Einspr itzbrennkraftmasehine.
was wieder die gute Gemischbildung beeinträchtigt.
Injection combustion engine. The present invention relates to a four-stroke, self-igniting, luftver dense internal combustion engine with one inlet and one outlet valve in the cylinder head and one in the piston head with respect to the cylinder axis eccentrically arranged, at least partially axially symmetrical shape be seated through a narrowed opening with the cylinder chamber in Combustion chamber connected, into which towards the end of the compression stroke through an injection nozzle arranged in the cylinder head, the axis of which is offset paral lel to the cylinder axis, liquid fuel is injected in a closed jet.
In internal combustion engines with a combustion chamber in the piston, it is of paramount importance that the nozzle axis (the fuel jet) coincides with the axis of the air vortex flowing into the combustion chamber for good mixture formation and, in particular, for the fastest possible spread of combustion. With the intention of maintaining this coincidence of the nozzle axis and air vortex axis even if the nozzle axis has to be moved out of the cylinder axis due to larger valves, the combustion chamber axis has also been relocated from the cylinder axis to the nozzle axis.
However, the intention to maintain the coincidence of the nozzle axis and the air vortex axis was not enough. Because only when the axis of the combustion chamber coincides with the cylinder axis, the axis of the air vortex also coincides with the axis of the combustion chamber. If, on the other hand, the axis of the combustion chamber is moved out of the cylinder axis (for example to the right - Fig. 1), the axis of the air vortex no longer coincides with the axis of the combustion chamber, but lies to the side (right) of it.
In this way, however, the axis of the air vortex does not coincide with the nozzle axis (located in the combustion chamber axis). Only through the present invention can it be achieved that the axis of the air vortex coincides with the nozzle axis.
The invention consists in placing the combustion chamber axis between the cylinder axis and the offset nozzle axis in order to achieve good mixture formation and combustion and thus good engine performance.
Since now the nozzle axis does not coincide with the axis of the combustion chamber, in two of the exemplary embodiments of the invention described below, special precautions are taken to ensure that the fuel jet is unevenly atomized on the combustion chamber floor in different directions according to the different amounts of air in these directions.
In the drawing, the subject matter of the invention is shown in some embodiments, for example.
Fig. 1 is a central section through the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine and the upper part of the piston.
Fig. 2 shows schematically the associated top view.
FIGS. 3 and 4 show a central section together with the associated schematic plan view; and Fig. ä shows a central section of two further exemplary embodiments.
In Figs. 1 to 1, 1 is the cylinder axis. 2 is the nozzle axis, 3 is the combustion chamber axis, 4 is the large inlet valve, and 5 is the outlet valve. In the case of combustion chambers that are not axially symmetrical in all parts (Figs. 3 and 5), the axis 3 of the combustion chamber is to be understood as the axis of the axially symmetrical combustion chamber part.
The test bench shows that, in general, the minimum of the leg: correcting the mixture formation is achieved when the combustion chamber axis is considerably closer to the nozzle axis than to the cylinder axis.
This phenomenon can also be explained in terms of flow technology as follows: If, in case 1, the combustion chamber axis is left in the cylinder axis and only the nozzle axis is shifted sideways, the axis (axis of symmetry) of the air flows and air vortices in the combustion chamber with the diaphragm will fall - The sensor axis, that is, does not coincide with the axis of the fuel jet, which affects the formation of the mixture and the burning time.
But even if, in case 2, the axis of the combustion chamber is moved laterally into the nozzle axis, the axis of the air flows and air vortices in the combustion chamber does not coincide with the nozzle aisle, i.e. with the axis of the fuel jet.
Because as soon as the axis of the combustion chamber is moved out of the cylinder axis, the air flow into the combustion chamber is no longer symmetrical to the axis of the combustion chamber. Rather, the axis of the air inflow is located if, for example, as shown in Fig. 1, the combustion chamber aclise is shifted to the right, to the right of the combustion chamber axis. So if you let the axis of the combustion chamber coincide with the nozzle axis, then the axis of the air inflow does not coincide with the nozzle axis, i.e. not with the fuel jet,
which again affects the good mixture formation.
If, on the other hand, case 3, the Brennrauni axis shifts less sideways than the nozzle axis, for example as shown in Fig. 1, then the axis of the air inflow located to the right of the combustion chamber axis can coincide with the nozzle axis. with your fuel jet, and thereby improve the mixture formation, combustion and performance.
Fig. 3 shows the application of the invention to an engine whose combustion chamber does not have the usual, completely axially symmetrical shape with a concave bottom shown in Fig. 2, but a special impact surface for the fuel jet raised above the combustion chamber bottom, which The purpose is to direct the fuel jet atomized in all directions against the center of the air vortex located relatively high above the combustion chamber floor in large combustion chambers.
With the usual shape of the combustion chamber with a concave base as shown in Fig. 1, the position of the axis of the combustion chamber between the cylinder axis and the nozzle axis in and of itself, i.e. without any further measures, means that the fuel jet does not hit the floor area perpendicularly, and thus one for the mixture formation brings about favorable, unequal distribution of the fuel quantities in the sense of the different sizes of the air quantities on both sides of the fuel jet.
On the other hand, in the case of the combustion chamber with an increased impact area according to Fig. 3, particular attention must be paid to the fact that in this case too there is an uneven distribution of the fuel quantities in different directions over the unequal air quantities in different directions. This is achieved by giving the increased impingement surface a correspondingly different inclination to the combustion chamber axis in the various directions.
The embodiment according to Fig. 5 be intended to improve the embodiment according to Fig. 1 by better coordination of the radially unequal size of the air spaces around the fuel jet with the differently atomized amounts of fuel according to the various sides.
This is done in the embodiment according to Fig. 5 in that the axis of the combustion chamber 3 is slightly displaced relative to the axis of its circular inlet opening 3'i (by the position of which the axis of the inflowing air vortex is determined), whereby at the same time the size of the unequal air spaces with respect to the fuel jet and the unequal atomization of the fuel jet in these spaces is changed. The axially symmetrical shape of the combustion chamber is largely retained.
