Surge arrester with blow funnel line. The lightning arresters with spark gaps in the simplest form, as used to protect overhead lines, consist of a tube made of insulating material that emits gas in the heat and is provided with metal electrodes at both ends, the latter with earth and connected to the line to be protected.
In many cases, between the blowing spark line and the line to be protected, resp. Earth an air gap as a response spark, distance switched on so that the full voltage is not permanently on the blow spark gap :. This is necessary because the gas-emitting insulating material is usually hygroscopic, and conductive current paths are created on the surface and inside the pipe during continuous operation outdoors.
After repeated shutdowns, especially with high switching capacities, the pipes are burned out, i.e. the bore becomes larger than in the initial state, and all pipes have:
then a smaller breaking capacity. Without a careful examination of the arrester, however, it is not possible to determine whether it will still function with sufficient reliability and in what condition the electrodes located in the interior are.
The invention is now based on the use of a transparent, electrically isolating material for the blowpipe, z. B. a thermoplastic insulating material from the group of acrylic resins. With a suitable choice, such substances have good mechanical and electrical properties, give off an inactive gas when heated, are transparent, very weather-resistant and mechanically easy to shape and process - so that the blowpipe can be made in a suitable shape , the electrodes can be easily and securely attached and in operation due to its transparency at any time the bore and the z. B. inside be sensitive electrodes can be controlled.
Also, due to the good properties of the pipe material, the blast spark gap may not need to be connected upstream. The latter can be surrounded by a housing made of the same material as the blowpipe, which can be built together with the former.
Embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in FIGS. 1 to 3. In these figures, 1 is the high voltage line to be protected, 2 the upper electrode of the blown spark gap, 3 the lower electrode of the blown spark gap, 4 the earth line and the blowpipe.
Fig. 1 shows an embodiment with a smooth blowpipe; 2 shows one with visors 6 made of the same material as that of the blowpipe; 3 shows an embodiment with the response spark gap 7-7 connected upstream of the blower spark gap in a housing 8 made of the same material as that of the blowpipe and together with it.
