Machine with at least one free piston crew. The present invention relates to a machine with at least one free piston assembly in which the main part of at least all of the compression work carried out in the compressor part is carried out during the return stroke of said piston assembly, said stroke being ensured by means of at least one pneumatic accumulator of energy with adjustable initial pressure.
The machine according to the invention is characterized by a control device in fluenced by the initial pressure of the energy accumulator and cooperating, for at least certain speeds of the machine, with an organ for adjusting the quantity of energy. fuel, tible introduced into the engine element of the machine.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
The fi-. 1 shows schematically. in section the left half of the first form, and FIG. 2 shows, also in section, the left end of the second form.
The auto-generator according to fig. 1 com carries two opposing free piston crews, each comprising two parts 1 and 3. Part 1, forming the engine piston, works in engine cylinder 2, while part 3 works, as a compressor piston, in compressor cylinder 4 .
The air drawn in through valve 8 is pre-compressed in space 5 located on the outer side of piston 3, while the main part of the air compression work takes place in space 6 located on the outer side. inside the udder 3, the latter being provided with a transfer valve 10. The compressed air in the space 6 is discharged, through the discharge valve 9, into the reservoir 15 surrounding the engine cylinder 2. The reservoir 15 is placed in communication with the interior of the engine cylinder 2 when the piston 1 discovers the intake openings 2 'of said cylinder.
To constitute the pneumatic energy accumulator, the piston 1 is provided with a socket in which a fixed piston 13 engages. The energy stored in the pneumatic accumulator thus formed must be sufficient to ensure the. return stroke of the piston assembly during which the main part of the compression takes place in space 6.
Each pneumatic accumulator 11 is connected to a pressurized capacity 18, via a conduit 19 partially formed in the piston 13, and it is ensured that said pneumatic accumulator does not communicate with the capacity 1.8 until near the internal dead center of the piston crews. A this effect, a valve 20 is mounted between the. capacity 18 and the pneumatic accumulator 11, valve the opening of which is controlled by a cam 21 integral with the piston 3, said cam also providing, by a recess ramp. the injection pump 2 control ?.
The capacity 18 is supplied with compressed air from a reservoir 23 of compressed air at high pressure and this by means of an adjustable pressure reducing valve 24 controlled by hand using a control handle 25.
The variations in the initial pressure of the accumulators 11, subsequent to the actuation of the valve 24, ensure variations in the same direction of the quantity of fuel injected into the engine cylinder. For this purpose, there is provided a device comprising a cylinder 26, in which a piston _27 moves. and which is in communication with the conduit 19, by means of a valve 28 controlled at the internal dead center of the piston crews by the ramp 21 ensuring the opening of the valve 20.
The piston 27 therefore acts according to the initial pressure of the accumulator on the quantitative adjustment rod 29 of the. pump 22, through the intermediary of the cam 31, controlled by the rod 32 of this piston and that for all the speeds of the machine.
A return spring 37 is provided, to ensure the movements of the pin clans the direction corresponding to a decrease in the initial pressure of the accumulator, therefore. the quantity of fuel injected.
In the embodiment according to fi (-. 2, established analogously to the first form, the pressure reducing valve 24 by which the capacity 18 communicates with the compressed air tank is established. so as to operate automatically as a function of the discharge pressure of the compressor part of the machine and for this purpose comprises a manometric control capsule communicating with the interior of the casing 15 via a duct 41. The duct. 41 could also be connected to the discharge of the machine.
In this embodiment, the quantitative control rod 29 of the combustible pump 22 is directly controlled by the rod. 33 of a regulator. The control device influenced by the initial pressure (, of the accumulator comprises a piston 27 sliding in a cylinder 26 and returned by a spring 37. This cylinder is put into communication with the energy accumulator in the vicinity of the point dead inside of the piston equi-pages in the same way as previously by the valve 28 controlled like the valve 20 by the cam 21 integral with the piston 3.
The piston 27 acts by its rod 32 on a cam 36 having two stop ramps 34 and 35 limiting the movements of the rod 29, this control device therefore acts on the adjustment rod 29 only for certain machine speeds. .
The two embodiments described above each constitute an auto-generator, that is to say a machine in which the compressed air in the compressor part serves at least partially to supply and sweep the engine cylinder. , the exhaust openings from which the engine gas comes out. But, of course. the machine according to the invention could also constitute a self-compressor in which the compressed air is not mixed with the combustion gases from the engine cylinder before arriving at its place of use.
