Device for the production of decorative patterns. When we want to decorate painted surfaces in a fanatical way, we usually use brushes which are appropriately operated, when the paint is still fresh, or themselves carrying the overload colors when the paint has already been painted. dried; or else we use cut-out patterns that we move over the already dried painted surface and reproduce the design.
In the latter case, it is therefore necessary to wait until the background paint has dried, and to have a template for each motif. In both these cases, the resulting decoration is uniform and allows only limited effects. The present device overcomes these drawbacks in that it makes it possible to produce the most varied effects and patterns and the most pleasant aspect, even aesthetic, without changing the device, the latter being chosen, above all, of appropriate size to the extent of the surface to be decorated.
The device for producing fancy decorative patterns on a surface covered with undried paint, according to the invention, comprises a solid core in at least one part, at least in part of convex shape, on which are stretched, in at least one thickness, bands of elastic material leaving free spaces between them, and fixed so that their free ends protrude on the core.
We can give the core the most diverse shapes compatible with the goal to be achieved, for example, preferably, that of a body of revolution. One of the most favorable forms is that of a cylinder of revolution, in one piece, for example, or comprising several coaxial also cylindrical parts of the same diameter mounted with respect to one another; to the other with hard friction perpendicular to the 'axis, so that one can, for example, offset the middle cylinder relative to the other two, which allows to vary the decorative combinations to be produced.
The drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention with a core of cylindrical shape in one piece, and with bands, made of rubber, all assembled in a single thickness.
1 is the convex part of the core of which we see one of the end faces 2: rubber bands 3 are stretched along the generatrices of the cylinder, from one of its faces to the other, where they are fixed by nails 4 at a certain distance from their free ends 5, which, as a result, are naturally raised and thus constitute a sort of crown projecting on the faces.
To use the device, it is grasped in one hand and the length of the cylinder, for example, or one of its ends, is applied to the surface to be decorated with a green background of a fresh color and communicating to the cylinder a movement of rotation or displacement or alternating one and the other depending on the decorative pattern that is to be produced. One thus obtains, according to the movement communicated to the cylinder, the most varied effects and the most beautiful effect, which one cannot obtain in any other way. The elastic bands, which can also be made of a material having the same qualities as rubber. can also be stretched other than along the generators of the nucleus. They are not contiguous.
and unforeseen effects can be produced by alternating two bands superimposed on a single band.
