Container for growing plants.
This invention relates to a container for cultivating plants and in particular to a flowerpot, adapted to maintain the degree of humidity necessary for the growth of plants, and to avoid deficiencies or excess of water.
Its purpose is to provide the plant with a continuous and regular supply of humidity. It relates to a container for cultivating plants, open at its upper part, characterized in that it comprises a partition made of porous material placed horizontally inside the container, in such a manner. to form two contiguous compartments, the upper part of the container being intended to receive soil, the aforesaid partition being provided with a tube immersing in the lower compartment intended to receive a liquid and passing through said upper part to open at a point located above the upper level of this part.
The accompanying drawing shows, schematically and by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a vertical section of a flowerpot according to the invention.
Fig. 2 shows a section of a variant of the above flower pot.
In both figures, the same reference numerals indicate similar or corresponding parts.
With reference to FIG. 1, the flowerpot consists of a container 1 provided, inside and at a certain height, with a horizontal partition 2 of porous material, forming a compartment 3, which is accessed from the top of the container 1 by by means of a tube or pipe 4 which passes through the layer of soil 5, in which the roots of the plant 6 extend.
The construction variant shown in FIG. 2 differs from the flowerpot shown in fig. 1 by the fact that in the bottom of compartment 3 a hole 7 is provided. This hole makes it possible to renew the liquid contained in compartment 3 and to proceed with the emptying of the latter. This last form of execution is also provided with a peripherical channel 8, communicating by means of suitable openings 9 with the liquid contained in the compartment 3. This channel allows the control of the water level and prohibits at the same time the entry of ants and similar insects.
The size of the flowerpot and its shape depend on the nature of the plant or plants that you want to grow there; the container 1 can be shaped from any suitable or desired material.
Under the conditions described above, water is periodically introduced through tube 4, in order to maintain the necessary supply to thereby ensure the life and growth of the plant.
It should be noted that the above description is given only by way of illustration as a non-limiting example. Thus, various modifications from the point of view of form, construction and arrangement could be made therein without thereby departing from the scope of the invention, as stipulated in the claim.
The arrangement of the container according to the invention also makes it possible to create favorable conditions for the incorporation into the soil of nutrients, such as lime and other mineral salts, thus facilitating the activity and development. subsequent enzymes specific to the formation of each of the incorporated salts. The addition of water to the reservoir regulating the moisture supply in the soil, in accordance with the different cases of biological phenomena which occur there, effectively promotes the development and activity of the organisms appropriate for each of these phenomena, since without moisture life cannot be sustained.
The container for growing plants described can also be provided at its outer circumference with a small channel open at the top and communicating from below with the cavity or compartment made in the bottom of the pot, so that the channel which l the surround may contain a ring of liquid for protection against ants or other similar insects; at the same time, it will indicate the level of the water contained in the pot.
