Device for regulating the charging current of accumulators that are fed from an alternating current network via rectifiers. Devices used for charging accumulator batteries are usually designed to have a current-voltage characteristic with such a slope that the charging current does not decrease too rapidly when the battery voltage increases during charging. For this purpose, series-connected resistors and inductances are used if such a charge takes place via rectifiers.
These inductances often consist of inductance coils with direct current excitation. The direct current for the excitation of the inductance coils is then conducted from the direct current side or via an additional Gleichridhter from the alternating current side, or from both the alternating current and the direct current side, whereby a device is obtained which the Keeps current practically constant, regardless of battery voltage.
In automatic devices for charging accumulator batteries with the help of such rectifiers, voltage relays, timing relays or ampere-hour counters are also used, which interrupt the charge or reduce the charge voltage to a lower value when the battery is fully charged. This prevents overcharging.
The invention relates to a device for regulating the charging current of accumulators which are fed from an alternating current network via rectifiers, which device has and is intended to have an inductance apule connected to the alternating current side with an exciter device for this purpose a full charge of the accumulator, a reduction of the charge voltage without the help of relays or any moving elements.
In order to achieve this purpose, the excitation device is designed according to the invention and is at least dependent on the charging current in such a way that the charging voltage is automatically reduced when the charging current falls below a predetermined value.
FIG. 1 of the drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention and FIG. 2 shows a curve for explaining the mode of operation of the present charging device.
In the circuit of FIG. 1, the mains voltage is represented by the alternating current queue 1. The secondary winding of the transformer 2, which is connected to the mains voltage on the primary side, is connected to the rectifier 6, which is connected to an accumulator 7 on the DC side.
To regulate the charging current, in the illustrated embodiment, an inductance cartridge d with alternating current flowing through it is used with two exciter windings 4 and 5 flowing through direct current. The winding 5 has direct current flowing through it, which is taken from the rectifier.
This winding 5 has the purpose of reinforcing the influence. a change in the current flowing through the winding has on the excitation of the reactance coil and thus on the inductance of the winding 3.
The winding 4 has direct current flowing through it, which is taken from the rectifier 10.
This rectifier 10 belongs to the auxiliary control device 8, which has the saturable alternating current choke _ 1.5, which receives its alternating current via the transformer -9 from the weekly voltage source 1 :.
In addition, the DielliNsseinriehtung has three tracks 11, 12 and 1'3 through which direct current flows. The coil 11 is traversed by the battery charging current, through the coil 1'2, current flows which depends on the battery charging voltage, and the third STule 13 receives direct current from the rectifier 14, which in turn receives alternating current from the alternating current source 1.
Depending on changes in the load, the inductance of the winding 3 is changed by the control device 8 so that a current-voltage characteristic as shown in FIG. 2 is achieved, with the limits A -f-B of the voltage in FIG. 2 being preferably selected in this way For example, A is about 2.15 volts per cell and B about 2.5 volts per cell. Cell corresponds.
When a battery is connected to the rectifier 6, it is first charged along the steep part of the curve in FIG. 2 to the value B, after which the voltage is automatically reduced to a value which is approximately equal to A, The voltage at which the battery receives the correct maintenance current.
By changing the dependency of the control device 8 on the direct current,, the direct voltage and the mains voltage, which are fed to it on the input side, the values of A and B, as well as the slope of the left-hand part of the characteristic curve can be changed as desired. The connection of the source 8 to the network is important in order to avoid distortion of the voltage characteristic curve as a function of changes in the network voltage.
In the illustrated embodiment, he keeps the excitation winding 4 its current from the control device 8 ″ over .den rectifier 10. However, it is possible to put the winding 4 through a plurality of windings, which are separated by the direct current, - or the DC voltage or the voltage of the network can be fed in, the latter being fed in via an additional rectifier. Such a change works similarly to that described.
One or more of the excitation windings can also be fed with alternating current.
