Mobile provided with at least one propellant device. In patent No. 20433.8, the resse application described a method of ejecting a fluid at high pressure into a gaseous medium by means of a very thin slit intended to follow by itself to the web. gas which escapes in a determined direction creating in its path an equally determined depression zone.
For this purpose, the Applicant has extended from the side towards which it is desired to deflect the sheet of gas which escapes, one of the lips of the slot by giving it the desired curvature, said curvature being such that said extension s' gradually moves away from the plane of said slit, and it is along this long lip that the fluid flows, licking it and creating a zone of strong depression.
The present invention is an application of these principles to mobiles, for example to an airplane, to a motor vehicle, etc. The mobile according to the invention is provided with at least one propellant device, characterized in that it has a very thin slot, through which a driving fluid can escape under pressure and of which the rear lip, with respect to the direction of movement of the mobile, extends into a wing surface, gradually moving away from the plane of said slit.
The device according to the invention is mounted on the mobile, so as to allow the ambient fluid to reach behind the wing surface.
In the accompanying drawings, there is shown, by way of example, various embodiments of the invention and applications.
Fig. 1 and 2 show, in perspective and in. section, a first embodiment of a propellant element, FIG. 3 a variant of said pro-pulser element in section, FIG. 4 and 5 an airplane wing provided with an elongated propellant element, disposed in front of its leading edge, FIG. 6 and 7 respectively, seen from the front, from above and in plan, a method of mounting a thruster on the landing gear of an airplane, FIG. 8 is a schematic elevational view of a motor vehicle fitted with a propellant.
A ring 1 (fig. 1) is assembled in any suitable manner a second ring 2 terminated, at the rear in the figure, by a thread 3, in which the tube 4 is engaged, the ring set 1 -2 carries a series of tubes 5, opening into an annular part 6, on which is fixed by threading 7 a ring 8, so as to create a thin slot between the ring 8 and the part 6, of adjustable thickness. desired quantity.
The part 6 can be in one piece or be produced, as shown in the drawing, by two rings 6 ', 6 "assembled by the threads 10', 10".
The operation of the propellant is as follows: The compressed gas, which may be overheated vapor or an oxidizing mixture or any explosive mixture, or even compressed air, arrives through tube 4, circulates in space annular created between the two elements 1 and 2, passes through the pipes 5 and opens into the open air between the element 6 and the ring 8, through the very thin slot 9.
There the fluid can relax on licking, due to the uneven braking of the trailed air. because of the differences in profiles on either side of the slot 9, the leading edge of the part 6 by following the path indicated by the arrows f (see on this subject patent no 204338). It is then created in space. at the front of part 6 _ a considerable depression, towards which the ambient air rushes according to the arrows f, as long as the compression of the working fluid is sufficient.
The thruster therefore has a tendency, because of the depression created in front of it, to rush into this depression under the action of the atmospheric pressure remained behind, driving the mobile on which it is mounted, as long as the depression is. sufficient for a momentum to be created. low speed and large mass of ambient air, equivalent to the traction or lift of the body on which the pro pulser is mounted.
Furthermore, through the free central part flows, following the arrows F, the ambient air so that below the part 6 is maintained atmospheric pressure.
In fig. 3, the fusiform body 11 internally carries a wall 12, adapting by threading to its internal part at 13. In this part 13 are provided tubes 14 also solid by thread 15, one year or ring 16 in profile. suitable and on the non-profiled front part of which is fixed, also by thread 17, a ring 18 of smaller diameter which can thus more or less approach the ring 16.
Between the ring 16 and the ring 18 is left an adjustable but in any case very small clearance 19 forming a thin slot, the ring 1.8 being however designed so that there is a circular chamber 20 between said ring and the ring.
The operation of the variant according to FIG. 3 is as follows: The high pressure gas mixture arrives in the chamber formed by the part 12, passes through the tube 14, begins to relax in the chamber 20, and escapes along the slit 19, to follow the profile has element 16, creating in front of it a zone of very strong depression represented by the small hatching, while, thanks to the free space traversed by the air streams represented by F the atmospheric pressure is maintained under the rear face 16 'of the ring 16.
It goes without saying that the profile has elements such as 10 and 16 and the thickness of the slots 9 or 19 are calculated in such a way that, for a given expansion of the compressed motor fluid, a quantity of movement can be obtained ensuring moving the mobile.
In the variant embodiment of the pro pulser seen in fig. 4 to 8, for its application to airplanes and cars, first take figs. 4 and 5.
In fig. 4, in front of the thick wing 63, to which it is connected by suitable frames 64, is fixed the thruster 65 designed, for example, so as to be able to turn around its axis 66.
This propellant 65 is constituted by a cylinder 67, hollow for example, so as to reduce the weight, including internally a chamber 68 in which arrives or is produced the compressed gas which is to serve as motive force. This chamber communicates with the atmosphere through a very thin slit 69, the posterior lip 70 of which is extended by a spout 71 forming the trailing edge: it is along this posterior lip that the gas sheet escapes into the atmosphere by relaxing and creating the desired depression.
Furthermore, the ambient air during the movement of the mobile follows the path of the arrows f; a part passes under the cylinder 67, then between the wing and the cylinder while maintaining atmospheric pressure there, which thus pushes the mobile into the depression created in front of it.
It will be understood that, if by any control member the cylinder 67 is made to rotate around its axis 66, the depression exerted along the spout or guide 71 may have an entirely different direction; in particular for take-off of planes, where a zone of very strong resulting depression is required, oblique with respect to the ground, and having a strong vertical component, it would be necessary to have an inclination of the nozzle 71, with respect to the ground , much greater than in the case where the aircraft arrived at the desired height moves at a determined altitude, in which case the average depression must be parallel to the ground, to ensure horizontal displacement.
In the embodiment described in FIG. 5, chamber 68 is an integral part of the wing. If we now refer to fig. 6 and 7, it can be seen that in FIG. 6 The thrusters were placed along the landing gear uprights at 72, the resulting vacuum being felt in a steady state in a direction parallel to the axis of the aircraft. The steering of the airplane is then ensured by the ailerons and the control surfaces 73, 74, 75 controlled in the usual manner, for example, by a rudder bar and a joystick.
It goes without saying, also, that in this case one could place the thruster 65 in front of the leading edge of the wing 63 as in the case of FIGS. 4 and 5.
If we refer to fig. 8 shows a profiled automobile body 77 in the form of a thick wing, the wheels 78 being streamlined.
In this curry, a propellant of the type shown in fig. 4 is mounted either vertically along the body at 79, or forward.
