Machine tool two speed control box. The present invention relates to a machine-tool two-speed control box particularly applicable to the control of a machine-tool spindle.
This new gearbox -is characterized in that the change from one gear to another takes place automatically and is caused by the movement of a movable member of the machine, for example a tool-holder head actuated by the gearbox. speeds, or a workpiece table.
The gear change can be controlled mechanically, hydraulically or electrically.
The accompanying drawing shows a particular form of the new gearbox given by way of non-limiting example.
Fig. 1 schematically shows a tool-holder head whose receiving spindle can be driven at a speed allowing the execution of a bore, this speed then being reduced for the execution of the countersinking of one face, that is, that is, the dressing of a surface using a tool consisting of a blade. The change from boring speed to counterbore speed is done automatically, without the intervention of the worker.
It is combined with the displacement of the tool head which corresponds to the cutting feed, the modification of the bore feed to reduced feed for counterboring, taking place at the same time as, the speed variation . On the spindle 1 is wedged a pinion 2, meshing with another pinion 3 wedged on an intermediate shaft 4. On this shaft is mounted a double clutch 3, 6, for example with discs. In each of the parts of the clutch, a series of discs is wedged on the shaft 4, and the other series is secured to pins 7, 8. These mesh with pins 9, 10, integral with the motor shaft 11.
A movable nut 12 can be moved on the shaft 4 and engages one or the other part of the clutch. In the drawing, we have shown it at a standstill. It is therefore understood that, depending on whether 5 or 6 are engaged, spindle 1 rotates at one or the other speed.
Fig. 2 schematically shows a particular form of the automatic control of the gear change carried out hydraulically.
In this particular case, all the members of FIG. 2 are incorporated in the tool head and move at the same time as the latter.
The nut 12 of fig. 1 is controlled by a lever 13 rotating on a fixed axis 14. This lever is connected to a piston 15 s @e moving in a cylinder 16. Springs 17 constantly tend to return this piston to its middle position. At the two ends of the cylinder 16 open conduits 18 and 19 coming from a distributor 20. In this distributor a slide 21 moves, subjected to the action of a return spring 22. And coupled to a rotating control lever 23. on a fixed axis 24.
This lever can come to meet cams 25 and 26, fixed, on the machine bed. A pump 27 delivers the oil contained in the tank 28 to the distributor.
The operation is as follows: With the machine stopped, the components occupy the positions shown. The drawer 21 closes the passages. of oil. The piston 15 is held in its middle position by the springs 17. The nut 12 is in neutral and the two clutches 5 and 6 are disengaged.
If the machine tool is turned on, an appropriate control quickly moves the tool head on its bed until the tool comes into the working position ahead of the workpiece. At this moment, the lever 23 comes into contact with the cam 25 and switches, moving the spool 21 to the left. The oil delivered by the pump 27 arriving through the pipe 29 can enter the pipe 18.
The piston 15 is moved to the left and the nut 12 engages the clutch 6. The shaft 4 is then driven by the clutch torque 10, 8. The spindle 1 rotates at boring speed.
After its rapid approach, the tool head received a slower displacement movement corresponding to the bore feed. The tool performs its reaming work and, at the end of it, the displacement of the tool head is again modified to obtain a feed rate specific to the countersink. At the end of the boring operation, the lever 23 comes to meet the cam 26 and rocks further. The drawer 21 then places the conduit 29 in communication with the conduit 19.
The piston 16 is pushed back to the right and the nut 12 moved to the left by engaging part 3 of the clutch. Transmission is then effected by the pair of gears 7, 9. The spindle rotates at counterbore speed.
As we can see, the passage from one of the operations to the other is done completely automatically without the intervention of the worker.
It will be noted that the pairs of gears 7-9, 8-10, 2-3 are removable, and can be changed so as to obtain operating speeds of different values.
The arrangements described above are given only by way of example, all the details of execution, the shapes, dimensions and materials employed, may vary in all cases, without changing the principle of the invention.
