Die be kannten Mittel, z.

Internal combustion engine working with charging. The invention relates to a supercharged internal combustion engine and consists in the fact that an adjustable throttle organ is built into the exhaust line. The throttle element can be adjusted manually or actively depending on the speed or on the load or on the heat condition of the engine: or it can be or both depending on the speed, as on the load. adjusted by the heat condition of the engine. The adjustment can be done mechanically, hydraulically, pneumatically, electrically or by means of a combination of these types.
It has been shown that with supercharged internal combustion engines, especially those with a relatively high degree of supercharging and highly variable speed, the cold start often causes quite a few difficulties. The reason is that the temperature of the combustion air is not high enough for proper initiation of the combustion of the supplied fuel, if not at maximum power, that is, at full speed and full effective pressure, the final compression pressure should rise too high. The known means such.
B. electrically heated ignition coils or changing the control angle do not result in any significant improvement.
According to the invention, a throttle element is installed in the exhaust pipe going into the open, for example. The increased back pressure in the exhaust line causes the cooling by the charge and scavenging air to become weaker, so that the cylinders heat up more quickly. As a result, the engine ignites after the first few revolutions.
With increasing speed, the amount of exhaust gas increases with the same mean effective pressure, and thus the back pressure in the exhaust line also increases with unchanged throttling. The throttling must therefore become weaker with increasing speed.
If the supercharger is driven by the Brenu engine itself or an exhaust gas turbine, it is sufficient to adjust the Drosse development to the maximum filling possible at any speed by regulating the throttle opening, for example, by a device that is dependent on the speed. In other cases, it may be useful to change the throttle diffusion depending on the load, for example using a device that measures the performance.
Fig. 1 shows, as an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, a four-stroke engine with a fan driven by an exhaust gas turbine ang, Fig. 2 shows a two-stroke engine with a mechanically driven fan.
In FIG. 1, 1 denotes the internal combustion engine, preferably a diesel engine, a centrifugal regulator, 3 denotes a charging blower, and d denotes the gas turbine driving the same. which allows the exhaust gases to flow out through a line 5. The throttle element G is arranged in the exhaust line 5. When the diesel engine 1 is at a standstill, the sleeve of the controller 2, which is driven by a gear 7 from the shaft 8, occupies the uppermost position, so that the throttle element 6 reduces the outlet opening for the exhaust gases to a minimum.
As the speed increases, the weights of the controller 2 go outwards, the sleeve goes down and the opening

It may be useful to throttle the exhaust only when the engine is cold. The throttle element can then be operated as a function of the thermal state of the engine, for example the cooling water or exhaust gas temperature.
It can also be advantageous to use a combination of two or more of these speed. to use power or temperature-dependent devices.
