B. Holz, Kunstsi.-off, Glas und and,-re nicht leitende Stoffe, durchzudringen.
Fig. 5 zeigt wiederum einen Dipol als Strahler 16c.
Method and device for treating a body by means of electro-magnetic ultra-short waves.
The present invention relates to a method and a device for treating a body by means of electro-magnetic ultra-short waves.
The method according to the present invention consists in that the bundled waves penetrating the body to be treated and emitted by an ultrashort wave emitter are reflected back onto the body by means of a reflector arranged on the side of the body to be treated facing away from the emitter.
The device according to the invention for carrying out the mentioned method is characterized by a reflector opposite the ultrashortwave radiator, which is arranged at a distance from the radiator, so that the body to be treated is between the radiator and the reflector Plat. z finds, and the reflector reflects the waves that penetrate the body to be treated.
Embodiments of the method according to the invention and the device for carrying it out will now be explained with reference to the accompanying drawing.
1 shows an example of a device for carrying out the method according to the invention. According to this method, a generator circuit 15 of a type known per se is provided for generating waves with an ultra-high frequency. These waves are emitted by an antenna or a radiator 16. This radiator 16 is coupled to the oscillating circuit by means of an inductance. In Fig. 1 is shown purely schematiNch a wire as a radiator.
The body 18 to be heated, dried, vulcanized, aged or otherwise treated is introduced into the field generated by the radiator 16. The body 18 can for example consist of wood, gumani, plastic, resin, glue, thermoplastic material or the like and forms the object of the electromagnetic treatment.
The waves emitted by the radiator 16 are of a quasi-optical nature so that they can be reflected. The wavelengths of these waves range from 10 m downwards to millimeter waves. Their frequency is higher than 30 megahertz. Electromagnetic waves in this spectral band are suitable for heating, drying, aging, vulcanizing, gluing, binding, melting, polymerizing, catalyzing, cementing, etc. and have the property of being able to penetrate solid substances, e.g. B. wood, plastic, glass and other non-conductive materials to penetrate.
The radiator 16 is arranged within a suitable reflector 20 in such a way that the emitted waves are thrown in a limited bundle onto the body to be treated, as a result of which the energy losses due to the scattering of the worlds outside the treatment field are small. The reflector 20 has a polished metal surface which faces the radiator 16 and which is expediently designed analogously to the reflective metal surfaces known in the optical industry.
The reflector 20 can be of any shape, depending on the desired shape of the beam. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 is the reflector
20 is parabolic, and the radiator 1.6 is arranged essentially at the focal point of the reflector so that the rays are thrown parallel onto the body 18 to be treated. It is clear that differently shaped reflectors can also be used if parallel beams are not desired. The. optically bundled
Rays penetrate the body 18 and are concentrated on the same, so that a maximum treatment effect is achieved and this with small scattering losses.
The parabolic reflector 20 also has the advantage of concentrating the bundled rays at any desired location on the body to be treated, so that the treatment can be carried out locally.
In the device shown in FIG. 1, a reflective metal plate 22 is arranged on the side of the treatment body 18 facing away from the radiator 16, the left surface of which is polished, as is customary in optics. On. In this way, the beams optically bundled by the reflector 20, which have penetrated the body 18, are thrown anew onto the body 18 by the counter reflector 22. A maximum treatment effect is thus achieved.
The counter reflector 22 shown in Figure 1 is designed as a flat plate. But it can also be of a different shape. Its shape depends on the desired distribution of the radiation intensity and the desired concentration on the body.
FIG. 2 shows the application of the method already explained with reference to FIG. 1 to a body 18a of variable thickness.
If, for example, it is desired to irradiate the thicker central part of this liör, pers 18a more intensely, a concave metal mirror 22a is used as a counter-reflector in order to concentrate the rays which have penetrated the body and which are focused by the reflector 20 on the thicker central part of the body 18a . In this way, the body 18a to be treated will experience more intensive irradiation in its thicker part. The counter-reflector 22a can be of any curved shape and inclination in order to obtain the desired change in the concentration of the reflected rays on the body to be treated.
3 shows a device in which the radiator or antenna 16a is designed as a sphere instead of a wire, as a result of which improved radiation characteristics can be obtained. Such radiators 16a have the additional advantage that they form a more concentrated radiation source so that they can be accommodated more precisely in the focal point of the reflector, whereby the scattered radiation is considerably reduced.
Fig. 4 shows a construction in which the radiator 16b is designed as a dipole. This training has the advantage there. B there is greater efficiency compared to the radiators described above.
Fig. 5 again shows a dipole as a radiator 16c. It consists of a tube and an axially extending wire in it. This has the advantage of obtaining a more directed radiation than with the radiators described above.
It is clear that known shapes of dipoles and radiators can be used in place of the dipoles shown in FIGS. 4 and 5. It is also possible to use multiple dipoles if this seems appropriate. The radiator can also be designed in such a way that it generates a conical, cylindrical, right-angled or otherwise shaped beam bundle which can be symmetrical or asymmetrical. The shape of the beam depends entirely on the requirements.
Fig. 6 shows a guided wave radiator, where 21 denotes a coaxial cable which conducts the radio frequency energy. This type of radiator produces a highly directional bundle of rays. The inner conductor 22 passes through an opening 24 in the bottom of a tubular waveguide 25.
The advantage of this arrangement is that no reflector is required to direct the rays.
The device according to FIG. 7 is similar to that according to FIG. 6 with the only difference that the waveguide 25a widens in a funnel shape in order to achieve a somewhat differently shaped directional characteristic.
