Vacuum or pressure-tight connection between a ceramic body and a metal fitting. It is known to produce a fusion connection between a ceramic body and a metal fitting with the aid of a glass or enamel melt flow.
A glass ring, for example, is used to form the melt flow, which is inserted into a gap that is bordered by surfaces of the overlapping parts at the connection point and which is reduced in size by pushing the latter into one another, which causes the melting process the glass ring is crushed,
so that it covers wide adhesive surfaces on the ceramic body and on the metal fitting. The adhesive surfaces are often cone surfaces that are made by expanding the Me tallarmatur and a corresponding cone-shaped shoulder on the ceramic body is.
To achieve a vacuum or pressure-tight connection of this type, it is advantageous to use a. Metal with a greater thermal expansion than the ceramic body should be selected, in order to achieve a shrinking effect and to put the glass under pressure when it cools.
If the metal fitting according to FIG. 1 is provided with a conical widening at its edge and is placed on a corresponding shoulder on the ceramic body, during the melting process glass is pushed into the cylindri's gap adjoining the conical gap between the two parts .
During the subsequent cooling, a tensile force is then transferred to the conical edge of the valve because of the greater contraction in the longitudinal expansion with greater thermal expansion of the metal compared to the ceramic body: the armature creates a tensile force that tries to tear it off from the ceramic part. However, the transfer of tensile forces to the connection point should be avoided because glass is less resistant to tension than to pressure.
The tensile forces can cause cracks to form, which lead to leaks, rendering the connection unusable. This disadvantage can be remedied if, according to FIG. 2, at the junction between the ceramic body and Metallarma ture, the adhesive surfaces are designed so that practically cylindrical adhesive surfaces close to the conical adhesive surfaces on the larger diameter side of the cone.
When the metal fitting cools down, the forces generated by pulling together in the direction of the longitudinal extension of the fitting create pressure on the glass, which is important for the quality of the connection.
The invention relates to a vacuum- or pressure-tight connection between a ceramic body and a metal fitting which has a glass or enamel compound at the connection point, which forms conical adhesive surfaces with the connected parts, in which, according to the invention, to the conical adhesive surfaces on the side of the larger diameter. of the cone, practically cylindrical adhesive surfaces adjoin.
In FIG. 3 of the drawing, as an embodiment of the invention, an insulating introduction of a conductor into a metal vacuum vessel is shown schematically in longitudinal section, omitting the parts that are unnecessary for understanding the invention.
With 1 the metal vessel, z. B. a Rückcksilberdampfstromrichters referred to, in which with the help of the support insulator 2 and the conductor 3 an anode, not shown, is to be performed. The insulator 2 is provided at its two front ends with metal fittings 4a, 4b, which, with the insulator, have partly cylindrical, partly conical adhesive surfaces.
For the vacuum-tight connection of the metal caps with the insulator, the glass clay flows 5-a; 5b, which fill the gaps that merge from a cylindrical part into a conical part. The metal cap 4cc is combined with the conductor 3 and the metal cap 4b with the housing 1 by welding - or soldering. In the example, the metal fitting 4b is designed as a flat disc or membrane for the purpose of ela-elastic connection with the housing 1.
In order to relieve the fused connections from the transmission of mechanical forces, on the one hand the insulator is supported against: the housing and on the other hand the conductor is supported against the insulator.
In order to prevent the melt flow from being crushed into a band that is too wide during the production of the fusion connection and, in particular, from being pressed into the cylindrical gap that adjoins the other side of the cone, collecting spaces for the superfluous glass can be provided can be seen .. These collecting spaces can be formed either by recesses in the insulator or by bulges in the metal armature.
The same purpose can also be achieved by limiting the movement of the metal armature against the isolator. Finally, by special shaping of the surfaces delimiting the conical gap, it can be ensured that the glass is mainly pushed outwards by z. B.: the conical surface on the insulator is made steeper than on the metal fitting.
The conical adhesive surfaces can be shaped so that their surface lines are not absolutely straight.
