Method and device for the production of road surfaces. In Swiss patent no. 158174 a process for the production of road surfaces is described in which the road surface material is lined up in narrow layers and an almost vertical finish of the road surface is created in every working position of the road construction machine.
When using the above-mentioned method, it is now easy to produce dilation joints and this is done according to the invention in that a joint strip is inserted into the just finished paving section at the prescribed intervals to form dilation joints in accordance with the forward step of the paver progressively new paving material is pressed in again by the road paver.
The U-shaped metal seam, for example, is given a wedge-shaped insert for reinforcement, which is pulled out after the finishing of the covering, and a joint filling material is introduced in its place. The joint plate itself can remain in the covering and protects the edges of the covering panels, which do not have to be reworked.
In Fig. 1-3 an example of the procedural rens according to the invention is illustrated. In Fig. 4 and 5 it is illustrated how additional longitudinal joints can be made.
As soon as the paver is advanced at a distance .A from the last transverse joint, a joint plate with insert is inserted or respectively through a hopper of the paver or by pushing it back or adjusted to the covering end wall (Fig. 2). The paver continues its activity by again pouring new surfacing material through the funnel and pressing it against the joint plate.
The upper edge of the joint plate comes exactly to the height of the road surface, respectively. its position is determined by the paver 4 sliding over it. At the appropriate time point (see Fig. 1) the wedge insert 2 is pulled out of the joint plate 1 and the resulting joint space is filled with 3 joint filler.
In order to additionally form longitudinal joints, a molding 6 is attached to the mold plate 4 of the road paver (FIG. 4), which moves forwards according to the work process of the road paver and which forms the longitudinal joint like a ploughshare. Due to the device built on the road paver, joint filling material is immediately pressed into the longitudinal joint, so that reworking on the same is essentially unnecessary.
At the end of the longitudinal joint strip 6, which separates the covering material, the funnel 7 with punch 8 and lever 9 is arranged, by means of which the joint filling compound is pressed into the cavity left by the longitudinal joint strip 6.
