2. Weizen wird mit10% Glyzerinmono- chlorhydrin, gelöst in Wasser, imprägniert. Zur Tötung von Mäusen genügen*3-4 Gift körner.
Method of exterminating rodents. The subject of the German patent 612206 is a process for the eradication of lower animal pests such as flies, ants, wasps and beetles by using certain halogen substitution products of polyvalent alcohols as food poisons.
Even though it is said there that these agents, in contrast to their effect on insects, are relatively nontoxic for larger living beings, it was surprisingly found that smaller vertebrates, such as mice, rats, hamsters, etc., were able to absorb more Certainly can be killed. The method for exterminating rodents, which is the subject of the present invention, is characterized in that bait substances are used which contain halogen substitution products of polyvalent alcohols which still have at least one free hydroxyl group.
Compared to most known rodent control agents, these halogen substitution products have the advantage that they are not, as is the case with e.g. B. Strichnin and Theobromin, one repel the taste, but on the contrary, usually have a sweet taste.
On the other hand, their toxicity is not as strong as that of the two substances mentioned respectively. the salts of nitrogen hydrochloric acid or certain urethanes used in pest control, the latter only having a very short shelf life depending on a certain hydrogen ion concentration. The funds are used to poison the 'rodents ingested food.
Examples: 1. 95 parts of a crushed pastry are mixed with 5 parts of glycerol monochlorohydrin and the mixture is formed into small biscuits with water. The mice gladly take the remedy and have a killing effect within a short time. For example, mice died after ingesting 20 mg of toxin.
2. Wheat is impregnated with 10% glycerine monochlorohydrin, dissolved in water. 3-4 poison grains are sufficient to kill mice.
3. A bait prepared with glycerol monobromohydrin as in Example 2 is deadly in the same way.
4. If, according to the method given in Example 1, the corresponding iodine compound is used instead of glycerine monochlorohydrin. the result is a bait of which an amount equivalent to 20 mg of toxin is absolutely killing on mice.
5. A rabbit who voluntarily ate 15 g of wheat impregnated with 10% glycerol monochlorohydrin was dead on the following day.
6. Wheat impregnated with 5% ss-chlorine-: ss'-oxydiethylether is eaten by mice. One test animal voluntarily ate 5 grains and died in a short time.
7. If grain is impregnated with 5% of its weight in y, y'-dichloro-ss, ss'-dioxydipropyl ether, a very effective mouse-control agent is also obtained.
B. Crushed biscuits are mixed with 5% of its weight of ss-chloro-äthyl- y'-chloro-ss'-oxy-propyl ether, formed into biscuits with water and thus obtained a rodent control agent. Mice die in a short time after ingesting 300 mg (= 15 mg of toxin).
