Description

Contact tube intended to be slipped on an aluminum wire, and method for its manufacture. The present invention includes a contact tube intended to be slid over an aluminum wire. This tube is characterized in that it has a spiral slit along its entire length, which makes it flexible and allows it to follow an aluminum wire of any shape and profile, while resting on the entire surface. net by forming an integral contact with it.

The invention further comprises a method for manufacturing said tube, characterized in that a tape is used. metal that is wound in a spiral on a mandrel.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the tube which the invention comprises, as well as an implementation of the method which also comprises the invention.

Fig. 1 shows, in, elevation, a fragment of an embodiment of the tube that -com takes the invention, mounted on a wire of circular section. Fig. 2 shows, on a smaller scale, said tube mounted on an aluminum wire.

Fig. 3 is a view similar to FIG. 2, the tube being shown in section.

Fig. 4 shows an aluminum wire provided with said tube and placed under a tightening screw. Fig. 5 shows an aluminum wire bent to be placed under a clamping screw and provided with said tube.

Fig. 6 shows in: cut the wire of fig. à and its contact tube placed under a tightening screw.

Fig. 7 shows a contact tube slipped on an aluminum wire of polygo nal section.

Fig. 8 illustrates an implementation of the method that comprises the invention and shows a tape during its winding on a polygonal mandrel, which can be, for example, constituted by the aluminum wire to receive said tube.

The tube shown in; fig. 1 is intended to be slipped on an aluminum wire, in order to improve the contact of this wire. This tube is made of a metal which does not form an electrical couple with the aluminum and does not attack the latter. It has a spiral slit 1 along its entire length. This slot has the advantage of making the tube perfectly flexible and allows it to match an aluminum wire of any shape and profile while resting on the entire surface of the wire and forming full contact with the latter.

Fig. 2 shows the tube mounted on an aluminum wire 2 of rectilinear shape and round section.

Fig. 3-is a view similar to fi--. 2, but in which the tube is shown in section.

Thanks to its flexibility, the tube can be slipped on a wire of any shape, for example on an aluminum wire in the form of a hook, as shown in FIG. 5, such a wire being intended to be clamped under a clamping screw, as shown in FIG. 6.

The flexibility of the tube makes it possible to slide it on an aluminum wire whose section is, for example, square or rectangular, instead of being round. Fig. 7 shows an embodiment of the tube slipped on such a wire.

Fig. 8 illustrates an embodiment of the process that the invention comprises, for the manufacture of the tube.

A metal tape is wound in a spiral on a mandrel 3 which may, for example, be constituted by the aluminum wire on which the tube is to be slid.

Preferably, a mandrel will be used with a diameter smaller than the diameter of the wire on which the tube will have to be slid. Also, thanks to its flexibility, the tube will perfectly match the wire and become one with it. In its preferred embodiments, the tube will be. very thin, so as not to significantly increase the section of the aluminum wire on which it will be slipped.

In a particular implementation of the method, the metal tape will be wound in contiguous turns so that there is no space between the turns.
