Le courant résultant dans l'induit 28 pourra donc varier en direction et en va leur. Il en sera de même pour le courant dans IPinduit: 24, branché en série avec l'in duit 28. Puisque, d'autre;

courant continu.
Installation of electric arc welding. The present invention relates to an installation for electric arc welding.
In one embodiment of the object of the invention, a rectifier device is connected to an alternating current soldering circuit to obtain a direct current potential proportional to the voltage between a fusible electrode and the part on which the solder is to be welded. to be executed, which potential is then applied to an adjustment circuit for adjusting the excitation of a DC electrode advancing motor so as to advance the electrode suitably to maintain it in a predetermined relationship with respect to to the workpiece.
The electric welding installation according to the invention comprises an alternating current welding circuit comprising the fusible electrode and the part on which the welding is to be carried out, in combination with a reversible direct current advancement motor. arranged to actuate said electrode, so as to move it forward or backward with respect to the piece to be welded, and adjustment means comprising a unidirectional current device for adjusting the value and direction of the current flowing in the winding armature of the electrode advance motor depending on a determined arc characteristic.
Many. embodiments of the object of the invention are shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 shows an electrical coupling die diagram of a first embodiment of the electric arc welding installation according to the invention.
Fig. 2 shows the diagram of a second, and FIG. 3 the diagram of a third embodiment.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 of the drawing, 10 denotes a transformer with, a primary winding 12, connected to an alternating current source 13, and a secondary winding 14 which is connected by means of a variable reactance device 16 making it possible to regulate the flow of the transformer, and a switch 17 to a soldering circuit comprising.
a fusible electrode 18, the part 20 on which the hard welding is to be performed, and a guide 22 for the electrode 18 and providing a sufficient contact surface for the transmission of the welding current to this electrode.
To advance the fusible electrode 18 relative to the part 20, a DC advancing motor 24 is connected to the advancing rollers 2'6 arranged so as to. engage with electrode 18 in a well-known manner. The advancement motor 24 is supplied from a regulating generator 28 actuated by a motor 30; by adjusting the flow rate of generator 28, the desired measurement of the advancement of electrode 18 is obtained.
The field winding 32 of the advance motor 24 is connected to an excitation source formed by an adjustment generator 34, in series with adjustment rheos 35, 36 and 3'7, so as to obtain a substantially constant field, while the armature of the advancing motor 24 is in series with the armature of the regulating generator 28 and in shunt on the regulating rheostat 37..
A change-over switch 38 is provided to allow the connections between the armature of the feed motor 24 and the armature of the regulating generator 28 to be reversed when desired. The feed motor armature excitation circuit 24 runs from the feed motor brush 39, through conductor 40, the normally open contact pad 42a of an adjustment relay 42 which adjusts power. feed motor armature, reversing switch 38, brush 45 of the regulating generator 2'8, armature 46, brush 47, conductor 48, regulating rheostat 37, driver 49,
the conductor 50, the change-over switch 38 and the conductor 51 to the armature brush 52 of the feed motor 24. In this way, the armature of the feed motor 24 is connected to the armature of the adjustment generator 2'8,
so as to be powered by it and at the same time it is connected to the constant potential source 34 through the regulating rheostat 37 so that when the flow rate of the regulating generator 28 is reduced to zero, a current d excitation is supplied to the armature of the advancing motor 24 as a result of the potential drop across the rheos tat 37,
in order to effect the control of the feed motor 24 to remove the electrode 18 from the workpiece 20 The circuit of the field winding 54 extends from one terminal of the rectifier circuit 56, by the conductors 66, 67 and 68; the field winding 32, the conductor 69, the adjustment rheostat 35, the conductor 55 of the field winding 54 of the adjustment generator and the contact pad 64a of the relay 64 at the opposite terminal of the rectifier circuit 56 .
The rectifier circuit 56 comprises rectifier elements with copper oxide or the like, the alternating current terminals of which are connected to the branch by the conductors 57 and 58 respectively connected to the electrode 18 and to the workpiece 20. .
The circuit comprising the rectifiers 56, the field winding 54 and the adjustment rheostat 3.5; on the one hand, and the circuit comprising the two armatures 24 and 28 are associated with each other, such that the current component. in @ armature 28 due to the first circuit-. is opposite to the current component due to the second circuit in said armature.
The resulting current in the armature 28 may therefore vary in direction and in direction. It will be the same for the current in IPinduced: 24, connected in series with the induction 28. Since, else;
On the other hand, the direction of excitation of the winding 339 remains invariable, the direction of rotation and the speed of rotation of the rotor 2'4 may therefore change depending on the conditions in the two said circuits and, consequently, in dependence on the fluctuations of the voltage existing between the electrode, e 18 and the part 20. As stated above, the motor 24 transmits the movement of its rotor to the electrode 22.
In order to enable the operator to switch on the welding installation, there is a push-button device 59 allowing the control of the energization of the control coil 60 of the adjustment relay 42. The adjustment relay 42, can then close an excitation circuit through a contact bridge 42b for the control coil 6,2 of the switch relay 64 which serves to control the operation of the line switch 17 and the excitation of the field winding 54 of the regulating generator.
When the output voltage of the solder transformer 10 is applied to the AC terminals of the rectifier circuit 56 by the line switch 17, a corresponding DC voltage is applied to the field winding 54 of the generator. setting miss 28.
An exciting current then passes for years. the field winding 54 and the regulating generator 2'8 can then generate a potential sufficient to increase the voltage of the regulating rheostat 37, and determine k direction of the current in the series circuit of the armature of the motor d advance ment and armature of the regulation generator. The advancement motor 24 will then have to advance the electrode 18 towards the part 20.
Since the resistance of the rectifier circuit 56 is extremely high in the reverse direction, the field winding 54 will only be energized when the potential of the rectifier circuit 56 exceeds the potential of the winding. field 32 and the portion of the adjustment rheostat 35 placed in the above-described bridge circuit connection of the field winding 54.
When electrode 1 & engages workpiece 20, the AC voltage between the two reduces to zero, so that the corresponding DC voltage applied to field winding 54 of the tuning generator 28 will likewise reduce and the current passing through winding 54 will become negligible.
The control voltage of the adjustment rheostat 37 -will then determine the direction of the current in the armature circuit of the feed motor 24, causing the reversal of the direction of the feed motor in such a way to separate the elec trode 18 from the part 20 and to draw an electric are. The arcing voltage of the native alternating current between the electrode and the workpiece is thus increased, and similarly also the voltage of direct current applied to the field winding 54 of the regulating generator 28.
By means of the adjustment rheostat 35 and the adjustment rheostat 37, the potentials applied to the rolling field of the field 54 and to the input circuit of the advancing motor can be made at will. Installation described can thus be called to maintain an arc of alternating current between the electrode 18 and the part 20 of any suitable predetermined nature.
The operation of the installation described is as follows: After lia. closing of the normally open contact pad 59a of the push-button device 59, the control relay 42 is actuated by the excitation of its control coil 60 due to the circuit going from the generator 34, by the conductor 70, the mo bile contact 59a, 11th, conductor 71, the coil, control 60,
the conductor 72 and the conductor 73 returning to the generator 3'4. The control coil 62 of the switch relay 64 will then be connected to the source 34 pax la, closing of the movable contact 42b, and at the same time the motor winding, advancement 24 will be connected in series with the armature of the generator. 2.8 as a result of the closure of mobile contact 42a.
As a result of the operation of the switch relay 64, the rectifier circuit 56 is connected to the bypass field winding 54 of the regulating generator, through the movable contact 64a, and at the same time the movable contact 64b. connects control coil 65 of line switch 17 to current source 34.
As a result of the closing of the line switch 17, the native AC voltage of the solder circuit is imposed on the redexed baked air, r 56 and a corresponding DC potential is applied to the bridge connection. die the field winding 54 of the regulating generator 28.
The advancement motor 24 is then supplied to advance the electrode 18 towards the part 20 so as to cause an arc to jump between them and to maintain it as described above.
The salivating welding installation in FIG. 2 is substantially the same as that of. fig. 1 described above, except that in this embodiment the armature of the advancing motor 24 is directly connected, by means of the change-over switch 38, to the armature of the regulating generator 28, and that instead of applying an excitation potential to the armature circuit of the advancing motor to effect its reversal as in the installation of fig.
1, the regulating generator 28 is provided with an auxiliary control field winding 78 which is connected to a power source of substantially constant potential to effect the excitation. of the advancement motor, so as to remove the electrode from the workpiece.
As shown, the auxiliary field winding 78 of the tuning generator 28 is in series with the tuning rheostats 35, 36 and 37 across the terminals of the constant potential source 34, while the field winding 54 of the regulating generator 28 is connected to the rectifier circuit 56 as described above.
By suitably determining the direction and value of the winding excitation. of auxiliary field 78, the flow rate of the. Adjustment generator 28 can be adjusted such that when the alternating current arcing between elec trode 18.
part 20 is reduced to zero, a sufficient potential is applied to the armature of the advancing motor 24 to effect the withdrawal of the electrode, in order to cause the electric arc to emerge. By means of the two windings 54 and 78, the effect of which on the armature 28 is opposite to each other, the installation can be made to operate the advancement motor 24, so as to maintain the arc. of alternating current between the electrode 18 and the part 20 under any condition in the same way as in the installation of FIG. 1.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, an additional rectifier circuit 80 is provided, the native alternating current terminals of which are connected to an alternating current output formed by a transformer 84.
By connecting the rectifier circuits 56 and 80 to the field winding 54 of the regulating generator 28, it is possible to apply a differential excitation potential to the field winding 54 of the regulating generator. 28 in one direction and with a value such that the advancing motor 24 is energized to advance the electrode 18 towards the workpiece 2 (this will produce its withdrawal immediately after its <RTI
ID = "0004.0055"> contact with part 20, so as to start an electric arc and keep electrode 18 away from part 2 (l in the measurement of variations in the arc voltage between electrode 18 and part 20 in the same way as in the installation of fig. 1.
The invention thus provides simple and effective means for adjusting the direct current advancement motor of the welding electrode in dependence on the arcing conditions in an alternating current arc welding installation.
It can also be advantageously used in connection with welding installations which employ a direct current advancing motor and in which it has been found desirable to use alternating current in the welding circuit. The arrangement according to the invention can at the same time combine the advantages of the alternating current arc with the advantages of an electrode advancement by a motor.
