'#'' i = cim .
Diagonal fan. The invention relates to a diagonal fan which is intended in particular for generating high pressures. The invention is based on the knowledge that at the lowest relative speed and the lowest possible detachment losses of the pressure medium, for example air, the lowest losses can be expected in the impeller.
The He-making indicates the structural features of an impeller, in which the lowest relative speeds and the lowest loss from the air in the impeller are achieved.
When designing an impeller, assumptions have been made so far to determine the inlet diameter, the inlet width and the blade angle, which must be described as quite arbitrary. For example, it is very common to assume a certain speed range for the meridian entry speed. Based on the usual calculation methods for centrifugal pumps, a value of 6-15 m per second is often given for the inlet speed.
In the apparent sense of this arbitrariness, various other sides attempted to determine the entry speed in connection with the peripheral speed or to bring the overpressure.
It was also tried to .this situation by empirically resp. to balance statistically justified figures. However, Sassen did not recognize any of the known guidelines that were physically obvious. There are now various references to the advantage of low relative speeds in the literature. However, a solution to this task has not yet been followed.
Nowhere is there any information about what an impeller actually looks like, in which the relative speed has a minimum and furthermore the detachment losses are as small as possible.
To solve this problem, the invention is based on the knowledge that the impeller losses can be divided into three groups, all of which are proportional to the square of the relative entry speed. So it must first be a minimum of this relative entry speed, so that these losses are as small as possible. If one wants to improve the blower even further, one investigates which of the three sources of loss given is the most disadvantageous. What is meant are: 1. shock losses, 2. frictional losses, 3. separation losses.
The flow direction in front of the blades corresponds to the blade angle for the delivery rate of the best degree of efficiency. With this so-called "shock-free entry", the shock losses are practically zero. The pure frictional losses caused by surface friction can nowadays be calculated to a certain extent, and the order of magnitude can be reliably estimated. These losses are also still relatively small; it can be For example, prove that a fan with pure surface friction must have an efficiency of 30-85 11vo.
This leaves only the detachment losses that make up the 0- largest portion. The detachments in the blade channels now arise as a result as well as in dormant channels. that the flow is delayed. Here, too, detachment can be avoided within moderate limits, but even then there is a considerable increase in losses compared with pure surface friction. The detachment losses are avoided at all if no delay is allowed.
Strong acceleration would be best, but this again has a disadvantage. because then the speeds in the downstream diffuser become too great. The most appropriate solution was found in the execution of an impeller with a diagonal flow direction, an impeller with a diameter to be taken in the direction of flow and a cross-section decreasing in the meridian.
To explain the invention, the following symbols are used after the general exercise in this field of technology.

The lines AB-CD in the lower half of the figure show the position of the head edge and the foot edge of a fan blade placed on a plane on the right including the plane of the paper.
In FIG. 2, the P-Y curve, an efficiency curve and a power requirement curve of the fan are shown. As extensive tests have shown, the maximum power requirement N coincides approximately with the maximum efficiency. As a result, the Hotor does not need to be oversized, but can be laid out according to the useful power of the fan.
In Fig. 3, another impeller is provided, in which the radial projection of the blades can be seen. In addition, the drawn streamlines show which cross-sections must be used to calculate the passage speeds.
The shape of the shovel on the outer circumference can be seen from Fig. 4, which means a development from the outer cone shell. In this development, the angles, B, and ss2 appear undistorted.
In Fig. 5, the speed triangles for points 1 and 2 of FIG. 3 on the outer circumference of the impeller are illustrated.
6 illustrates the case in which the inlet and outlet edges of the blades form the same angle with the surfaces F, and FZ.
The new knowledge was obtained from the following relationships. From the entry velocity diagram for the entry outside diameter (Fig. 5) we get + 2Gi @ 1. @ If we replace:
EMI0003.0024
this is how:
EMI0003.0025
ua, respectively. zvi is thus a function of V, d, and n. Since the volume Y and the speed are usually given in the design, you can only change d,. For a certain d i there is a minimum of ie ;, after differentiation according to d ,, of the size
EMI0003.0035
The exit diameter always plays a major role in the design.
It is therefore advisable to make the last equation dimensionless by using Di = vision with dz. This gives:
EMI0003.0043
If the best value of di is also inserted into equation (2) for cl and, according to FIG. 5, the pitch of the inlet blade angle is formed
EMI0003.0051
so. arises after a simple calculation:
EMI0003.0053
With the optimal condition, it therefore results in a constant inlet blade angle of approximately 350
In the case of a greater inclination of the outer fan wall, the same calculation yields the relationship (5):
EMI0003.0058
Equation (4) is contained in equation l (5). In this equation is the expression
EMI0003.0060
where F, means the free passage cross-section at the inlet.
The design feature of the minimum condition for the relative speed is that a diagonal runner has an entry angle of 35.
The prevention of detachment in the channels is achieved by the following considerations: The prerequisite for detachment losses is the occurrence of a delay. If it is assumed that there is no delay on the outside, that is to say ev = w2 according to FIG. 5, then the question remains as to which changes in speed the current filaments nearer the hub suffer.
On the one hand, an even inlet and outlet must be required for a blower (continuity equation), but this means Cl. '#' 'i = cim. F, = czm - F "; furthermore, every stream filament must experience the same increase in pressure or energy. However, according to known relationships, this is only possible if u2 . c2 "- is constant.
Here, C2 "is the projection of the exit velocity rz onto the circumferential direction. In the event that the external velocities remain the same, i.e. w1 = w2, the stream filaments closer to the hub are accelerated.
The condition w1 - w2 is completely sufficient to avoid detachment under all circumstances. The calculation is as follows in Fig. 5: CIM = vrl - Bin Q31 Clm = aas - sin p2 with w1 - w2 one obtains:
EMI0004.0033
The continuity equation also gives:
EMI0004.0034
By equating the left sides of the equations, one then obtains
EMI0004.0036
A diagonal fan according to the invention is structurally characterized by: 1. inlet blade angle of about 35, whereby the minimum relative speed is achieved,
EMI0004.0041
EMI0004.0042
whereby detachment losses are avoided.
From a physical point of view, the calculations also apply if the outside diameter of the inlet is the same as or even greater than the outside diameter of the outlet. Even a slight reduction in the inlet outer diameter compared to the outlet outer diameter allows significantly higher pressures to be achieved. The generation of higher pressures takes place primarily in blowers of diagonal design.
The diagonal impellers according to the invention achieve particularly high levels of efficiency and pressure increases. Another advantage is the cheap production of the sheet metal shop.
