Description

Verbrennnngs-Sternmotor.

Combustion radial engine. The invention relates to a four-stroke internal combustion engine with nine cylinders arranged in a star shape, which are charged by an exhaust gas turbo group driven by the exhaust gases of the internal combustion engine.

The invention consists in the fact that the nine cylinders of the radial engine are divided into three groups of three cylinders each, each of which is connected to a special exhaust manifold, in such a way that two cylinders each connected to the same manifold are connected to the Exhaust manifolds of the other groups connected cylinders are located.

In the drawing, an embodiment example of the subject invention is Darge provides. 1 to 9 designate the cylinders, 10 the crankcase of the radial engine. The pistons of all cylinders work on the same, centrally located crankshaft 11. The cylinders are numbered in their firing order; the ignition interval is 800 and the angle between two adjacent cylinders is 40. The exhaust ports of the cylinders 1 to 9 are labeled 1a to 9a. The cylinders 4, 1, 7 are connected to the exhaust manifold 12 by skipping two intermediate cylinders, the cylinders 8, 5, 2 in the same way to the exhaust manifold 13 and the cylinders 9, 6, 3 to the exhaust manifold 14.

The three manifolds 12, 13 and 14 conduct the exhaust gases by means of the connections 12a, 13a, 14a into the exhaust gas turbine 15, which drives the turbo blower 16. The pressure line 17 of the turbo blower is connected to the suction lines of the cylinders 1 to 9 in a manner not shown. The ignition interval of the cylinders connected to the same collecting line is 3 X 80 0 = 240 0 , so that the pressure fluctuations in the exhaust line are used to support the purging of the cylinders and interference with purging from the exhaust of other cylinders can be prevented.

Of course, more than one charging group can also be provided; for example, each of the busses 12, 13, 14 may be tied to a particular charge group.
