Elektrischer Schalter.
Electric switch. The present invention relates to an electrical switch of the type in which a vessel containing mercury is tilted so that the mercury and the vessel walls can be brought into or out of contact with the vessel walls by setting electrodes, thereby closing or closing circuits connected to these electrodes be opened.
In such switches, it is common practice to use the flexible cable as a power supply to the electric. which allow the vessel, usually a glass tube, to be tilted. Experience has shown that these cables are disadvantageous in various ways. Once they can break as a result of the stress, they are often a hindrance when installing the switch, and it can also happen that a short circuit occurs between the cables if they rub against each other with constant contact so that the insulation is frayed .
Another disadvantage is that the cables often jam the tilting vessel or otherwise prevent the tilting movement of the same.
In the switch according to the present invention these disadvantages are eliminated by not using cables. According to the invention, the tilting vessel has a detachable cover which is attached to the vessel by means of a bracket, these brackets: carrying the electrodes and being designed as sliding contacts. These brackets are movably mounted and slide on them between contact springs that clamp the connection for the lines to be laid on the switch.
In the accompanying drawings, an example embodiment of a switch according to: the invention is shown, namely: Fig. 1 is a front view of the switch, Fig. 2 is a side view of the same, Fig. 3 is a plan view of the switch on a larger scale, Fig. 4 is a cross section along the line 4-4 of FIG. 5 and 5 show a longitudinal section through the switch on a larger scale.
The switch shown has a bearing or. Insulating part 1, e.g. B. made of steatite, consisting of: two paral lelen arms 2 and two annular flanges 3 and 4. To attach the part 1 to a base 3 holes 5 and 4 holes 6 in the flange are provided through which fastening screws pushed through can be. The bores 5 and 6 are coaxial and connected by a recess 7 in the arm 2.
In addition to the flanges 3 and 4 are attached to the arms 2 recesses 8 respectively. 9, the legs of U-shaped bent contact springs 10 and 11, the upper legs carrying terminals 1.2.
The contact springs 10 carry projections 13 (fix. 4) which form part of the tilting axis of the tilting vessel 14. The tilting vessel 14, which is partially filled with mercury, has a lid 15 with an opening that can be closed by means of a screw 16. A seal 17, e.g. B. made of rubber, lies between the lid 15 and the vessel 14. To attach the lid 15 to the vessel 14 are four U-shaped bent brackets 1.8 respectively. 19 provided, the upper legs of which electrodes 20 are conductively connected to the electrodes projecting into the interior of the vessel.
The bracket 18, 19 are also as sliding contacts on .den contact springs 10, respectively. 11 formed. The electrodes 2-0 are screwed into the bottom of the vessel by a nut 21 sunk in the same angeord and one also for clamping the upper leg of a bracket, the nut 2.2. Appropriately, the metal parts 20, 2.1 and 22 with, the leg ends of the bracket 18 BEZW. 19 conductively connected by soldering.
A handle 23 is used to tilt the Ge vessel 14, which is drawn in .der drawing in, its central position with respect to the insulating part 1. The near the flange -3 lie lowing bracket 1.8 have recesses 24 into which the projections 1-3 of the contact springs 10 protrude so that the vessel 14 is pivotable about this axis formed by the projections 13 and recesses 24.
During this pivoting movement, the Bü gel 19 slide on the contact springs 11. So that the interruption of the circuit and thus the opening spark occurs only on one electrode, the electrodes are on the one hand, the center plane of the Ge vessel 14 perpendicular to the tilt axis is kept shorter than those on the other side. To limit the tilting movement, the brackets 19 have lugs 27 at the top and bottom, which run onto the springs 10 in the two end positions of the vessel 14.
By limiting the tilting movement, these noses allow the switch to be operated practically silently.
To extend the creepage distance and to prevent the rollover between adjacent ends of the legs of the bracket on the tilting vessel, a central rib 2.5 is provided on the latter. A middle partition or partition 2; 6 serves to separate the mercury surfaces in the vessel and to extend the creepage distance between the electrodes.
Instead of the handle 23, two pushbuttons could be axially displaceable in the front wall of a housing closing the switch. a cover plate, when the switch is mounted in the plaster. The rear end of these push buttons engage the vessel 14, one above and the other below the pivot axis.
The switch for surface mounting is, as a rule, enclosed in a housing, from which the front handle respectively. these snaps stick out. When the switch is flush-mounted, these actuating elements protrude through the cover plate.
The switch shown is, if necessary, with connection of individual terminals to each other, for many scarf lines used.
