Description

Fig. 1 zeigt einen Aufril3 der Form,
Fig. 2 einen horizontalen Schnitt und
Fig. 3 eine fertige Einlage.

Method and form for the production of welding reed inserts.

The invention relates to a method for the production of welding reed inserts made of rubber or latex, which consist of two si cheliform wings connected to one another at their concavely curved edge.

Such inserts have previously been made from rolled rubber sheets from which the two sickle-shaped wings of the insert are individually punched out, whereupon these wings are placed in congruence and glued or pressed together at their concavely curved edge. The finished insert consequently has a seam in the middle, which is disadvantageous. It has also been proposed to manufacture the insert in one piece using a mold on which a coating of Lat. + or rubber solution has been formed by repeated application or immersion. However, this method provides inserts with unclean marginal edges and has not found acceptance in practice, also for the reason that it is associated with a considerable expenditure of time and money.

The method according to the invention consists in that several inserts, each consisting of one piece, are obtained simultaneously without waste by cutting up a coherent cover, which is formed by dipping a mold into the solution forming the insert material and by subsequent vulcanization.

The shape required to carry out this process consists of partial shapes for the individual inserts, which are combined in a star shape to form a common body, which is provided with a suspension member for attachment to the immersion frame.

The edges of the mold on the rib-like parts of the star are expediently provided with grooves, which make it easier to cut the coating into the individual products.

The drawing shows an embodiment of such a shape.

Fig. 1 shows an outline of the form,
Fig. 2 shows a horizontal section and
Fig. 3 shows a finished insert.

The shape shown consists of a body with a star-shaped cross section (FIG. 2), in which the mutually facing surfaces 2 and 3 of two adjacent ribs 4 each represent the partial shape for a product.

The outer edges of the ribs 4 are provided with grooves 5, the cutting of the together. The coating in individual products, as described below, is easier.

For hanging on a conventional immersion frame, the mold is provided with a hook or, as shown in FIG. 1, with a screw bolt 6. The number of ribs 4 of the star can of course be different than shown.

During production, the mold is dipped into latex or a rubber solution that is colored accordingly and mixed with the necessary vulcanizing agents.

The latex or rubber adheres to the mold in the form of a thin coating, after which the mold is placed in the vulcanizing apparatus. After the vulcanization has been carried out, the coating is cut along the grooves 5, as a result of which several finished products are obtained without any waste of material, one of which is shown in broken lines in FIG. 2 and denoted by 7. This product, which is made from one piece and has pure marginal edges, consists of two wings of a sickle shape (FIG. 3) which are connected to one another at their concavely curved edge without any seam.

The form expediently consists of metal, but can also consist of wood, glass, porcelain and the like. It can be made from one piece or from several parts corresponding to the ribs 4.
