Aufl. (192g), Bd. 1. Seite 584, 2. Abschnitt unter Melamin, ferner Beilstein III. Aufl., Bd. 1, Seite 1443, Zeile 5 v. u., A. Ostrogovich (C 1936 I, Seite 554, Zeile 21 v.
in Betracht, z.

das nahezu<B>90%</B> Malamin neben einigen Prozent Melan entW#t#.# Das Dnayandiamid kann. auch kontinuierli;;

D'as erhaltene Produkt besteht aus nahezu reinem Melamin.
Process for the production of melamine. In the known manufacturing processes for melamine, the "named product is always obtained in a solid state in the form of crystals, powder or as a coherent cake.
In order to remove this material, as is usually the case in technology, from the reaction space through pipes and valves, it must either be converted into the form of a solution or that of a suspension.
To this day, there is still no suitable solvent for the first-mentioned procedure, which: dissolves the melamine in sufficient quantities without decomposition.
The suspension method is only successful if: the product is in fine-grained form and even then the conveyance of suspensions through pipes and especially through valves presents difficulties. The promotion of the reaction mass is particularly difficult if the production:
of the melamine from the melamine-forming substances is made continuously in reaction tubes. In this case: the risk of clogging of the pipes and valves is particularly difficult to avoid.
The use of a solution or a suspension for the purpose of promoting the material also has the disadvantage that subsequently the solution or. Suspending agent again from: the material to be conveyed must be separated.
According to the present invention, these disadvantages are overcome in that the melamine is won and conveyed in the molten state.
It was by no means foreseeable that it would be possible to melt melamine without decomposing. or that it is possible for melamIn-forming:
To convert substances into molten melamine in good yield and to promote the latter in this form, since, according to the literature, the melamine sublimes when heated and decomposes with ammonia formation, cf.
Richter-Ansehütz, Chemistry of Carbon Compounds, 12th edition (192g), Vol. 1. Page 584, Section 2 under Melamine, also Beilstein III. Ed., Vol. 1, page 1443, line 5 v. u., A. Ostrogovich (C 1936 I, page 554, line 21 v.
u.) determines a melting point for pure malamine (3.54 corr.), but mentions that the melting takes place under gas evolving.
It has now been shown that it is possible to produce malamine from melamine-forming substances in the molten state without decomposition and to remove it in this form from the reaction chamber if the process takes place in,
The presence of ammonia is carried out. It is of course also possible to first produce the malamine at lower temperatures and then to heat it to the melting temperature. That under ammonia pressure
Standing liquid polyamine can be blown off through a small opening in a template and quickly cooled, whereby it is obtained as a fine powder, or it can also be caught in liquid form in a template and solidified there by cooling.
In this way it is possible to achieve yields of up to 100%, depending on the starting materials and the ammonia pressure.
The melting temperature of the reaction products is of course dependent on the reaction mixture; the temperature is in the range of about 350 °. At such high temperatures, the reaction times become extremely short.
Continuous working methods are very suitable under such conditions. The same is carried out in a known manner, for example through a reaction tube.
As starting materials are. naturally those most suitable which, apart from malamine, no longer supply any other products such as cyanamide and dicyandiamide. Of course, there are also other substances or mixtures of substances which form melamine in a known manner
into consideration, e.g. B. guanidine or its salts, alone or in a mixture with dicyandiamide, ammonium rhodanide, sulfo eyans @ auremethylaster or cyanuric chloride with the addition of ammonia and a. m.
Example 1: 100 parts by weight of dicyandiamide together with about 8 parts by weight of ammonia are heated to about 3 in a pressure vessel
70 heated. The contents are then blown off into a cooled template. The reaction vessel
is completely emptied. The escaping ammonia is caught and a fine powdery product is in the receiver. The analysis shows that it consists of 1.00% melanvin.
Tests with different ammonia pressures have shown that the lower limit of the ammonia pressure, at which still practically pure melanin is produced, is around 100 atm. lies.
If the ammonia pressure is too low, not only malamine but also melan and other products are produced.
Example <I> 2: </I> A pressure vessel is completely filled with dicyandiamide and then up to <B> 3,
75 'heated. Then the contents are blown off as in Example 1. Ammonia escapes and you get a product in the template,
the almost <B> 90% </B> malamine and a few percent melan develops #. # The dnayandiamide can. also continuously ;;
Turn L under high pressure into a reaction tube heated to about MO ', whereby at the end the liquid malamine is drained off together with a small amount of split off ammonia,
that a high pressure inside the pipe. preserved.
<I> Example 3: </I> 1 part by weight of däayandiamide is placed in a low-pressure vessel in 1.5 weight units share dissolved liquid ammonia.
The solution obtained in this way is conveyed with a high pressure pump into a reaction tube heated to <B> 380 '</B>,
which has a valve as a closure and opens into a template. In the reaction tube, the pressure is increased to around 200 atm with the help of the valve. held. There can be found use of various types of drain valves such.
B. adjustable valves or spring valves that open automatically at the desired pressure. It has also proven to be advantageous to use a nozzle with a suitable opening as a closure, the pressure being adjusted with the aid of the delivery rate of the pump.
The reaction mixture is blown off into a cooled receiver. There, the solid product can be separated from the gaseous ammonia, or closed low-pressure reservoirs can be used, where a mixture of liquid ammonia and melami is formed,
which subsequently separated wind. The product obtained consists of almost pure melamine. Example <I> 4: </I> 3 parts by weight of cyanamide are treated together with 1 part by weight of ammonia, as indicated in Examples 1 and 2, in a reaction vessel.
The product obtained consists of 98,7o melamine. Even with small amounts of ammonia, cyanamide gives homogeneous solutions, for example 10 75 of its weight. It is therefore particularly suitable for continuous conversion into melamine.
