Generator with a 11 magnetic field tube for ultra-high frequencies. There are currently two main generators for generating the shortest, undamped electrical waves in the centimeter wave range: the magnetron and the various types of speed-controlled tubes. Triodes and other similar tubes are no longer possible because of the running time phenomena.
For the high frequencies in the centimeter wave range, the magnetron has the disadvantage that firstly it causes very large magnetic fields and secondly it requires very small electrode dimensions. The thermal loading capacity of such small structures is accordingly low, so that the production of larger services runs into difficulties. The types of production with good effects are unfortunately soon practically eliminated due to the high magnet weights required.
According to a known proposal, the magnetic field strength can be reduced in the case of a magnetic field arrangement in that the electrons have to pass through energy-removing slit fields several times during one revolution while circling; the normal magnetrons, on the other hand, only draw energy once during one cycle. Such an arrangement is described in French Patent No. 814152, for example.
According to the invention, this known principle is now to be implemented in a different way than before, namely because the energy-drawing electrode arrangement consists of a metallic cone shell facing the base plane of the cathode, which is cut along the generator and thus straight Number of segments is divided, which are alternately connected to the two poles of an oscillation circle, and that an electron beam is shot against the slot fields that form between the segments, the electrons of which move tangentially to the slot fields and in the axial direction of the cone shell .
The inventive arrangement a better utilization of the electron beam is achieved, since it runs through slit fields until the end.
An embodiment of the subject invention shows Fig. 1, which will be described in more detail in the follow. From a circular cathode h, an electron beam emerges through a control device 1 into the lens system 2 and 3, in which it is bundled electron-optically with the aid of the magnetic field B lying in the direction of flight. This bundle then enters the conical capacitor structure 4 and 5. The outer cone jacket 4 is provided with a higher positive voltage than the core cone 5.
The electrons which do not strike the cone 5 directly are deflected away from the axis by the electric field directed from 4 to 5 and, after leaving the deflection capacitor in plane A, form a ring-shaped electron beam. Due to the magnetic field B running in the axial direction, however, every component of movement running perpendicular to the axis is answered with a deflecting force perpendicular to the axis and direction of movement, which causes the electrons to move in a circular motion. In plane A, the electron cloud represents a circular ring in which the electrons rotate at a rotational speed corresponding to the magnetic field and also have a speed component in the axial direction.
This actually corresponds to a projection of the cathode plane over the lens structure 1 to 5 on the plane A, the lens structure distorting the electron cloud into a rotating ring. This rotating ring now moves into the actual generator structure, which consists of a metallic conical casing 6 which is cut open along the length of the generating unit. The resulting segments are now alternately connected to the two poles of the oscillation circuit .S '.
If the oscillation circuit has received a small alternating voltage from some external influence, slot fields us, v are formed between the segments. The electron ring entering from A now finds alternating accelerating and decelerating field strengths for its rotating electrons as it enters this cone, and the electrons are already separated into incorrect-phase and correct-phase. The electrons that are accelerated describe a flatter path and, when moving forward, towards the cone, soon hit the segments before they could still draw much energy.
The electrons that are slowed down lose speed and then describe smaller circular radii and cannot hit the segments. Since the angular speed is independent of the absolute speed of the electron, an electron that has been decelerated must always encounter a decelerating field as it continues to run into the cone and thus be decelerated again and again until it hits the small circle at a very low rotational speed End plate 8 strikes. The right-phase electrons move on a spiral path that hugs the cone of the electrodes.
If we use p to denote the number of poles, i.e. half the number of segments, then we get that for the required magnetic field
EMI0002.0026
times the magnetic field of a magnetron for the same wavelength, which works in first-order vibrations. That means, for example, that for an @ wavelength 2? = 5 cm and p - 8 a field strength of B = 250 Gauss is required, compared to a magnetic field of around? 000 Gauss for a magnetron of the first order.
By pulling the electron orbit apart, we also get significantly larger anode radii. With an anode voltage of 3600 volts, the previous example has a diameter of the entry surface of the anode cone of d = 16 mm. So you get lower magnetic fields and larger mechanical structures with good degrees of efficiency. The Sch @vingungshreis adjoining the segments should of course have a low-radiation and loss-free design, for example in the form of a pot circle.
Fig. 2 shows a wheel-shaped design of the conical shell, slotted in the axial direction and serving as an oscillating body, the individual spokes of this wheel in
EMI0003.0004
swing and the center of the wheel is conically drilled. The height of the cone must be less than
EMI0003.0005
to ensure an even distribution of potential along the segments. The in-phase swing segments can, if necessary, be connected on the back by rings or plates mitein other, whereby a correct phase work of the individual segments can be forced. The individual segments alternately have positive and negative potential; the current course is indicated by arrows.
As in the example according to FIG. 1, the part of the electron beam that is exposed to the decelerating slot fields moves in a spiral into the cone body, giving off its energy in stages. The part of the beam that is accelerated hits the segments before it has consumed a lot of energy.
