Skikante.
Ski edge. Ski edges made of metal have different advantages over those made of other materials, such as celluloid, for example great resistance to wear and tear or insensitivity to heat (celluloid is known to be easily inflammable). However, difficulties exist with such metallic ski edges with regard to the binding with the ski wood. If screws or pins are used for this,
When the edge is subdivided into a number of pieces, there is a certain stiffness of the ski and a lot of work on the screw resp. Pinning points on tension and impact, and the attachment of the edge is cumbersome and requires precise, essential manual work causing assembly. Gluing such ski edges to the ski is unsatisfactory because of the low binding force of adhesives on Me tall and only has a short lifespan.
The present invention now aims to create a ski edge using metal which has the advantages of such edges without having their disadvantages. According to the invention, in the case of the ski edge formed from a plurality of abutting ski edge pieces, a metallic profile piece and a part made of thermoplastic compound are combined to form a ski edge piece with the two parts interlocking
where a gante of the profile piece is intended to form the gante of the ski that is exposed to wear, while the part made of thermoplastic material should allow a good adhesive bond between the ski edge and the ski wood and the ski edge pieces with one another.
The part made of thermoplastic mass can fill recesses which are arranged alternately in mutually transverse flanges of the metallic profile piece, and these fillings can be combined into a whole by a reinforcement of a flange cal of the metallic profile piece forming part of the part made of thermoplastic mass .
The accompanying drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, namely in Fig. 1 in a perspective view partly in section with dash-dotted parts of the ski, in Fig. 2 in section along the line .1-: 3 and Fig. 3 in section along the line BB of Figure 1; 4 shows a ski seen from below in a longitudinal diagram.
According to FIG. 1, 1 is a niet.illisclies profile piece which, at 2, represents the wear edge of a ski, the wood of which is denoted by 11. The lower surface of the profile piece 1. is set back within the exposed edge part and forms a flange 3 of the profile piece. A second flange 4 lies transversely to this flange 3.
The flange 3 had recesses 5 and the 4 recesses 6 which are arranged alternately so that a full part of the other flange lies opposite a recess in one flange. The grooves 5 and 6 are closed on the outer edges of the flanges in this embodiment; but they can also be open here.
The flange 4 is reinforced by a flange 7 made of thermoplastic D-cup, which can consist of a cellulose acetate. With this flange 7, parts 8, 9 of thermoplastic 3lasse, which fill the recesses 5 and 6, as well as a part 10, also from this 3lasse, which fills the recess formed by the setback on the partial surface of the profile piece 1, a whole.
By interlocking these plastic parts 8-10 with the metallic pieces 1-3 a ski edge piece is formed and the large surface areas of the thermoplastic material part are suitable for a good adhesive bond of the ski edge piece with the wood of the ski 11.
A plurality of such ski edge pieces are to be attached to one another on the ski tip 11 in such a way that the edges 2 of the pieces form the edge of the ski which is exposed to wear. The rib formed by the flanges 4, 7 lies in a groove in the ski wood, and the surface of the part 10 made of thermoplastic material is flush with the running surface 12 of the ski.
The part made of thermoplastic material forms large areas of contact with the wood of the ski on different sides, for example in the surfaces of the fillings in the recesses 5 and 6, in the surface of the flange 7, and in the inner face 8 'of the part 8 and, since this mass forms a very good bond with adhesives for wood,
a secure hold of the edge pieces of ski wood is achieved by gluing alone. Because the edge pieces of the ski lie against one another on the end faces of the rib-shaped flange combination 4, 7 with large surfaces of the part made of thermoplastic material, a good connection between the pieces is achieved at the material locations.
The recesses in the flanges 4 adjoining the abutment points are open towards the abutment point liin (FIG. 1), so that the abutting end faces of this flange are largely formed from the thermoplastic 3'1asse.
The adhesive connection, as can be achieved according to the invention, ensures easy installation of the ski edge in the ski and it also affects the elasticity of the ski in no way, since screws bezw. Pins are avoided.
