Electrolytic capacitor with a metal vessel that is sealed by a disk-shaped body made of insulating material. The invention relates to an electrolytic capacitor which is housed in a metal vessel which is sealed by a disk-shaped body made of insulating material, this disk having an opening through which an electrode is guided to the outside in a liquid-tight manner and insulated from the vessel.
Various construction arrangements have already become known for sealing the metal condenser vessel. In general, a disk made of insulating material, such. B. a condensation product of phenol or another synthetic resin is used, whereby the lead-through conductor, sometimes also serving as a support for the electrode arranged inside the vessel, was passed through the central opening of this disk.
The seal was made, for example, by means of a rubber washer, which was placed between the bushing conductor and the inner surface of the washer. the lead-through opening as well as on the circumference of the disk between the disk and the vessel wall was clamped in a sealing manner. Such a design has been described in Swiss Patent No. 192681, for example.
The use of rubber has disadvantages, among other things because it often contains traces of sulfur. There are also complexities in the arrangement of the rubber washer in manufacturing.
The present invention aims to provide an electrolytic capacitor with a termination which eliminates the aforementioned disadvantages and which is simple, cheap and yet very reliable.
The invention is characterized in that the disk is made of insulating material in the form of a shell, the outside of the edge of the shell being metallized and metallically connected to the vessel, and that the disc is metallized around the feed-through opening and connected to the feed-through part.
The very simply designed sealing washer is easy and cheap to mass-produce. Due to the shell shape, the creepage distance between the metallized parts is large, and tests have shown that a leakage current is not to be feared in this way.
The disk can also be easily attached to the metal condenser vessel in a liquid and gas-tight manner. You can do this the edge between the two parts with a metallic mass with a low melting point, z. B. solder material, fill in.
In order to obtain an excellent seal between the disk and the electrode lead-through passed through its opening, the procedure is preferably such that a bushing is received in the lead-through opening of the disk, which has a flange that is metallic with the metallized surface of the disk (the bottom the shell) is connected, and that the leadthrough conductor is connected to the socket by a fusible link.
This design is particularly advantageous because the flat flange connected to a flat surface of the bowl-shaped disc provides a large supporting surface; In addition, it has been shown that a fastening arrangement according to this embodiment is particularly resistant to changes in temperature and the expansion and shrinkage of the materials of the disk and the bushing that occurs in the process.
Preferably, the connection between the socket and the leadthrough is made on the opposite side of the point where the connection between the socket and the washer is located.
This embodiment is particularly advantageous when a soldered connection is used, because the two soldering operations do not damage each other and, in this embodiment, the bushing forms a flexible intermediate part between the leadthrough conductor and the washer that can easily accommodate changes in shape due to temperature changes.
In the case of electrolytic capacitors, it must be ensured that there is no corrosion at the connection points between the capacitor electrodes and the wire conductors. occurs; this occurs when a film-forming metal, e.g. B. aluminum with another metal, e.g. B. copper and this connection is brought into the area of the electrolyte. Nevertheless, value is placed on the use of a 3-metal such as copper, because it allows a soldered connection to be made easily.
For the purpose of preventing the aforementioned disadvantage of corrosion, there is. the socket preferably consists of two coherent layers of different materials, one of which is easy to solder, while the other consists of the pale material like the capacitor electrode to be closed.
In the following, exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 shows a first game Ausführungsbei, in which the vessel is in section Darge provides.
Fig.? is a similar section of another embodiment.
By doing. made of aluminum with a valve \? has, the ge wound electrode structure 3 is housed. To fasten this structure in the vessel rubber rings 4 are available. The two connecting lugs of the electrodes made of aluminum are labeled 5 and 6. The negative connection is metallic, e.g. B. by spot welding, at A connected to the Ge vessel.
For Abdichtunb the ceramic, bowl-shaped disc 7 is present, which at the points indicated by a dashed line 8 and? is metallized. The sealing device of the disc with respect to the vessel is thereby obtained. that you fill the edge 10 with soldering material. At 15 the lower edge of the vessel is then flanged. In the disc 7, a socket 11 is arranged, which consists of two layers, that is, a copper layer and an aluminum layer.
The method of making such a layered metal is known in the art. The copper layer lies on the metallized surface 9 and is attached to it by soldering. The electrode tab 6 is connected by spot welding at B to the aluminum layer of the flange. Because it is a weld between aluminum and aluminum, there is no risk of the electrical contact being attacked by corrosion.
On the other hand, the copper layer of the flange is used for mechanical connection with the metal layer 9 of the disc 7 with the aid of soldering material. This connection is ideally protected from the electrolyte and corrosion is also less dangerous there because there is no current transfer at this point. The two layers of the socket thus fulfill a different task, using the fact that copper can be soldered excellently.
In the socket 11, the metal through guide 12 is received, which has a solder tongue 13. To seal the opening in which the leadthrough conductor 12 is located, a soldered connection is made at 14 on the outer edge of the socket. The socket 11 is thus used as an intermediate member in the connection between the lead-through conductor 12 and the disc 7, which are arranged independently of one another in a convenient location at the soldering points, and loss of space is avoided. The bowl-shaped cavity of the disk is filled with an insulating material, the softening point of which is below the melting point of the adjacent soldering material, so that additional protection is achieved for the connection points therein.
By means of the raised edges of the shell, a sufficient insulating length between the conductive parts with different potentials and thus a large creepage distance can be achieved.
This is promoted at the same time by the choice of the point at which the connections of the disc 7 with the shell 1 on the one hand and with the leadthrough conductor 12 on the other hand, and by the nature of these Ver connections.
With this structural arrangement, a solid, dense and compressed whole is obtained in the Ta; b, without endangering the excellent insulation.
In Fig. 2, corresponding parts of FIG. 1 with the same reference numerals are seen ver. The vessel 1 is designed as a cylindrical sleeve in this case. On one side, the closure consists of a metal disk 16 which carries a fastening pin 17 for the capacitor. By soldering at 18 this cover is connected to the shell 1 a related party. The vessel is closed on the other side by the bowl-shaped ceramic body 7.
In the case of the metallization 8, the shell has a re-entrant part, as a result of which a smooth whole is obtained after soldering to the shell 1.
In this embodiment, the seal between the cover and the implementation takes place completely outside of the vessel. In order to fix the lead-through bolt 12 to the cover 7, a socket 11 with a funnel-shaped end 19 is used, that is, a space between itself and the bolt BEZW. the surface 9 leaves free.
Such a connection part completely absorbs the forces occurring when the temperature changes and also has the advantage that the soldered connection can be made at once and checked for leaks without further ado, because the soldering compounds 14 and 20 are permanently visible.
If necessary, the wall 21 of the feedthrough opening can also be metallized so that a solder connection can be made between this wall and the bushing 11, which completely prevents any breakage between the cover and the feedthrough pin due to the forces exerted on the latter becomes. The connection of the electrode design parts 5 and 6 takes place as follows.
The strip or wire 5 made of copper is connected at 22 by spot welding to the capacitor electrode in question and is drawn further through an opening 23 in the sheath and soldered there. This solder joint also serves as a fuse for the capacitor. If this is overloaded, the temperature increases sharply and gas is generated.
As a result of the great heat, the solder plug melts and the gas can escape from the capacitor shell without the risk of an explosion.
The electrode strip 6 formed by cutting an electrode end is connected to the lead-through wire 25 by a rivet or by spot welding at 24. This wire is connected to the bolt 12 in a fluid-tight manner by the soldering compound 26. In order to prevent corrosion between the connections between two metals at 22 and 24, these areas are covered with a wax or compound mass 27 or. 28 enclosed. The latter is poured into the bowl-shaped cavity 29 of the lid, the height of which is increased by a wall 30.
