -demi-reflector 2 to elongated images such as a'-b ', a "-b", makes it possible to perfectly cover the longitudinal aberration Fb' of the lens L and therefore to obtain a high axial power.
On the other hand, the upper half-spherical reflector 1 also contributes to the formation of the driving beam. In the case where the refractor is constituted by a Fresnel lens provided with circular steps 6.
6 ', 6 "..., etc., these make it possible, by correcting the lens, to focus the images of various points of the filament according to the points of incidence of the corresponding rays on the half reflector 1.
For example, for the point of incidence 1 ", we will focus the image of the rear end b of the filament, while for the points closer to the top of the reflector, such as 1 'and 1, we will focus <B> </B> images of filament points getting closer and closer to the leading end a.
The rays reflected by the very aberrant marginal zone of the half-reflector 1 will give rise to converging rays such as that coming from 1 "'and will be used for the illumination of the surroundings of the vehicle and for further increasing the width of the beam <. route.
In addition, it is possible, using circular scales 7, 7 ', 7 "..., provided on the lower half of the lens L, to correct the longitudinal aberration Fb' thereof, although that this correction is not reasonable;
because the route filament, which is axial, gives rise, as indicated above, to elongated images largely covering this longitudinal aberration. However, if more condensed road beams are preferred, it may be advantageous to use road filaments consisting of two parallel rods or in 11, and in this case, the correction of the steps may. be necessary.
To avoid shine or rising rays in code, the central zone of the lens is preferably provided with vertical steps 8, 8 ', 8 "..., the connection between the vertical steps and the annular steps. laries taking place, for example, along a contour 9 in the form of a barrel or keg (Fig. 5).
The! shapes of the half-reflectors indicated above, namely: spherical upper half-reflector and hyper-boloid lower half-reflector. of revolution around the optical axis of the lens, constitute only an example of embodiment, and it It is possible, without departing from the scope of the invention, to provide other forms of reflectors.
It is possible in particular to produce reflector shapes which make it easier to obtain the connection of the upper and lower half-reflectors; for example, the lower half-reflector can be formed by a surface of revolution with a vertical axis, generated by rotation around this axis, of a hyper bolus arc, said axis intersecting the optical axis and not by the center of the upper spherical half-reflector.
The upper half-reflector can also be formed by a surface of revolution whose lies normal to the intersection of this surface with the plane defined by the edge of the. cup are all contained in this plan.
For example, as shown in fig. 6, the upper half-reflector 1 is a surface of revolution whose generatrix is formed by the section G - of the half-reflector 2 by the horizontal plane H containing the optical axis X'-X of the lens L.
The axis of revolution Z-Z 'is horizontal, perpendicular to the optical axis # Ç-_X which it intersects at!;
) well-known form of mirrors at a point which is harmonically conjugated with the -on inret, S 'of the reflector with respect to the drill f_ of the lower half-reflector, of a hart., and, on the other hand, to. the 3 "by 1" projection;
optical ixe X'-X of trace 3 'of the fila ment code>, 3 on the vertical plane of symmetry -1 ", so that the image of 3" in this half-reflector 1 is formed at f_. In addition, the plane F defined by the edge of the.
cup passes through 1 "axc> of revolution Z-Z '. In this device, 14- the last two reflectors 1 and 2 have a common sec lion by the horizontal plane <I> II, </I> so that they connect perfectly without any shift of the vertices.
Likewise, the upper half-reflector]) could have been constituted by a supporting surface. on the section of the lower half-reflector along the horizontal plane H and whose sE # ctions, by vertical planes passing through a vertical axis intersecting the optical axis or 1a: aligned to. this axis, are all made up of (the arcs of a circle all having the same radius.
l'ne, such a surface can be, for example, generated (fig. 7) by an arc of a circle S \ bearing on the generator G,
along which it moves when the vertical plane I 'which contains it rotates about the vertical axis 0-h passing through the center 0 of the osculating circle at the apex of the curve G or around a cutting axis XX' between 0-1a and the 0'-1c axis passing through the center 0 'of the osculating circle at the edges of the half reflector 2.
The toric surface thus formed is limited at its upper part by a curve G 'which is homothetic to the curve G, but the opening thus formed in the surface 1 can easily be closed by a surface element connecting to the surface. toric face generated by <B> <I> S </I> </B>.
The small top zone of the upper half-reflector 1 will preferably be approximately spherical, a result which will be obtained by a slight deformation of the surfaces defined above.
The section of the lower half-reflector 2, via the horizontal plane H, can be hyper bolic or substantially circular. For example, this lower half-reflector can be generated by displacement of a hyper-bolus arc located in a vertical plane by resting on a substantially circular guide curve located in the H plane.
In addition, the half-reflectors thus formed can be extended externally by one or more concave annular surfaces connected to the half-reflectors.
The plane of connection of the two half-reflectors may be arranged slightly below the horizontal plane passing through the optical axis, for example at a distance from the latter of the order of 2 to 3 mm, so that the 'we can be sure that the flux of the filament <.code,> falls on the reflector entirely above the connection, despite the tolerances for placing the filament in the cup which have a large influence,
due to the small distance from the filament to the edge of the cup. This prevents deformation of the cut-off plane by the connection zone.
According to a preferred embodiment of, the invention shown in FIG. 8, the reflector is constituted by the rear wall 11, 12 of the bulb 13 of molded glass of the lamp containing the two filaments 3, 5 and the cup 4, this wall being silvered inside or out for this purpose. The shift of the vertices rS ', and & of the two half-reflectors is of the order of 1.5 mm, that is to say about twice the thickness of the glass of the bulb, which does not entail no difficulty in manufacturing.
For example, in a particular embodiment, the spherical half-reflector 11 has a radius of the order of 40 mm and the code 3 filament is placed about 5 mm behind the focus f of this half-reflector and at approximately 1.5 mm above the optical axis of the system. The road filament has a length of 6 mm.
The same bulb can obviously be used with lenses of different apertures, such as <I> L '. L ", L" ', </I> etc.
The optics according to the invention being particularly advantageous in the case of large-diameter headlights of small diameter, in this case, this headlight can be produced, as shown in FIG. 9 and 10, in which the len tille is formed by the front wall 14 of the bulb 13 which will have for this purpose molded steps 6, 7 and 8,
as in the case of a separate lens. This lens is generally plano-convex or sphero-cylindrical. In certain cases, it may be advantageous to provide on one of its faces different curvatures in two perpendicular planes, in order to act differently on the opening of the beam in the direction of the height and in the direction. of the width.
Depending on the space requirements, these headlamps can be fitted with a greater or lesser depth; the reduction in depth (fig. 10) obviously leads to an increase in the diameter of the mirror which tends towards that of the lens, but, in this case, in order to have analogous regulations, it is preferable to slightly increase the diameter of the mirror. these two organs.
