Device for atomizing liquids, in particular for spraying. of milk on drying drums. The invention relates to a device for atomizing liquids, in particular special for spraying milk on dry. drums.
It is known to atomize liquids using compressed air in order to be able to dry them quickly in a finely divided state. In a known type of atomizing device, the liquid, in order to be captured by the air jets, must be passed through narrow channels, tubes or fine nozzle openings which can easily become encrusted or clogged, and the air pressure must be selected to be quite high in order to achieve a to achieve sufficient fine and even atomization.
In order to remedy these disadvantages, it has therefore already been proposed that the liquids to be atomized should be evenly distributed to blower nozzles by means of circumferential surfaces, preferably rollers or scoop discs, which are immersed in a liquid container. In such Vorrich lines, however, the liquid from the air or gas jet is always from the BEZW on the peripheral surface of the rollers. Liquid adhering to the scoop discs has been loosened relatively roughly.
It was therefore not possible to obtain such a fine and even atomization of the liquid as is necessary to obtain a product that is evenly dried.
In order to also remedy this evil; are in a device of the type mentioned according to the present invention, the nozzles for supplying the air BEZW. of the gas with respect to the discs immersed in the liquid is arranged so that the air or gas jets are each directed obliquely against one of the side surfaces of the discs and the atomization of that liquid, which by the centrifugal force on the side surfaces swept by the jets Discs is driven to the extreme at the edge, through which the jet takes place over an edge of the disc.
With such a device, the liquid is uniformly sprayed and, as a result, all liquid particles are uniformly dried. The latter in turn enables the drying temperature to be kept lower, or the drying time to be shortened at the same temperature. Working at a lower drying temperature, for example, results in less steam consumption because the radiation losses are then smaller.
A shortening of the drying time is particularly desirable in the case of heat-sensitive liquids, such as, for example, milk, since such liquids then have no opportunity to change, for example in terms of solubility and appearance. Because part of the liquid is atomized over the edge of the disk in the novel device, it is possible to keep the air pressure required for atomization relatively low. When spraying milk, for example, an air pressure of 10 to 15 cm water column is sufficient.
Working with low air pressure, when spraying onto a drying drum, has the advantage that the individual liquid droplets do not dust back again from the drum surface, so that the spraying losses are extremely low. The low air pressure can also prevent any chemical influences on sensitive liquids. It is known, for example, that whole milk powder, which is dried in a special stimulus chamber using the spray method, can easily become rancid and sebum due to the fact that it comes into contact with the drying air for too long and too intensively. Such an influence does not occur with the novel device, as experience has shown.
On the contrary, milk that is sprayed and dried in such a device has a surprisingly good shelf life.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of the subject invention is illustrated in a simplified manner, namely Fig. 1 shows a vertical section through part of a device for atomizing and spraying milk on a drying drum and Fig. 2 is a plan view of the part concerned.
A number of disks cc, which are narrow in relation to the diameter and which are fastened on a rotating shaft b, are immersed in a vessel c filled with milk and covered with a thin layer of milk when they are rotated to the immersion depth.
Due to the centrifugal force, the milk adhering to the side surfaces of the disks is thrown against the edge of the disks a and brewed in the Be rich of compressed air, which is arranged obliquely to these disks a, their jet diagonally against the one side surface of these disks throwing nozzles d emerges and that part of the milk which is driven to the extreme on the edge of the side surfaces of the slices coated by the jets is evenly atomized over a peripheral edge of the slices a and sprays onto a drying drum. If the slices a are spaced appropriately from one another, it can be achieved that the milk is carried evenly over the entire length of the drum e.
