<B><I>g,</I></B> erfolgen.

Device for the vacuum-tight sealing of the connection point of inechanically connected parts of a Vaktitim vessel consisting of metal and insulating material. In high vacuum apparatus with ion or electron discharge, for example in mercury vapor converters with metal housings, the electrodes can be inserted using porcelain as an insulating material.
because this is both mechanically resistant and absorbs pressure forces and is highly vacuum-tight as well as ülye.rträ..o-t and oeh-r. The vacuum-tight sealing of the connection point between metal parts and parts made of insulating material, however, presents difficulties which cannot be remedied even by the application of grinding surfaces in the connection points.
It has already been proposed to use an elastic intermediate member for vacuum-tight <B> sealing </B> the connection point of mechanically connected parts of a vacuum vessel made of metal and insulating material, which on the one hand is connected to the metal body. eh #% Ä-eis and on the other hand it is connected to the Lolierkörper by a glass or enamel fusion, whereby this intermediate member is not used for the transmission of forces, but only serves sealing purposes.
These elastic sealing members are usually in the form of caps, which are made from sheet metal by a printing or drawing process. The sheet metal must be specially alloyed as an insulating material in order to adapt its expansion to that of the porcelain and is therefore expensive.
During the pressure or drawing process, however, the sheet is now strongly stretched or compressed in places, so that cracking is possible as a result of this mechanical change in the material structure of the sheet, which makes it difficult to use the caps for the vacuum seal.
The result is a large number of rejects and an unfavorable utilization of the expensive material. Another disadvantage of these cap-shaped seals is that the connection points between the cap and the P <B> - </B> orcelain insulator have to be machined with the greatest possible precision, because otherwise the sliding movement required between the two is not possible.
The subject of the invention is a device for the vacuum-tight sealing of the junction of mechanically connected parts of a vacuum vessel, which order from metal and insulating material, in which an elastic intermediate member made of metal is provided which is free of force transmission and welds to the metal body on the one hand on the other hand with, the IoolierköTper is connected by a glass or enamel insulation, for the sealing, with #ve -'- rather the described defects can be remedied,
that according to the invention the elastic connecting link is a ring disk.
In the drawing, two exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown schematically in FIGS. 1 and 2 in a longitudinal section through one half of the electrode inlet of a mercury vapor converter, omitting the for the Understanding of the invention is shown dispensable union parts of the converter. Figs. 3a to 3c show constructive details A.
In the figures, a denotes the porcelain insulator with which a niellt, (-) "(" drawn electrode is inserted into the interior of the metal converter vessel <B> b </B>. Lead-, the anode of a Stromrieliter, this can be screwed into a socket with its anode bolt, or this socket can form a structural part with the anode.
The metal part <B> c </B> is connected to the insulator a, and the latter is mechanically connected to the metal housing <B> b </B> in such a way that the insulator applies all mechanical forces arising in the anode inlet to the housing transferred. The connections between the insulator a.
and the part <B> c </B> of the electrode respectively. the vessel are sealed with the help of the elastic ring disks d., (1, lioehvakuLim-tight. These Riii -, - k \ 11 are marked on the one hand at <I> i, i, </I> with a welding bar on part e. % ## r. on the vessel 1) sealed and on the other hand connected to the insulator at f, <B> f, </B> by a fusion of glass or enamel. The ring disks are appropriately corrugated.
For the fusion of the ring washer with the insulating body, the latter has a Rino'nilt with such a width that deviations in the diameter of the fastening flange that is bent at one edge of the ring washer and protruding into the ring groove are permitted. Di (# Rin-grooves lie in the horizontal planes of the insulator.
The inventive design of the seal as an annular disk not only results in a significant simplification of the manufacturing process because of the simpler shape of the disks compared to the caps z # with the greatest possible avoidance of crack formation and the formation of looks during pressing. but e ,:
you see a -% T "eserit- lent relief, in the manufacture of the <B> Z-, </B> el Sehmelz connection, because all parts of the same are fixed in their position from the start and because they are accurate machined surfaces both in the connection point and for the sealing, in "N # 7e - case.
Another advantage of the standing arrangement of the Schnielznuteii is the possibility of using Cilospulvor as a place of orlas rings. A further aferial saving is given when it is a matter of inserting electrodes (), eii according to the examples with mvt-i abduction, en liiiiidelt,
where the elastic ring washers required for the two. # U-seals are dimensioned so that the smaller one can be created from the larger waste sheet from the larger ones.
The connection between the insulator and the part <B> c </B> of the electrode respectively. the vessel b iciniin # as shown in Fig. 1, with the aid of snap rings g. <B><I>g,</I> </B>.
The parts can, however, be releasably connected by "ie using full 201e11 h, <B> - </B> 14 t5 --e-en c the # Vidpr # lit-er en e, e, am I6o - latoi,
pressed and so secured in their position to one another (Fig. 2). The ring disks d-, <B><I>d, </I> </B> can <B> each </B> be designed differently according to the fastening possibility, such as <B> * </B> for example shown in Figs. 3a to 3c.
Instead of filling the electrodes with the mvei. To arrange seals so that the grooves with the glass or enamel fusion are both open at the top, it is easily possible to train the implementation in this way. that both grooves are open at the bottom.
