Description
Electric tunnel furnace for firing ceramic goods. The firing of ceramic products usually involves reactions that result in vapors that attack the ceramic furnace lining and the items to be fired. At the same time, these vapors are responsible for undesirable sublimations of various types. When burning in tunnel kilns, these vapors migrate under the influence of convection currents in the kiln, from their source, along the vault in the direction of the colder zones, i.e. towards the kiln exits.
In such tunnel ovens, in which the convection flow is given a specific direction by special devices, for example in the case of heat recovery with countercurrent, these reaction products inevitably follow this forced direction of movement. Such atmospheric movements prevent local steam saturation, but it is still necessary to remove the vapors from the furnace as quickly as possible.
For this purpose, as is known, so-called fume hoods are provided in the vault of the tunnel oven, which preferably consist of pipes arranged vertically in the oven ceiling through which the vapors can be drawn off.
According to the invention, on the other hand, a part of the oven ceiling is set off in the longitudinal direction at certain intervals in a sawtooth-shaped manner, and in the niches between the paragraphs there are extractor hoods to escape the steep fronts of the paragraphs in their movement direction Serve vapors.
The invention will be explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment, specifically the figure shows part of a tunnel kiln schematically in longitudinal section.
The ceramic material to be fired is conveyed by means of the carriage 1 through the tunnel furnace 2 in the direction indicated by the arrows. A part of the oven ceiling 3 is formed in the longitudinal direction in certain Abstän with sawtooth-shaped sets 4, and in the niches between these paragraphs 6 extractors are arranged.
In each niche, one or more extractor hoods can be arranged side by side, the latter preferably not being cylindrical, but conical, with the tapering outwards and with their axis perpendicular to the furnace axis.
The reaction vapors generated in the furnace move in the opposite direction to the material to be fired and now hit the steep fronts 5 of the paragraphs 4, as indicated by the dashed arrows, whereupon they move through the fume hoods 6 from the furnace. The special design of the furnace vault intercepts the vapors and allows them to be extracted from the furnace in the shortest possible way.
