(fig.
Ainsi, la valeur du déplacement du cha riot à grande vitesse est fonction de la posi tion angulaire du boisseau intérieur 3, qui peut être choisie et figée à volonté au préala ble. Or, la position angulaire du boisseau 3 détermine la position du chariot porte-outilà, partir de laquelle il est actionné à la vitesse de travail;
Device for automatic control of the high speed and low speed movement of the tool carriage of a machine tool by means of a hydraulic servomotor. In automatic machine tools, such as a grinding machine for example, it is necessary, in order to minimize the downtime of the machine, to provide a rapid movement of the tool-holder carriage, for example of the carriage carrying the headstock. - grinding wheel, from its retracted rest position to a position as close as possible to the position for which the tool attacks the workpiece.
Now, this last position being variable according to the dimensions of the workpiece and the diameter of the grinding wheel, it is necessary to provide control means making it possible to choose and fix the value of the displacement at high speed of the carriage. In addition, it is desirable that the value of this rapid displacement can be determined with precision, in order to be able to advance the tool at high speed until it comes into the immediate vicinity of the surface to be machined, without however risking attack said sur face.
The present invention relates to a device for automatic control of the rapid and low speed movement of the tool carriage of a machine tool by means of a double-acting hydraulic servomotor.
This control device differs from known devices in that it comprises a valve for controlling the speed of movement of the tool-holder carriage having two concentric plugs, the outside of which is on.
a part of its periphery two openings in connection with supply and departure pipes of the working fluid, while the inner valve has on a part of its periphery a groove establishing for certain relative angular positions of the two plugs a connection between the two lights of the outer bushel,
and by the fact that the angular position of one of the plugs is controlled by a manual control member, while that of the other is controlled by the movements of the tool-holder carriage.
The accompanying drawing shows, schematically and by way of example, one embodiment of the control device.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view thereof, FIG. 2 a sectional view along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
Figs. 3 and 4 show the diagram of the hydraulic and mechanical connections for two positions of the control members.
In the embodiment shown in the drawing, the automatic control device comprises, mounted as a bypass in the supply line C of a servomotor S, a valve V with two concentric plugs 2 and 3, housed in a housing 1.
These wooden buckets are pivoted on an axis 4, rigidly fixed to a fixed part of the machine. The outer bushel 2 has two parallel slots 5 and 6, formed on part of its periphery. The inner bushel has a groove 7 also made on a part of its periphery only, and so as to unite, for certain relative positions of the bushels, the two slots 5 and 6,
one of which is in communication with a supply pipe A for fluid coming from a source of pressurized fluid F (fig. 3 and 4), while the other is in communication with a starting pipe D supplying a hydraulic relay B.
This relay R (fig. 3 and 4) consists of a cylinder 30, in which slides a piston 31 subjected to the action of a spring 32 and which delimits a variable-volume chamber 33, into which the pipe D coming from of the valve V. The piston 31 has two circular grooves 34, 35 which, depending on the axial position it occupies, place a line E in communication with the free exhaust via a line E ,,
either to the exhaust through a member M for adjusting the pressure drop of the pipe E, inserted in a pipe E2.
The inner plug 3 of the valve V (fig. 1) carries at one of its ends an angle pinion 10, meshing with an angle pinion 11. The latter is fixed to the end of a shaft 12 , at the other end of which is mounted a manual control member 13. The latter is mechanically connected to a device indicating the angular position of the inner valve.
This indicator device is constituted by two drums 14 and 16 each carrying on their periphery a scale gra duée 15/17 moving in front of a window 25 provided with two marks (not shown). One of these drums 14 is controlled directly by the manual member 13, while the second, 16, fixed angularly on the shaft 12, is controlled by means of a reduction gear train 18, 19 , 20 and 21.
The drum 14, the angular displacement values of which are multiples of those of the drum 16, constitutes a vernier making it possible to accurately read the angular position occupied by the inner plug.
The outer plug carries at its end a gear 22 actuated by the tool-holder carriage of the machine by means of transmission members comprising a pin 23 and a rack 24. The latter comprises a part 24a engaged in a groove 36 that comprises the cylinder of the servomotor S. The latter consists of a fixed piston 37 (fig. 3 and 4) and a mobile cylinder 38 forming with the piston two variable volume chambers 39 and 40. This cylinder bears on its face external a screw 41 which constitutes the lead screw of the tool carriage 0 of the machine, of which only a part is drawn.
The chamber 39 is connected by a pipe C, on the one hand, to the pipe A of the valve V and, on the other hand, to a source of fluid F via the distributor H and a pipe C1. The chamber 40 is connected by a pipe E3, via said distributor H and a pipe E, to the relay .R.
The distributor H comprises a cylinder 42 and a slide H ,, mechanically connected to an operating member L. The slide H1 has three grooves 43, 44, 45 and two grooves 46 and 47 each connected with a recess 48, 49. For one of the positions of the drawer H ,. (Fig. 3), the groove 43 establishes the connection between the pipes C and C,., so that the chamber 39 is pressurized; the groove 44, on the other hand, connects the pipe E3 to the pipe E, so that the chamber 40 is exhausted.
The cylinder 38, which carries the tool-holder carriage, is pushed in the direction of the part to be machined until it abuts against a frozen part N of the machine.
When the actuator L is actuated in the direction of clockwise, the drawer H ,, is moved to the left of the drawing into the position shown in FIG. 4.
For this position of the spool H ,, the pipe C is exhausted via the recess 48 of the groove 46 and a pipe C2, the pipe Es is connected to the source F of fluid by the 'intermediate a conduit C3 of the groove 47 and the recess 49 and, finally, the chamber 33 of the relay R is exhausted, through the intermediary of the conduit D, from a conduit Dl,
groove 45 and an exhaust duct D2 ment.
In the embodiment of the device shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the valve V consists of the concentric valves 2 and 3. The plug 2 is carried by a rotating shaft G, pivoted in a fixed part and mechanically connected to the rack 24. The wood bucket 3 is pivoted inside the plug 2 and carries a manual control member 13.
The adjustment member M can be formed by any known adjustment member making it possible to modify and fix at will the passage section, that is to say the flow rate of the fluid passing through it.
The operation of the control device described is as follows: In the rest position of component L (vertical intermediate position), distributor H interrupts any connection between source F and servomotor S and between the latter and l 'atmosphere, so that the carriage 0, carried by the cylinder 38, is stationary, for example in its rest position, that is to say back.
If now we actuate the member L in an anti-clockwise direction (fig. 3), the displacement of the drawer H causes, on the one hand, the supply of the chamber 39 by the source F and the setting. exhaust from chamber 40, so that cylinder 38 moves left to right in the design from its retracted position.
The movements of the carriage can be carried out at high speed or at reduced speed, depending on the relative angular position of the bushels 2 and 3. When the relative angular position of these bushels is such that the connection between the pipes A. and D is interrupted (fig. 4), the carriage moves at high speed.
Indeed, the chamber 33 of the relay R not being under pressure, the piston 31 is held in its extreme right position by its spring 32 and the groove 35 connects the pipe E to the free exhaust pipe E, ..
If, on the contrary, the relative angular position of the plugs 2 and 3 is such that the lines A and D are in communication (fig. 3), the carriage is moved at reduced speed, that is to say at the desired forward speed for diving work.
From the foregoing, it can be seen that by fixing the angular position of the plug 3 with the aid of its actuator, it is possible to choose at will the precise position of the tool-holder carriage up to which it. is moved at high speed and from which it is moved at low speed. The value of this last speed is chosen and fixed at will using the adjustment device M.
Thus, the value of the displacement of the carriage at high speed is a function of the angular position of the inner valve 3, which can be chosen and fixed at will in advance. However, the angular position of the plug 3 determines the position of the tool carrier at, from which it is actuated at working speed;
it is therefore possible to graduate the drums 16 and 14 of the indicating device not in degrees of angle, but in millimeters and tenths of millimeters. Finally. stroke, the cylinder 38 abuts against the fixed part N which determines the working end position of the tool-holder carriage.
As can be appreciated, the movement of the carriage can, depending on the relative angular position of the bushels, be effected in the following three ways 10 The whole stroke at high speed. 20 The whole race at low speed.
30 A first part of the race at high speed, the second part at reduced speed.
The first possibility is used to bring the tool-holder carriage into the working position, when longitudinal machining is carried out on the part carried by the table (not shown) by moving the latter lengthwise. In this case, the pressure of the fluid in the chamber 39 maintains the cylinder strongly applied to its stop for the entire duration of the movement of the table, that is to say for the entire duration of the work. The second possibility can be used when the diving work has to be carried out over the entire length of the stroke.
The third possibility is used whenever the carriage stroke is greater than the working stroke.
It is obvious that control devices (not shown) of the position of the tool-holder carriage relative to the cylinder are provided. These devices can be manual or automatic and can be constituted by members causing angular displacement of the cylinder 38, in order to cause the carriage to advance along its mother screw 41.
When the working stroke is finished, it suffices to maneuver the component L in the direction of clockwise (fig. 4) to bring about the rapid return of the tool carrier to its rest position.
Indeed, this maneuver causes a displacement of the drawer Hi which in turn causes: 10 the exhaust of the chamber, 33 of the relay R through the groove 45- and the DZ pipe , 20 the exhaust of the chamber 39 of the servomotor 8 through the recess 48, the groove 46 and the pipe C, Therefore, the pipe A is also escaped is lying.
30 the supply of the chamber 40 with pressurized fluid, via a line C3 of the groove 47 and the recess 49, and of the line E3.
Note that line A and line D are on the exhaust, so that these two lines are unloaded, even if valve Y interrupts the connection between them. It follows that the chamber 33 is always exhausted, whatever the relative positions of the plugs 2 and 3. Thus, the relay can return to its rest position (fig. 4) under the action of the spring 32. In addition, the chamber 39 of the booster being released to the free exhaust, the movement of the carriage takes place at high speed.
The control device described has the great advantage of making it possible to adjust with great precision the exact point of the stroke of the tool-holder carriage from which the displacement takes place at reduced speed. It is therefore possible to bring the tool at high speed to the immediate vicinity of the workpiece and thus reduce downtime in this way.
Finally, when work must be carried out in several passes, the angular position of the rods of the valve V can be determined once and for all, the advance between each pass being effected by rotation of the lead screw 41 and therefore of the relative position of the carriage with respect to the cylinder 38.
An embodiment of the control device has been described, by way of example, with reference to the appended schematic drawing; but it is obvious that variants of details can be provided either in the constructive parts or in the hydraulic connections, without departing from the scope of the present invention.
