Process for the preparation of a new tetraeyelic ketone. It has been found that a new tetracyclic ketone can be obtained if d5-3.17 a-dioxy -17 a-methyl-D-homoandrostene is treated with oxidizing agents.
The starting material is accessible, for example, from cyclopentanopolyhydrophenanthrene compounds by ring expansion, by total synthesis and, if appropriate, subsequent D methods known per se for converting, introducing or eliminating substituents and / or 3′-multiple bonds.
The chemical, biochemical or electrochemical methods that are known for converting secondary alcohols into ketones and especially those that were also used in the steroid series can be used for oxidation.
Intermediate protection of the carbon double bond is advantageous in IT stands, for example when using oxidizing agents such as Cliroinsiire. The oxidation according to the invention can also be carried out by means of dehydrating agents
in particular ketones in (xegenw "irt of 3Tallalkoholaten or phenolaten, are carried out by.
The J4-3-keto-17a-oxy-17a-methyl-D-homo androsten obtained by the new process forms colorless crystals. It should find therapeutic use or serve as an intermediate for the preparation of therapeutically usable compounds.
