Additional patent to main patent no. 205345. Electron tube, especially for amplifying very high frequencies. In the main patent, an electron tube, especially for amplifying very high frequencies, is proposed, in which two electrode systems working in push-pull mode are arranged together with two neutralization systems together in a discharge vessel. The latter preferably consist of cold electrode systems.
In the embodiment described in the main patent, the electrode systems are arranged in such a way that their cross-sectional areas abut one another.
This has the disadvantage that the length of the systems is relatively large compared to their width, so that when the temperature changes caused by heating the tube, there is a slight change in the interelectrode capacitance due to a change in the position of the electrodes, in particular the anodes.
The present invention proposes to avoid these disadvantages to arrange the electrode systems next to one another in such a way that their axes run parallel to one another.
In the accompanying drawings, exemplary embodiments of such an electron tube are shown.
According to Fig. 1 and 2, two electrode systems with the grids 2 and 3 and the cathodes 4 and 5 are arranged in a vacuum vessel 1. These cathodes are designed as flat cathodes and covered on one side with an emission layer, so that one side serves as an effective system and the other side as a neutralization system. An effective and cold electrode system each have the same anode, cathode and the same grid.
The anodes 6 and 7 are designed as hollow bodies with a triangular cross section and are provided with beads 8 to increase the stability. All electrodes are fixed on one side in a ceramic closure piece 9 of the vacuum vessel, while their connection is made on the other side by a common support 10.
This mutual definition ensures that the interelectrode capacitance is not influenced by vibrations. The supply lines are routed through the vessel wall by the shortest possible route.
The formation of the anodes as hollow bodies ensures that warping due to thermal stress does not occur.
In the case of tubes for higher capacities, the anodes are cooled with water for better dissipation of the lost heat. In Fig. 3, such an arrangement is shown cal cally. The anode leads 11 and 12 are hollow and led out separately from the discharge vessel. These guides serve as power and coolant lines at the same time.
The anodes can have feeds on diametrically opposite sides even in the case of radiation-cooled tubes. Such an arrangement has the advantage that the electrode capacitance can be distributed over two oscillation circuits. With a given electrode capacity and lead inductance, the shortest achievable Z-wavelength is smaller in this case.
The process, known per se, of leading the electrodes out twice, proves to be particularly advantageous here, since two adjacent supply lines oscillate in phase opposition and symmetrically with respect to earth. A schematic representation of such an arrangement with water cooling is given in FIG. The anodes 13 and 14 have rigid supply lines 1, 3 and 16 on one side and flexible supply lines 17 and 18 on the other, which are preferably made of tombac tube. The flexible leads should serve to compensate for thermal expansion.
