Gaserzeuger.
Gas generator. The invention relates to a gas generator with a cooling jacket, through the cooling space of which a gaseous coolant, such as air, steam-air mixture or air with atomized, atomized water flows.
It is known to provide gas generators with cooling jackets and to use water as the coolant, which is either used in the form of hot water for cooling or is converted into vapor form in the cooling jacket itself. These cooling jackets, which work with water as the coolant, remove considerable amounts of heat from the gas generator, which adversely affects the gas composition.
Especially in the case of smaller gas generators, the amounts of heat withdrawn in this way are so large, due to the unfavorable relationship between the shaft cross-section and the cooling jacket surface, that the steam generated in the cooling jacket is there is no use for the hot water produced. As a result, large amounts of heat are wasted uselessly.
In the gas generator according to the invention, a gaseous medium is therefore used as the coolant. It is important here to achieve good heat transfer between the gaseous coolant and the inner wall of the coolant. The invention, which makes this possible, consists in the fact that the cooling jacket space through which the coolant flows alternately has narrowed and widened flow cross-sections so that the flow rate of the coolant is successively increased and reduced with the formation of eddies.
For this purpose, baffles can be arranged in the ring-shaped flow-through space, which alternately narrow and widen the flow-through cross-section, so that it is increased in zones. Speed in the extended rooms follow zones in which a lively vortex formation occurs. The increased speed and swirling movement of the heat transfer is increased sufficiently.
This improved heat transfer is essential to ensure the durability of the inner jacket wall. If only two smooth cylindrical walls were to be placed concentrically on top of one another, so that an annular cavity through which the coolant would flow would be formed between them, the heat dissipation of the inner jacket wall would not be sufficient as a result of the too little heat transfer, so that the material of the inner jacket turn would suffer from this.
The baffles built into the flow space of the cooling jacket can for example consist of flat iron rings, ribs or the like. According to a preferred embodiment, the outer wall or the inner wall of the cooling jacket is provided with beads which protrude into the annular flow space so that the gaseous coolant passes through the cross-sectional constrictions formed thereby at increased speed. If necessary, both the outer wall and the inner wall can be provided with such beads.
After leaving the cooling jacket, the coolant is expediently introduced into the gasification chamber of the gas generator through a line. This has the advantage that the heat withdrawn from the inner wall of the cooling jacket is made fully usable again by the coolant for the gas generator. Nevertheless, the cooling of the inner wall should be so strong. ensure that slag build-up inside the shaft is avoided. The inner wall is expediently made of a scale-resistant il1material in order to increase its durability.
Air to which steam is added can be used as the coolant. The gas he produced, which in itself is already improved by the reduced heat dissipation, is further improved by the addition of steam. This gas improvement has a particularly beneficial effect on small gas generators such as those used in vehicles.
The additional introduction of water vapor into the gasification air from Gaserzeu like is known. The steam is mostly taken from special steam generators, which are preferably formed by a steam jacket surrounding the gas generator. This mode of operation is not applicable in the case of strong fluctuations in the operation, as occurs in particular in vehicle gas generators, because delays occur between the load on the gas generator and the steam generation when load changes occur that disrupt operation.
If the load increases, then too little steam is available, while if the load decreases, there is an excess of steam. One is therefore, in order to always have enough steam available for increased loads, necessarily forced to keep the steam generation excessively large, which results in a constant loss of steam.
The high water consumption caused by this makes operation difficult, especially in the case of vehicle gas generators, in a very unpleasant way due to larger amounts of water to be carried, more frequent refueling and unnecessary soiling of the steam generating device.
To simplify and improve operations, is; Advantageously, a water-fed atomizer or spray nozzle is installed in the air line leading to the gas generator, preferably directly into the inlet connection of the cooling jacket, through which the air flow, similar to the known spray carburetors of internal combustion engines, carries with it as much water like for the most economical saturation of the air. is required.
The carried away. Water that is atomized and atomized in the air stream is then evaporated in an Erbitzumgseinriehtung, preferably in the cooling jacket of the Gaserzeu gers itself, and the steam formed flows together with the gasification air, possibly in an overheated state, into the gas generator. In this way it is achieved that the amount of water supplied and thus the amount of steam is constantly adapted to the load on the gas generator, since the amount of water entrained from the water nozzle depends on the amount and speed of the gasification air flowing around the nozzle.
An air nozzle is expediently switched into the air line, at the narrowest point of which the water nozzle opens. The water nozzle or the air nozzle or both nozzles are advantageously adjustable with respect to their opening. By setting the water nozzle or air nozzle opening or both, it is possible to select the mixing ratio of air to water vapor so that it is the most favorable for the respective slag ratios of the fuels.
The feed line of the water nozzle is expediently connected to a float vessel in which a float connected to a valve regulates the water level in the water nozzle. This float device can also be designed in the manner of the known float carburetors of internal combustion engines. The water level in the water nozzle is to be adjusted by the float so that it is a little, for example a few millimeters, below the water outlet opening in the rest position. This ensures that the amount of water at the nozzle is metered according to consumption and that no water is lost when the machine comes to a standstill.
The water nozzle can be designed and arranged in various ways. According to a particularly advantageous embodiment, the water nozzle is designed as an annular nozzle, it being ensured that part of the air flow passes through the center of the nozzle, while the main air flow passes along the outside of the nozzle. With the help of such an annular nozzle, particularly good water atomization is achieved. The central air stream can expediently be guided through a hollow nozzle needle, which is provided with air inlet openings in its rear part protruding from the nozzle body.
The air flow itself can be sucked or pushed through the nozzle. If necessary, a compensation line is provided to compensate for the air pressure, through which the air space above the water level in the float vessel is connected to the air line, preferably to the narrowest point of the air nozzle.
In the drawing, the subject of the invention is illustrated, for example, namely: Fig. 1 schematically shows a section through a gas generator with a cooling jacket and a device for introducing ver misted water, while Fig. 2 on a larger scale schematically in longitudinal section the device for what atomization shows.
In the case of the gas generator illustrated in the drawing, the shaft in which the gasification of the fuel takes place is formed by an inner wall 1. In the interior 2, the air required for gasification is BEZW at the lower end by a mushroom 3. introduced the air-steam mixture. The fuel is introduced into the upper end of the gasification chamber 2 through a filling head 4 in the usual manner. The gas generated is drawn off through an outlet nozzle 5.
The outer wall 6 of the cooling jacket is pushed axially over the inner jacket wall 1. Between the outer wall 6 and the inner wall 1 a ring-shaped flow-through space 7 is formed, into which the gaseous coolant flows through an inlet connection 8.
The inlet nozzle 8 is preferably formed directly from the funnel-shaped widening of the air nozzle 14, into which the water is injected to saturate the air. The details of this device are described in more detail below. At the opposite end, preferably below the end of the cooling jacket, there is an outlet connection 9 through which the coolant flows out of the cooling jacket.
The outer cooling jacket wall 6 is now seen with constrictions or beads 111 which protrude into the inner flow space 7. Through these beads 10 a very strong constriction of the flow space 7 is brought about between the inner wall 1 and the inner bead edge. When flowing through these constricted points of the Durchströmungsra.umes 7, the speed of the traversed medium is increased considerably.
In the zones 11, which follow the narrowed points in the beads 10, the cross section of the flow space 7 expands again considerably, so that a lively vortex formation occurs in these expanded zones, which in turn improves the heat transfer. The number of narrowed points in the flow space of the cooling jacket can be arbitrary and depends on the respective conditions and on the size of the gas generator.
The air resp. the steam-air mixture, which flows through the alternately narrowed and expanded cross-sections between the cooling jacket walls 1 and 6, heats up in the interior of the cooling jacket and passes through the outlet nozzle 9 into a line 12 through which the overheated medium enters the mushroom 3 and through the latter into the gassing room \? is introduced.
The additional introduction of atomized tem or nebulized @@ '' water in the Ver gasification air is advantageously carried out with the help of a device that is described in I'ig. '? is shown in more detail. This device has an air line 13 to which an air nozzle 14 is closed. The air nozzle 14 has a narrowest point 15, which then merges into the funnel-shaped nozzle 8, which is in I'ig. is indicated in dashed lines.
In the air nozzle 14 designed as an atomizer or spray nozzle water nozzle 16 is built, which expediently coaclisial to the air nozzle 14 and opens at the narrowest point 15 of the air nozzle. Inside the water nozzle 16 a hollow, axially displaceable nozzle needle 17 is arranged, which is offset with one or more air inlet openings 18 on its rear part protruding from your nozzle body.
The axial displacement of the hollow nozzle needle 17 can take place in a simple manner by means of a threaded pin 19 which carries the nozzle needle 17 and which can be screwed into a female thread 2 @ 1 provided in the wall of the air nozzle 14. The rotation of the Ge threaded pin 19 can be effected by means of an adjusting disk 21. while a lock nut 22 is provided for I'eststelhing.
The front end of the nozzle needle 17 is located in the outlet opening of the water nozzle 16, so that an annular outlet opening 23 is formed for the water, which is located in the cavity 24 between your nozzle body and the nozzle needle 17. The cavity 24 is fed through a feed line 5 with water.
The feed line? 5 is to an outside of the air line respectively. Air nozzle arranged float vessel 26 connected, in wel chem a float 27 is located.
The float 27 is connected to a cone valve 28, which BEZW when sinking. When the float rises, a through opening 31, which is provided in the bottom 29 of the float vessel 26 and connected to a water supply line 30, opens or closes.
The air duct 32 in the float vessel 26 above the water level is connected to the narrowest point 15 of the air nozzle by a 1) flushing line 33.
When the gas generator is in operation, the gasification air flows in the direction of the arrows drawn through the air line 13 and the subsequent air nozzle 14 into the interior 7 of the cooling jacket. Here, the air stream sweeps on the one hand from the outside iun the water nozzle 16 and on the other hand through the openings 18 and the hollow nozzle needle 17 centrally through the water nozzle. The air flowing simultaneously outside and inside through the water nozzle is sucked out at the annular outlet opening 23. the space 24 of the water nozzle 16 water and atomizes it in the air stream.
By adjusting the nozzle needle 17, the outlet opening 23 can be regulated. Adjustment of the passage opening of the air nozzle can also be provided; the. but in. The drawing is not shown in detail.
Through the float 27 and the bottom valve 28 of the float vessel 26, the water level in the water nozzle 16 is kept at a certain height. In the rest position, the water level is a little below the water outlet opening 23 of the nozzle, so that when the gas generator is at a standstill, no water can escape from the water nozzle into the air line. If, on the other hand, the air flow begins more or less forcefully in accordance with the load on the gas generator, water is carried away from the water nozzle 16, whereupon the water level in the float vessel 26 drops.
Correspondingly, the float 27 lowers and the valve 28 opens the through opening 31 in the float vessel bottom 29, so that fresh water can flow through the line 30 according to the consumption.
The water atomized and misted in the air space is evaporated in the interior 7 of the cooling jacket of the gas generator according to the embodiment shown in FIG. Subsequently, the steam can also possibly overheat.
The device for injecting water into the gasification air can, if necessary, also be built into the air supply line in a different way and at a different point. If necessary, the evaporation of the water can also take place immediately in the correspondingly heated air stream in the air nozzle. For this purpose, the atomizer device is fed with heated air, it being possible for it to be installed, for example, in the line 12 or in another line leading into the gasification chamber of the gas generator.
