Method and device for operating steam engines. Boilers are already known in which the medium to be evaporated is placed under a pressure which is higher than the critical pressure and is brought to a temperature which is higher than the critical.
The subject of the invention is a method for operating steam power machines in which the evaporation takes place at subcritical pressures and temperatures.
The method according to the invention consists in that the medium to be evaporated is heated in the liquid state in the quantities required for operation continuously under a pressure that is above the boiling pressure in question, whereupon the evaporation of the medium under pressure relief under heat supply in a heat exchanger he follows.
The facility for performing this process has one of. a burner heated pipeline through which the pressurized liquid medium is pushed by a pump and furthermore a chamber which serves as a heat exchanger and is heated by the same burner and located in front of the steam engine.
In the drawing, on the basis of which the method according to the invention is explained for example, are shown in FIG. 1 and 2 each show an exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention in a schematic section.
According to FIG. 1, the pipe b branches off from the pump a, which passes through the pipe c in a coil d and opens into the housing e of a valve f. The nozzle g of the burner protrudes into the tube c. This is operated with gasoline, petroleum, oil or generator gas.
The flame first brushes the antechamber h of the cylinder i and then the coil d. However, the reverse arrangement can also be made, in which the coil is directly exposed to the flame. The piston k works in the cylinder i . The former is provided with outlet slits 1 , from which one line leads to the condenser n, the other communicates with the pump a through a pipe o.
The pump pushes the medium to be evaporated, e.g. B. water, under high pressure through the coil d. By the action of the flame burning at the nozzle g, the same is heated; but not that high. that evaporation would occur at the pressure in question.
Through the spring-loaded and specially controlled valve f, when the piston k is in the upper position, the medium enters the pre-chamber 1z serving as a heat exchanger in a finely divided state and evaporates simultaneously as a result of the heat supplied by the burner Immediate pressure relief. The burner flame sweeping the antechamber can also overheat the developed steam.
After the expansion, the vaporous medium enters the condenser n through the slots Z and the line, from which it returns as a liquid through the pipe o to the pump a.
Such piston machines have a large torque, so that, for. B. when using them in the vehicle or. Aircraft construction a transmission can be saved.
The embodiment according to FIG. Z differs from that according to FIG. 1. that instead of the cylinder i and piston k a steam turbine housing p with an impeller q is provided.
