Elektromechanische Impedanz.

Electromechanical Impedance. The invention relates to electro-mechanical impedances, in particular to those which have resonance characteristics due to resonance oscillations of a mechanical element.
The production of impedances with mechanically oscillating elements with much less damping than that of the usual electrical resonance circuits is known; such impedances have when transmitting vibrations. different frequencies extremely selective properties. In wave filters with a wide frequency band, this low energy loss leads to a sharp delimitation of the transmission band and to a high degree of efficiency over the entire band.
The construction of mechanical vibrating bodies, which have simple resonance characteristics, is, however, associated with difficulties, especially for high frequencies, since the mass and the elasticity of the vibrating element are usually distributed in such a way that they are similar to long transmission lines behave. For this reason, the vibrating body usually has a number of resonances at the frequency levels determined by: the geometric structure.
Usually, an electromechanical impedance consists of an electrical circuit that is coupled either electromagnetically or electrostatically to a mechanically oscillating device in such a way that the movement of the latter induces an electromotive force in the circuit.
The electromechanical impedance according to the invention, in which an elongated mechanical visual oscillation body is present, which is electromechanically coupled to an electrical circuit and on the electromechanical forces as a function of the in the circuit.
Occurring vibrations are exerted is characterized in that the coupling between the vibrating body and the electrical circuit is distributed over the length of the vibrating body and is graduated from point to point in such a way that: the effective coupling at least at one harmonic of the vibrating body practically, is zero.
In some cases it is sufficient: if only a certain harmonic is to be eliminated, the driving forces should only be graded at a relatively small number of points along the vibrating body. For example, the electromechanical impedance can be designed in such a way if the third harmonic is switched off:
is intended that the driving force remains practically constant in the middle part of the vibrating body, but is practically zero at the two end parts, as is described in detail in the special part of the description with reference to FIG.
In the following, some exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are described in more detail using the figures.
FIGS. 1 and 2 show two views of an embodiment example of the invention; Fig. 3 is a schematic representation of the operation of the arrangement in Fig. 1; FIGS. 4 and 5 show further exemplary embodiments; Fig. 6 is a schematic representation of the arrangement in Fig. 4;
the F'ig. 7 shows the use of the impedance according to the invention in wave filters, while FIG. 8 shows a further possible embodiment.
In FIG. 1, a tensioned wire 1 lies between two points <I> A </I> and <I> B, </I> at which the wire is firmly anchored to supports that are not shown. 2 and 3 are the poles of a magnet, between which the wire 1 lies. 4 and 5 are the conductors that lead to terminals T1 and TZ.
The magnet poles are tapered towards the air gap, as shown in FIG. 2, in order to generate a concentrated magnetic field in the vicinity of the wire. In contrast to the known arrangements in which the pole faces are par allel to one another, in the dargestell th arrangement the space between the pole faces in the middle is smallest and increases symmetrically at the ends.
The purpose: this shaping of the pole faces is to form a magnetic flux whose strength changes sinusoidally, with the flux density having its maximum value at the center of the wire and sinusoidally at the ends of the wire to a negligibly small value sinks.
If an alternating current is applied to the terminals T1 and T2, a current flows in the wire 1 which, through the interaction with the magnetic flux, causes the wire to oscillate transversely synchronously with the current changes and which generates a synchronously retroactive electromotive force in: the electrical circuit he testifies.
Due to the mass distribution and the transversal elasticity, which: is created by tension, the wire has: a series of resonances at harmonic frequencies. With the fundamental oscillation, all points of the wire move simultaneously in the same direction.
With higher resonances, the wire has "evenly distributed" nodes, the movements of the wire to the right and left of the node being directed in opposite directions. Vibrations at this higher frequency can only be sustained if energy is fed synchronously to the wire.
Due to the sinusoidal distribution of the flux density in the arrangement shown, energy is only supplied to the wire at its fundamental oscillation, and thus all oscillations that otherwise occur are suppressed.
The suppression of the higher frequencies is based on the F'i, g. 3 described in more detail. The horizontal line A-B shows the wire in its rest position. The ordinates of curve 4, measured from line A-B, are the flux densities at the various points along the wire, this curve being sinusoidal.
The dashed curve 5 shows the shape of the wire at the third harmonic, where the displacement of the line A-B is also subjected to a sinusoidal change, but of three times the frequency.
Along the wire, measured from the center point 0, the flux density B is at a point on the distance x from the center
EMI0003.0013
where B "means the flux density at the midpoint and l the length of the wire. The oscillation speed varies sinusoidally along the wire in the same way as the displacement and its value is V at the point x
EMI0003.0023
where Va is the velocity at the center point
the assumed vibration signifies. The retroactive electromotive force induced by an assumed element dx of the wire at the point <I> x </I> is
EMI0003.0029
and the total retroactive electromotive force Eb #. is expressed as follows: "t:
EMI0003.0034
If the expression
EMI0003.0035
is set, equation 4 has the following form:
EMI0003.0036
which has the value zero.
Since the movement of the assumed third harmonic generates a retroactive electromotive force equal to zero, it follows that the wire, when it vibrates in the above-mentioned manner, cannot draw any energy from the electrical circuit, so this vibration does not occur get right:
can be. This consideration with reference to other harmonics leads to expressions that are similar to Equation 5 for the retroactive electromotive force and their. Values are zero in each case. The retroactive electromotive force Eb, which is the basic vibration
EMI0003.0055
where V "is the speed for this mode of oscillation at the midpoint.
The impedance of the vibrating wire, which is measured in the electrical circuit, can be taken from the differential equation for .the movement of the wire: who the. The driving force on an element of the wire is dx at a point on the distance x from the center of the wire
EMI0003.0070
in which i means the instantaneous value of the current in the wire.
This value is counteracted by two components, one due to the transverse elasticity of the wire, which is supported by the tension, and one due to the counteracting mass acceleration of an elementary length dx. The first component has the following value
EMI0003.0081
in which z is the tension of the wire and y is the transverse displacement of the wire at point x.
The value of the second component is
EMI0003.0086
where the linear density of the wire is denoted by p. The differential equation for motion is thus
EMI0004.0005
and their resolution
EMI0004.0007
in .der co is the frequency of the current. It should be noted here that equation 8 yields a single resonance at a frequency which
EMI0004.0011
corresponds.
The retroactive electromotive force generated by the movement of the wire is
EMI0004.0016
With the exception of one component equal to the resistance of the wire, which is added in series, the impedance is determined by the ratio between the electromotive force and the current and has the following value:
EMI0004.0022
that of the impedance of a capacitance with the value
EMI0004.0024
those with an inductance
EMI0004.0026
is connected in parallel, corresponds. If the various quantities are measured in C.G..S. units, 12 and 18 result in the capacitance and inductance in absolute electrical units.
The sinusoidal distribution of the flux density can approximately be achieved by dike the distance between the pole faces
EMI0004.0040
where x, as in the previous one, is measured from the center point of the wire or the air gap. Due to the framing of the magnetic field, the flux does not drop to zero at the ends of the air gaps.
But by lengthening the wire at both ends a little beyond the magnetic poles, this edge effect can for the most part be compensated, so that. the flux density at the ends will be small enough to be neglected.
4 and 5 show further exemplary embodiments according to the invention, in which the mechanical coupling is electrostatic instead of electromagnetic. FIG. 4 shows a longitudinal section through the device and FIG. 5 shows a cross section through the line X-X 'in FIG.
In this arrangement: the .Schwingungs- element consists of a thin metal strip 8, which is stretched in the air gap between the conductive electrodes 6 and 7. The metal strip 8 is clamped at the ends by insulation blocks 9, 9 'and 10, 10', which at the same time serve as supports for the electrodes and are used to establish the air gap.
The electrodes 6 and 7 are polarized by a battery 11 with respect to the vibrating body. One terminal, the battery leads directly to the vibrating body 8 and the other via the high-resistance protective resistors R and R 'to the electrodes 6 and 7. The terminal T, respectively. T2 of the arrangement is with the electrode 6 respectively. 7 connected.
The device operates in the same way as a balanced electrostatic telephone handset. The battery 11 bil det a steady uniform electric field between the vibrating body 8 and the electrodes 6 respectively. 7, to which an oppositely directed field from an alternating voltage that is applied to terminals T and TZ,
is superimposed. The superimposition voltages interact with the constant polarization fields and generate synchronously retroactive electromotive forces in the electrical circuit. Due to the uniformly distributed mass and the transversal elasticity of the Strei fen 8 has a number of natural resonances at harmonic frequencies just like the tensioned wire in Fig. 1. Audi in this case, the higher Frequen zen.
prevents the driving force from being graduated along the length of the strip in such a way that energy can only be added to the vibrating body during the fundamental vibration. In this case the driving force at each point of the strip is proportional to the square of the strength of the electric field at that point, the field being composed of two components, one due to the polarization voltage and one due to the superimposed alternating voltage, the both are distributed in the same way.
With a symmetrical construction of the electrodes and the circuits, the forces on the two surfaces of the vibrating body are balanced by each component individually, and the only forces that create a movement are those that arise from the product of the two components. Since the polarization voltage is constant, the forces that arise from this product are synchronous with the superimposed: forces.
In order to suppress the undesired vibrations, it is necessary that the drive forces are distributed sinusoidally, as in the case of the electromagnetic device in FIG. 1, along the strip.
However, since the gradation of the air gaps in this case uniformly influence the distribution of the strength of the polarization field and the strength of the alternating field, it can be shown that the air gaps should have a different shape so that the distance between the electrodes of the vibrating body proportional to the value
EMI0005.0044
where x is the distance from the center of the vibrating body and l is the length of the electrodes.
Since each air gap serves as a special source of driving forces, the two should be symmetrical.
Because of the movement of the vibrating body, the air gaps do not remain constant, but the effects of these changes are small and not such that @ that @, the almost complete elimination of the harmonics is prevented.
The edge effect of the electric field at the ends of the electrodes can largely be compensated for by extending the vibrating body beyond the electrodes, as shown in FIG. 4. Since very small air gaps are desired for an effective electromechanical coupling, the vibrations can suffer considerable damping due to the inertia of the air.
This attenuation can, however, be reduced to a large extent by the fact that: the electrode surfaces receive longitudinally directed recesses "as FIG. 5 shows, or, if the device is provided by insulation walls, as at 12.
and 12 'indicated in FIG. 5, is completely enclosed, the air is partially removed from the interior. The resistances R and R 'in the polarization circles should be sufficiently high so that the loss effects can be neglected.
The device is equivalent to an electrical impedance, as shown in FIG. 6, which is connected in parallel from an inductance L1 in series with a capacitance C to a capacitance Co.
The capaci ity C ,, is the one between the electrons 6 and 7 with the vibrating body at rest and at the mean voltage of the two. Electrodes. The resonance frequency of the inductance L1 and the capacitance Cl is that of the basic mechanical resonance of the,
Vibrating body. The impedance Z of the device is given by the following equation:
EMI0006.0017
in which f is the frequency, f ,. the fundamental resonance frequency of the vibrating body and f 2 denotes a higher frequency at which anti-resonance occurs.
The value of f 2 can be found in
EMI0006.0026
in which E is the polarization voltage in absolute units, O is the areal density of the vibrating "strip" in .gr / cm2 and D "is the smallest distance between the vibrating body and the electrodes.
The resonant impedance characteristics of the devices described make them useful as impedance elements in the construction of wide band wave filters, with which they are used in essentially the same manner as other impedances. can be connected with two connection terminals.
When used in wave filters with a wide band, the dimensioning of the elements must be carefully observed in order to obtain the desired response characteristics. The principle for such cooperation is known.
An example of an application of the described electrostatic device in a cross-member filter is shown in FIG. 7, in which the same electrostatic elements 13 and 13 'of the embodiment shown in FIG. 5 lie in the branches of the network, while the diagonal branches are identical elements 14 and 14 ', the resonances of which, however, are at frequencies which differ from the resonances of the line branches.
The inductances L, which are in all four feed lines, outside the cross member filter, interact with the network impedances to control the width of the transmission band. A network of high-ohmic resistors Bi to RB connects a polarization battery 15 with the electrodes of the electromechanical elements, the resistors being balanced so that
that they do not impair the distribution of the currents in filter branches and are dimensioned so high that excessive energy losses from the currents transmitted are avoided.
A further embodiment of the invention is shown in FIG. 8, in which a certain harmonic is suppressed. This arrangement is a modification of the electromagnetic device shown in Fig. 1, wherein the curved pole faces 2 and 3 are replaced by pole faces, their. opposite surfaces are paral lel to each other and extend about 2/3 of the length of the wire on both sides of the center point.
In this version, the third harmonic is suppressed. The cause of this suppression can easily be seen from the dashed curve 16, which shows the wire in its third harmonic.
The movement of the middle loop of the wire produces a retroactive electromotive force in one direction, and the movement of the wire in the two outer loops produces retroactive electromotive forces in the opposite direction. Since the field from the center of one of the outer loops to the center of the other loop has the same strength and is otherwise essentially zero, the sum of the retroactive electromotive forces is zero,
and the resulting magnetic coupling is also zero for this type of oscillation.
