Iron cap seal for bottles with a bead-shaped rim.
The known Kronkapponversehliisse for bottles have the disadvantage that after their loden they can no longer be applied tightly to the ring bead sitting on the bottle neck end. The contents of the bottle must therefore be used up as soon as possible, especially if it is easily perishable.
In order to remedy this disadvantage of the Eron cap closures, repeatedly usable closures have been proposed, which are to be attached to the bottle in place of the Eron cap closures removed from it. 13s these are, for example, rubber caps or rubber balls provided with a retaining ring, or they are metal closures with a lever by means of which they must be clamped to the bottle neck. Such additional losses are relatively expensive.
In contrast, the bottle cap closure can be used repeatedly for bottles with a bulging rim according to the invention. It has a cap with a resilient edge to be gripped over the bottle bead, which edge is divided into at least partially resilient tongues by incisions, and contains an insert made of elastic sealing material.
The essence of the invention is that the tongues are at least partially provided near their roots with an inner projection which is intended to reach under the bottle bead when the closure is closed in order to press the seal onto the bottle opening, and have a bead at the free end , which serves as a contact surface for the hand opening the lock, in order to enable the lock to be opened and replaced without the use of a special auxiliary device.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, namely FIG. 1 shows a side view, partly in section, of a crown cap closure applied to the neck of the bottle, and FIG. 2 shows a plan view of the closure.
The closure consists of a happe 8 made of resilient material, for. B. made of sheet metal, the bead-shaped edge 3 of which is divided into six resilient tongues 3 by incisions 1. A bead 4 of the edge 3 with an approximately V-shaped cross-section cooperates with the bottle edge bead 5 in such a way that in the closed position it engages under the bottle bead and, lying on its underside, the upper end wall of the cap 8 with the elastic inserted into the cap Cork seal 9 presses against the mouth edge of the bottle 6. If you want to open the closure, you press with your hand or.
with one or more fingers against the bead 3, while the re-closing is done by simply pressing the cap 8 onto the bottle mouth.
The cup can also be shaped differently than shown. Instead of the bead 4, a massive rib with an A-shaped cross section could be provided. The material and thickness of the fold as well as the number of incisions determine its resilience. Under certain circumstances it is sufficient not to make all tongues 2 resilient, but rather only one or two or half of all tongues.
In order to secure the lock during transport or to protect it against unauthorized opening, it can be provided with an additional wire ring or with a resilient ring which is pressed into the bead 4 on the outside and must be released before the bottle is opened; the same purpose can serve a cord wrapped around the bead 4, which can also be sealed. The cap 8 can be made of llletall or some other resilient material, e.g. B. made of wood or synthetic resin, and the elastic sealing insert 9 made of a material other than cork.
The production of the cap from sheet metal is expediently carried out in such a way that a round sheet metal disc is first pressed into the shape of a cylindrical cap, whereupon the bead 4 is pressed in by machine and the bead 3 is produced by flanging; at the end the incisions 1 are sawn in. However, you can also punch out a star-shaped piece of sheet metal with V-shaped gaps, press it into the shape of a cap and finally attach the bead 4 and the bead 3.
Large quantities of the closure will expediently be produced on a machine.
