Gas generator for fine-grained Itolile, #, especially charcoal. The reaction in the production of carbon oxide m a gas generator happens on the surface of the individual carbon particles. The finer the grain of the coal, the faster and more complete the reaction proceeds. With the previously known gas generators, however, it is difficult to suck in the necessary amount of air through the mass of coal, which offers great resistance, when the grain size is fine. This difficulty is the main reason for the fact that no gas generator has yet been built for fine-grained coal, such as coal meal or coal dust.
In the case of the gas generator for fine-grain coal, in particular charcoal, according to the inven tion, this difficulty should be avoided in that at least one nozzle for the inlet of air into a reaction space and a collecting space for the fine-grain coal are arranged in such a way that .the bottom The coal flowing out of the collecting space forms an embankment, the lower end of which lies above the nozzle, in order to blow the constantly flowing coal through the air stream into the reaction space.
In the accompanying drawing, three exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown schematically, namely, FIGS. 1 to 3 each show a vertical section through a gas generator.
When the gas generator of Fig. 1 is provided with annular nozzles 2 for the air inlet bottom piece 1, a cylindrical, open bottom pipe 3 angeord net, which as a collecting space 4 for the fine-grained coal, z. B. charcoal is used. The coal flowing out of the pipe 3 at the bottom forms a truncated cone-shaped slope above the bottom piece 1, the lower end of which lies above the nozzles 2.
The tube 3 is concentrically surrounded by the reaction space 5, which is delimited by a wall 6 and to which an outlet nozzle 7 is connected for the gas to exit.
Due to the suction of the motor, air is sucked through the nozzles 2 into the reaction space 5. The air flow takes the coal particles above the nozzle with it and blows them into the reaction space, in which the coal is whirled up and burns to carbon oxide. The gas he generated exits through the nozzle 7, while the unburned, heavier coal particles fall back to the ground.
In the gas generator according to FIG. 2, the collecting space 8 for the coal is formed between an outer housing wall 9 arranged on the base piece 1 and an inner wall 10, so that the collecting space 8 here surrounds the reaction space 11 located within the wall 10. The embankment of the coal flowing out of the collecting space 8 extends here under the reaction space 11 to above the nozzles 2. The air flow entering through the nozzles 2 blows the coal into the reaction space 11, in which it is whirled up and burns to carbon oxide. The gas produced exits through the nozzle 12, while the not burned th, heavier coal particles fall on the slope and are whirled up again by the air stream.
The gas generator according to FIG. 3 has a gas discharge pipe 13 in the middle, which passes through the base piece 14. Around the lower end of the tube 13, an annular space 15 is formed through which the air is guided to the annular nozzles 16. Similar to the example of FIG. 2 is between an outer, on the bottom piece 14 be strengthened stranding 17 and an inner wall 18 of the collecting space 19 is formed. The reaction space 20 is located between the wall 18 and the gas discharge pipe 13.
At the upper end of the tube 13, a screw surface 21 is formed which extends into the reaction space 20 and causes the gases in the space 20 to rotate. Since the unburned coal particles are separated by centrifugal action from the gas he generated and fall along the wall 18 onto the slope of the coal flowing out of the collecting space. The hot gases withdrawn through the pipe 13 transfer their heat to the fresh air entering the annular space 15, whereby the air is preheated using the heat of the gases.
The gas generators described can be ignited by applying glowing coal to the nozzle openings. However, in the area of the nozzles, e.g. B. at 22 in Fi, g. 3, an electrical ignition wire installed, which can be made to glow by battery power, which enables the generator to be started up quickly.
The gas generators described have the following advantages: They enable the use of fine-grained coal. possibly dust from coal. This results in low operating costs and a low volume of the operating material.
The mass of the carbon that reacts at the same time is very small, which results in a high reaction speed and rapid adaptation to changes in load.
The coal storage room is separated from the reaction room so that no carbonization gases are obtained.
The surface of the coal that reacts at the same time is enlarged, which means that the generator requires less space.
