Device for blocking out X-rays. In the case of fluoroscopy with X-rays, it is customary to block out the X-ray beam as far as it is permissible to look at the area to be observed. This is mainly done to limit harmful secondary radiation.
In order to be able to search a body to be examined with the shielded bundle, the X-ray tube and the fluorescent screen are usually coupled and can be adjusted together in the vertical and horizontal directions. The X-ray tube is arranged in such a way that the center of the diaphragm, which is permeable to the beam, meets the center of the screen. coincides.
The device for masking the rays generally consists of a housing in the form of a flat box with a window attached to the X-ray tube. Ir. This housing is. The screen, which is made of a material that strongly absorbs the X-rays.
In general, one works with a bundle of rectangular cross-section and the size and the ratio of the lengths of the sides of this cross-section are variable.
The housing then has a square window, and the screen is bounded by two pairs of coupled sliders, one pair in the vertical direction and the other pair ih: horizontal direction symmetrical = with respect to the center lines of the square; Movable window bind.
The movable system formed by the X-ray tube and the fluorescent screen represents a considerable mass, and although it is balanced by counterweights or springs, the continuous adjustment of this mass during fluoroscopy requires a fairly large physical amount in the long run Effort.
If the housing with the diaphragm is arranged to be movable with respect to the X-ray tube, so that the center of the opening of the diaphragm can be adjusted in every direction in its plane, this arrangement consequently forms an improvement. Any part of the radiation beam emitted by the X-ray tube can be admitted to the fluorescent screen and the entire object can be searched during transillumination by only moving the housing with the aperture in front of the X-ray tube.
The X-ray tube itself and the fluorescent screen no longer need to be moved.
The invention aims to make the movement of the housing superfluous. According to the invention, in a device for masking out X-rays, in which a diaphragm is arranged in a housing provided with a window permeable to the rays, the diaphragm is movable in relation to the housing so that the center of the diaphragm opening is movable in relation to the center the window is adjustable,
in order to be able to move the masked X-ray beam over the fluorescent screen. By means of the device according to the invention, the shielded X-ray beam can be moved over the fluorescent screen without the need to adjust the X-ray tube or the housing of the screen or the screen.
Both a diaphragm with a fixed opening and a diaphragm with an adjustable opening can be used, e.g. B. a diaphragm formed by two ternary plates or an iris diaphragm.
The panel can preferably be adjusted so far that the edge of the opening can still be brought up to the edge of the window for the smallest opening to be set. It: can: then cover as large a field as possible, no matter how wide the aperture is open. The larger the opening, the smaller the required deflection.
A diaphragm for achieving a rectangular cross-section of the beam, which is provided with the usual four closure plates each delimiting one side of the cross-section of the beam, can be provided with an i @ Ieelianism for moving the closure plates with respect to the housing,
with the two opposite sides of the Reehteeliss both in opposite directions symmetrical to the rectangular axis parallel to them and in the same direction with constant distance can be moved.
The operation of such a device can be easier than that of the aforementioned device in which the housing. moved with the aperture. With the latter, you need separate buttons for the selection of the size and for the selection of the location of the opening in relation to the X-ray carrot, because in one case only the locking plates have to be adjusted, in the other case moving force has to be exerted on the housing .
In the above-mentioned embodiment of the device according to the invention, in both cases it is the same parts, namely the locking plates, which have to be adjusted, and these are similar movements. so that only control buttons for the locking plates are required.
Expediently, two opposing closure plates are mechanically connected to an adjustable part that can be moved by means of an operating button, where this part can be displaced along a line and also rotated about an axis intersecting this line. One movement of the closure plates can then be caused by the linear displacement, the other by the rotation of the adjustable part.
In Figure 3 of the accompanying drawings. for example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention is shown schematically.
In the fi. 1 and 2 are also two examples of the mechanism of movement of only one pair of locking plates very schematically shown. while FIG. 4 shows the operating handle of a device embodied in the rest of the type of FIG.
The two verselilussplatten delimiting the right-hand sides of the rectangular bundle cross-section are designed as flat slides denoted by 1 and in FIG. 1. One can imagine that the upper slide 1 by means of. a rod 3 is suspended from one end of a lever 4, the other end of which can be moved up and down by the rod 5.
This rod is adjusted for its part by means of a yoke 6, which is to be considered as the aforementioned adjustable part. At the other end, the yoke is suspended by the rod 7 - the lower slide 2. The center of the yoke 6 is displaceable bar in a vertical groove B. At this central part, the handle 9 be fastened.
By means of this handle, the yoke 6 lengthways. the line 10 is itself lifted up parallel to itself, that is, moved until it occupies the lab indicated by the line 11. The rod 4 turns around, the point 12, and the slide 1 sinks, with the slide 2 being lifted up by the rod 7 at the same time. The plates 1 and 2 then move closer together., I. H. , the gap marked a becomes narrower and narrower, but the middle of the gap remains in the same place. Finally the gap is closed completely.
The yoke itself can also be rotated about an axis perpendicular to the line 10 through the point 13 by means of the handle 9. The yoke 6 arrives .dann z. B. in the indicated by the line 14 position. During this movement, the left end of the lever 4 sinks, and the slide 1 rises, while the slide 2 also rises.
The distance between see the. opposite side end of, the plates 1 and 2 limited rectangular bundle cross-section, so remains constant, but the gap is adjusted from a, to, b.
By means of the handle 9 is so. the vertical width of the, gap. changeable, but also the gap in the vertical direction over the fluorescent screen adjustable.
The device can also be such that the gap is adjusted by moving the yoke 6 along the line 10 and the width of the gap is changed by rotating the yoke around the point 13. This is illustrated in FIG. 2. The panels are both suspended from the yoke by a rod, panel 1 by rod 16 at the right end and panel 2 by rod 15 at the left end.
A similar mechanism can be used for the plates delimiting the vertical sides of the rectangle. The four movements, can. can therefore be carried out using two control buttons. Instead of using levers and rods, the locking plates can be moved using a system of Bowden wires.
Such a system is in. Feig. 3 shown schematically. It contains the housing, the cover, the food, the head plate. having square window 22, designated by 2 @ 1. Two locking plates 23 and 24 delimit the vertical,
two other closure plates 25 and 26, the horizontal right-hand sides of the rectangular cross-section of an X-ray beam penetrating through the window 22.
The plates 23 and 24 can be moved in the horizontal direction by means of Bowden wires 27 and 28. The springs 2,9 and 30 pull them together "and the gap between the plates narrows. 23 and 24 by mass when the wires 27 and 28 are released.
The plates 25 and 26 can be moved in the vertical direction by means of bow-dend wires 31 and 32 in the same way.
The end of the wires 27 and 28 is connected to a slidable and rotatable yoke 33, the end of the wires 3,1 and 32 .mit a slidable and rotatable: yoke 3.4 a related party. If the yoke 34 is moved upwards, the wires 31 and 32 are both released and the gap between the two is narrowed; Plates 25 and 26.
If the yoke 331 is moved upwards, the gap between the plates 23 and 24 narrows.
The yoke 34 is shown horizontally and the yoke 33 is shown obliquely, due to the fact that the gap is pushed to the left of the window 22. If you turn the yoke 33 about the axis 35 in a clockwise direction, the wire 28 is pulled, but the wire 27 is released at the same time.
The sight glasses 23 and 24 then move simultaneously with constant mutual spacing across the window 22 to the right, and this rotation of the yoke can be adjusted until the opening 36 of the diaphragm is in the extreme position on the opposite side of the window 22 is located. In a similar way, by rotating the yoke 34 about the axis 37, this opening can be displaced in the vertical direction.
A precise adjustment of the vertical or horizontal gap width can be achieved by a screw movement. In a variant of the device shown in FIG. 3, the control button is attached to a screw spindle which can be rotated about its axis by means of this button. The screw spindle is also rotatable about an axis that intersects the axis of the spindle. She carries a mother who. : when Dre hung -the spindle does not rotate around its axis and by means of transferring its movement to the closure plates, z.
B. Bowden wires connected to these. In the present case, the mother forms the adjustable part; it is moved by turning the screw along the axis of the screw spindle and can also be rotated about an axis that intersects the axis of the spindle.
The movement mechanism of the diaphragm can be made even simpler if the operating head of one pair of locking plates is arranged next to the operating button of the other Pa.axes. By shifting the adjustable part assigned to a pair of plates along a line and by shifting the adjustable part assigned to the other pair of plates along the same line, the one movement of the locking devices, z. B. - the opening and closing of the gap achieved.
By jointly pivoting the adjacent operating buttons about two axes intersecting at a point of the line mentioned at a straight angle, the other movement of the closure plates can be achieved, so in the example mentioned the adjustment of the gap. Here two. coaxial screw spindles are used, of which one protrudes from the other and which are each provided with a rotary knob and a nut, whereby they are supported on a yoke,
which can be rotated around a point on the common axis of the screw spindles by means of a universal joint or a ball joint. Bowden wires are attached to the two nuts to transfer the movement of the nuts to the closing plates of the cover.
The Men tel these Bowden wires are attached with their ends symmetrical to the bearing foot of the joint on a base plate and end par allel to the central position of the common axis of the screw spindles.
This variant of the device according to FIG. 3 is shown in FIG. A screw spindle 41 is rotatable in a tube 42 and rests in a foot bearing 43. The tube 42 is also provided with screw threads on the outside. The foot bearing 43 is. attached to a joeb part 44. To support the coaxial screws spindles 41 and 42, a plate 45 and a shell 46 are attached to the yoke part 44.
The Sphidel 42 extends outward through an opening in this shell 46 and is laterally supported therein. Below the yoke 44-46 there is a cardan joint 47 which has a bearing foot 49 fixed on a base plate 48, the joint center point on the common axis. 52 of the screw spindles 41 and 42 is so that the yoke 44-46 and the screw spindles 41 and 42 are pivotable about this center point.
The screw spindle 41 carries. a nut 50. At the end of the spindle 41, which protrudes from the spindle 42, an operating button 51 is attached. When this knob is rotated, it rotates the spindle 41 and its axis, and the nut 50 lii.n "s of the axle 52 is adjusted. The spindle 42 also carries a nut labeled 53 and an operating button 54.
When the knob 54 is rotated, the nut 53 moves along the axis 52. The rotation of the nuts 50 and 53 is prevented by rods 55 and 56 which slide between two intermediate walls 57 attached to the shell 46. When the adjustable parts 50 and 53 move along the line 52, the yoke does not move with it.
When the buttons 51 and 54 are rotated, the Fowden wires 58 and 59,: which are attached to the nut 50 with their ends, and: the Bowden wires 60 and 61, indicated by dashed lines, lying in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the drawing, with their En, which are attached to the nut 53, attracted when the nuts are moved away from the yoke part 44 and released when they are moved towards the yoke part 44. Die En, which are attached to the nut 53, are attracted when the nuts are moved from the yoke part 44
They slide over a spherical surface of the yoke part 44 and through radial slots 62 in the plate 45.
The jackets 63 of the end wire ends are attached parallel to the central position of the axis 52 and symmetrically to the bearing foot 49 in the opening of the base plate 48. They are surrounded together by a funnel 64 which is attached to the base plate and which merges into a tube 65 which can be flexible so that it can easily be laid along the components of the fluoroscopic stand.
The other end of the wires 58 and 59 can be thought of as the closure plates that limit the isenkrechte .Seiten of the cross section: of the X-ray beam and the other end of the wires 60 and 61 on the other two closure plates.
If now by, the rotation of the Knop fes 51, the nut 50 is moved from the yoke part 44, the wires 58 and 59 are pulled away by the same distance. The jaws of the sealing plates to which the wires are attached, e.g. B.: the plates 23 and 24 (Fig. 3), so move away from each other.
One goes just as far to the left as the other to the right. The gap between the plates thus becomes wider, but the center of the gap remains in the same place. Something similar happens with the other two plates when the nut 53 is moved away from the yoke part 44 by turning the knob 54.
When the nuts are moved in the reverse direction along the axis 52, the springs 29 and 30 (Fig. 3) have the effect that: the wires remain stretched and the jaws of the locking plates move closer together so that the gap becomes narrower without each other adjusted the center of the column. With the two adjacent control buttons 51 and 54, the size and the ratio of the sides of the image field can be regulated.
The spindles 41 and 42 are also about an axis 66 (perpendicular to the plane of the drawing), which intersects the axis 52 perpendicularly, and can be pivoted about an axis 67, which the axis 66 at the same point. how the axis 52 intersects perpendicularly. The shell 46 is designed like a hemisphere: the center of which lies at the intersection of the three axes 52, 66 and 67. It is partially enclosed by a dust cap 68 which: has a spherical part which adjoins a cylindrical part fastened on the base plate 48.
If the spindle 41 is pivoted about the axis 66, so that the axis is adjusted from 52 to 69, the wire 58 is released, while the wire 59 is tightened. The jaws of the closure plates 23 and 24 then both move in the same direction and their opposing spacing remains invariable. The center of the gap is now adjusted via: the image field, but the gap width remains unchanged.
The other two plates do not move, because the wires 60 and 61 move around: the edge of the: Schilitze 62 in the plate 45, but do not move in their own direction.
If one wishes to raise or lower the gap, this can be done by: that the: spindle 42 is rotated about the shaft 6 7. In: this case the wires 58 and 59 do not move, but they bend only around the edge of the slots 62 visible in the drawing, while the wires 60 and 61 move the plates 25 and 26 in: the same direction - effect.
You can combine the four movements described Be and consequently bring the center of the aperture of the aperture in every point of the image field and the opening: make it as high and wide as the slide construction in the housing 91 allows. Because a clockwise rotation generally corresponds to a locking movement, it is practical to provide the spindles 41 and 42 with a left-hand thread.
If you can then. buttons. 51 and 54 rotates clockwise, the nuts 50 and 53 move towards the yoke 44, and the wires are released so that the gaps close.
Something like that. can of course also be achieved with a right-hand thread if the movement is transmitted to the diaphragm device by a lever system or by gearwheels in the opposite direction. The springs must then be the locking plates. push apart. Such a reversing system can also be used to avoid the plates. to make it bigger or smaller.
Ease of use is also promoted when the upward movement of the buttons 51 and 54 coincides with the lifting of the opening 36 and the movement of these buttons to the left with a lateral adjustment of this opening to the left. This can. when attaching the operating mechanism shown in FIG. 4 to the tripod. Searching the image field and setting the opening is then extremely easy.
