Bracelet clasp. There are various types of bracelet clasps which all have their advantages and disadvantages. Nevertheless, the clasps of the straps of watches do not generally give complete satisfaction. In fact, these clasps must satisfy a certain number of requirements from the point of view of safety and ease of closing which are not simultaneously satisfied by the known clasps.
Some of these comprise two elements articulated one on the other by one of their ends tt hooking means make it possible to maintain these two elements folded one on the other.
One of the ends of the bracelet is attached immovably to one of said elements, while the other end of the strap carries a buckle, the front transverse bar of which is intended to be placed in corresponding openings made in the side walls, of each of said elements. These.
clasps do not allow the user to modify the length of the strap, which, in the case of watch straps for example, is absolutely necessary. In addition, these clasps sometimes open inadvertently, because no device is provided to limit the angular travel of the buckle.
The present invention relates to a bracelet moiré iron comprising a buckle attached to one of the ends of the bracelet and two elements articulated to each other by one of their ends and one of which is a. tta- ehé at the other end of the bracelet, a lock being provided to hold said two elements elements in the folded position one on the other,
in order to maintain a front transverse bar of the loop trapped between said two elements. This clasp differs from known clasps by the fact that the element of the clasp attached to one of the ends of the bracelet is constituted by a plate presenting two lateral projections disposed near the articulation of the second element to said plate and by the fact that this second element has:
side walls having notches which correspond to each other in pairs and intended to receive said front bar of the buckle, the whole arranged so that said notches constitute a strap tensioning device and that said lateral projections of the first element constitute stops intended to cooperate with the lateral branches of the buckle to limit the angular travel of the latter which can pivot, in the closed position of the clasp,
around its front bar trapped between said two elements folded over one another.
The appended -dessin shows, schematically and by way of example, one embodiment of the clasp object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the clasp in the closed position.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the clasp in the half-open position.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the clasp in the open position, the buckle being however still attached to the upper element of the clasp. In this drawing, the bracelet is shown partially and its two ends are designated by the numbers 1 and 2. The end 1 of the bracelet is fixed: immovably to the end of a lower element 3 of the moiré iron.
This element is formed by a plate provided with two lateral projections 4. The latter are located near an articulation 6 connecting said lower element 3 to an upper element 7.
This articulation 6. Is located at the end of the plate constituting the element 3, opposite to that by which the element is connected to the end 1 of the bracelet. The upper element 7 has side walls 5 having notches 8 which correspond to each other in pairs.
The second end 2 of the bracelet is attached to a buckle 9 comprising two branches. the side 10 interconnected at their front end by a bar 11. The spacing of the branches 10 corresponds to the width of the upper element of the clasp, element which itself has the same width as the plate 3.
A lock is provided to maintain the two elements 3 and 6 in the folded position one on the other. This lock is formed by teeth in hooks 12 integral: of the element 7 and intended for. , engage: in, parts: 13 of the other element.
The ends 1 and 2 of the bracelet are attached to the element 3 and to the buckle 9 by means of: hinges comprising teeth 16 integral with the bracelet and teeth 17 integral with the buckle 9, respectively of the element 3 which engage with each other and:
which are crossed by a hinge pin not shown. Thanks to this type of attachment, the transverse rigidity of the joint in the plane of the bracelet is very great, a feature highly appreciated by users.
The operation of the clasp is as follows. When the user wishes to close the bracelet, it suffices for him to place the bar 11 in two corresponding notches 8 as indicated in fig. 3, then to fold the element 6 on the element 3. As one can realize: account of the comparative examination of FIGS. 1 to 3, the first clasp described constitutes a strap tensioning device.
In the closed position of the clasp (fig. 1), the branches: 10 of the buckle come to rest on the lateral projections 4, - so that: this buckle, which oscillates around: the bar 11 engaged in the notches 8, cannot exceed the angular position shown in fig. 1.
It follows that the buckle and the elements 3 and 6 cannot be placed with respect to each other in a position for which they form an inverted 11, a position in which the inadvertent opening -du clasp could occur.
Finally, the clasp shown in the drawing presents: yet a safety device opposing, in the event of accidental opening of the moiré iron, the release of the bar 11 from the notches 8: in. which it is engaged. This device is formed by the keyhole shape of the notches 8, the entry 14 of these notches corresponding to the diameter of the bar 11 and the bottom 15 of these notches 8 being wider than the entry 14.
By examining the fi-. 3, it can be seen that when the clasp is open, the bracelet being placed on the user's wrist, the traction normally exerted on the bracelet prevents the bar 11 from coming out of the notches 8.
Thanks to the fact that each side wall of the upper element comprises the notches 8, the user has the possibility: to adapt the. length -from the bracelet to his wrist. In addition, as well as the examination of Figs. 1 to 3 shows it clearly, in the open position of the clasp the length of the bracelet is greater than in the closed position.
It follows that the user has no tensile force to exert to engage the bar 11 in the notches 8, the folding of the element 6 on the element 3 causing a reduction in length. of the bracelet and automatically applying it to the circumference of the wrist.
