Description

Lateral luggage rack for cycles. The present invention relates to a side luggage rack for cycles for transporting bulky and heavy objects.

The accompanying drawing shows an example of a practical embodiment of the invention.

Fig. 1 is an elevational view of the luggage carrier, one tray of which is raised and the other lowered.

Fig. 2 is a side view of the luggage carrier arranged as in the preceding figure, with the second plate also 1 shown in dotted lines in the raised position.

Fig. 3 is a plan view showing the two folded plates.

Fig. 4 shows in perspective the luggage carrier mounted on a bicycle, with its two trays folded back in order of use.

The luggage carrier is formed by two trays 1, 2, respectively formed by a flat metal frame, or other profile, suitably braced. Each plate is articulated by the ends of its frame on the two uprights 3, 4 of a support in the form of a pack, placed astride the mudguard 5 of the rear wheel 6 of the cycle.

A fitting 7 connects to the upper rear fork of the bicycle the upper part of the upright 3, which is fixed at the bottom by each of its ends 11, on the lower rear fork in front of the axis of the wheel. The support is braced, on either side of the wheel, by two rods 8, 9 arranged in a triangle and connecting the top of the rear upright 4 to the upper and lower ends of the other upright 3.

The rod 8 comprises, with respect to the mon tant â, a projection 10 engaging in a hole made in the frame of the corresponding plate, when the latter is raised.

Quick and easy to install, this luggage rack is adaptable to all bicycles. The luggage carrier can withstand very heavy loads without hindering the cyclist in his movements. Folded, it can still constitute a small luggage rack by the raised ends of the two trays 1, 2, as shown in fig. 1 and 2.
